Abstract
L'invention concerne une pièce électroformée en alliage d'or, caractérisée en ce que l'alliage d'or est composé de 88 à 94% en poids d'or, x% de cuivre et/ou d'argent en poids, et 2x% de zinc en poids, x étant compris entre 2 et 4.
Description
PROCEDE D'ELECTROFORMAGE ET P IECE OU COUCH E OBTEN U E PAR CE PROCEDE
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'électroformage destiné à réaliser des pièces ou des couches à base d'un alliage d'or contenant du zinc, du cuivre et/ou de l'argent, ainsi que des pièces ou couches obtenues par ce procédé. Plus particulièrement, l'invention concerne un tel procédé permettant de déposer sur des substrats des couches épaisses dudit alliage, typiquement de l'ordre de 300 microns.
On connaît déjà des procédés d'électrodéposition d'alliage d'or par une électrolyse dans un bain galvanique alcalin contenant, en plus de l'or et du cuivre, du cadmium. Comme le cadmium est un métal toxique, il est désormais interdit d'utilisation par de nombreuses législations.
Pour pallier ce problème, il a déjà été proposé par le document CH 680 927 de remplacer, dans le procédé de dépôt électrolytique d'un alliage d'or classique (Au, Cu, Cd), le cadmium par du zinc.
Toutefois, ce procédé ne décrit que le dépôt de couches d'alliage d'or, de zinc et de cuivre de l'ordre de 10 microns. Par ailleurs, ce document ne fournit aucune information précise sur la composition de l'alliage final déposé.
La présente invention a donc pour but principal de fournir un procédé d'électroformage d'une pièce ou d'une couche à base d'un alliage d'or, de zinc et de cuivre exempt de cadmium, ayant des épaisseurs de plusieurs centaines de microns.
La présente invention a également pour but de fournir un tel procédé permettant de réaliser de telles couches présentant une dureté améliorée
tout en maintenant une bonne ductilité.
A cet effet, l'invention a pour objet un procédé d'électroformage d'une couche d'un alliage d'or comprenant 88 à 94% en poids d'or, x% de cuivre et/ou d'argent en poids, et 2x% de zinc en poids, x étant compris entre 2 et 4 consistant à :
- plonger un substrat métallique dans un bain électrolytique alcalin contenant une anode, ledit bain contenant au moins des sels d'or sous forme de cyanure d'or et de potassium, des sels de cuivre sous forme de cyanure de cuivre, des sels de zinc sous forme d'oxyde de zinc et/ou des sels d'argent sous forme d'oxyde d'argent, du cyanure de sodium, de l'hydroxyde de sodium, de l'acide, par exemple de l'acide tétraéthylène diamino acétate et un tensio-actif, ledit substrat formant une cathode,
- électroformer ladite couche en créant une tension entre l'anode et la cathode pour réaliser le dépôt des ions métalliques à la surface du substrat
- interrompre la tension une fois que l'épaisseur de la couche électrodéposée désirée est atteinte.
De préférence, on fait varier la tension durant l'étape d'électroformage de ladite couche, ce qui permet d'obtenir une cristallisation de la phase α de l'or non homogène dans la couche au moment du dépôt. Cette non homogénéité permet notamment de diminuer les défauts de surface de la couche déposée par une superstructure cristalline.
Selon un mode de réalisation préféré du procédé de l'invention, on diminue la tension entre l'anode et la cathode dans la phase finale de l'étape d'électroformage pour augmenter la concentration en or de la zone superficielle de la couche déposée et ainsi renforcer la coloration dorée de la couche déposée.
Selon un autre aspect avantageux du procédé de l'invention, l'étape d'électroformage est suivie d'un traitement thermique de recuit compris entre 300° et 700° C pendant au moins 30 minutes et d'une trempe rapide.
On notera à ce propos qu'il ne faut en aucun cas dépasser la
température de la courbe « liquidus » du diagramme de phase Au Zn pour l'alliage considéré car lors de la solidification dans l'eutectique, à partir de la phase liquide, on provoquerait une solidification selon deux phases α, β' ce qui aurait pour conséquence une forte dégradation des propriétés mécaniques après refroidissement. Au cours de ce traitement, la structure cristalline de la couche est partiellement homogénéisée et est ensuite figée dans cette conformation par la trempe rapide qui évite la formation des phases cristallines intermédiaires α1 ou α2 pour l'alliage en question.
L'invention a également pour objet une pièce électroformée en alliage d'or, caractérisée en ce que l'alliage d'or est composé de 88 à 94% en poids d'or, x% de cuivre et/ou d'argent en poids, et 2x% de zinc en poids, x étant compris entre 2 et 4.
Selon un mode préféré de l'invention, l'alliage est composé de 88% en poids d'or, 8% en poids de zinc et 4% en poids de cuivre L'électroformage est effectué à une température comprise entre 40° et 800C.
Selon un mode de réalisation avantageux, le tensio-actif utilisé est un ester phosphatidique d'un alcool alkyl polyglycol.
Selon le procédé de l'invention on effectue une électrolyse dans un bain galvanique alcalin ayant un pH compris entre 8 et 10 contenant environ de 7 à 15 g/l d'or sous forme de cyanure d'or et de potassium, environ 1 ,5 à 5 g/l de zinc sous forme d'oxyde de zinc, environ 1 ,5 à 3 g/l de cuivre ou de d'argent sous forme de cyanure de cuivre respectivement oxyde d'argent, du cyanure de sodium, de l'hydroxyde de sodium, de l'acide tétraéthylène diamino acétate et son sel de potassium et un tensio- actif.
Cette étape d'électrolyse est suivie d'un traitement thermique à au moins 300° C pendant au moins 30 minutes. Ce traitement thermique s'effectue de préférence sous une atmosphère réductrice pour réduire l'oxyde de zinc.
De préférence, le bain galvanique contient en outre un brillanteur. Celui-ci est, de préférence, un tartrate antimoine de potassium combiné à de l'hypophosphite de potassium ou un sélénocyanate de potassium.

Le tensio-actif est de préférence un ester phosphatidique du butyl ou nonyl phénolpolyglycol.
L'électrolyse est effectuée de préférence à une température comprise entre 60 et 75°C dans un bain galvanique acide dont le pH est compris entre 8 et 10.
L'électrolyse peut être réalisée avec une densité de courant de typiquement de l'ordre 1 ,0 A/dm2.
L'électrolyse est suivie d'un traitement thermique effectué à une température supérieure à 300° C pendant un temps compris typiquement entre 30 minutes et 1 heure. Ce traitement thermique comprend un refroidissement rapide à l'air, qui peut être obtenu par exemple dans un four à bande. Ce traitement thermique est réalisé sous une atmosphère réductrice.
On va décrire maintenant un exemple du dépôt électrolytique selon ce mode de réalisation de l'invention et de son procédé de préparation.
Dans cet exemple de dépôt, on a un alliage d'or de 18 carats, exempt de métaux ou métalloïdes toxiques, en particulier exempt de cadmium, de teinte 2N jaune pâle, de dureté comprise entre 200 et 300 HV 0.005, ductile notamment pour des épaisseurs entre 40 et 350 microns, de brillance excellente et ayant une très grande résistance à l'usure et au ternissement.
Ce dépôt est obtenu par une électrolyse dans un bain électrolytique suivie d'un traitement thermique à 300° C pendant 30 minutes sous atmosphère réductrice. Cette électrolyse est effectuée dans un bain électrolytique contenant les composés suivants:
Exemple :
- Au sous forme de KAu(CN)2 : 11 g.l"1 - Cu sous forme de CuCN : 2,5 g.l"1 - Zn sous forme de ZnO : 2,5 g. r1
- NaCN : 20 gl"1 " NaOH : 5.5gl"1 - KHCO3 : 5 g.l"1
- K4[EDTA ]: 5 g. I 1 - H4[EDTA] : 5 g.l"1 - pH : 8 - Température : 700C - Densité de Courant : 1 A.drrï2
- Mouillant : 0,2 mg.r1 ester phosphatidique du butyl phénolpolyglycol
- Sélénocyanate de potassium: 10 mg I"1
EDTA = acide éthylène diamine tetraacétique Dans cet exemple, le bain électrolytique, contenu dans une cuve en polypropylène ou en PVC avec revêtement calorifuge, a un pH entre 8 et 10 et sa température est de 700C. Le chauffage du bain est réalisé grâce à des thermo-plongeurs en quartz, en PTFE, en porcelaine ou en acier inoxydable stabilisé. Sa densité est comprise entre 16 et 30°g/cm3 à 20° C. Une bonne agitation cathodique ainsi qu'une circulation de l'électrolyte doit être maintenue. Les anodes sont en titane platiné ou en acier inoxydable.
Ces électrolyses sont effectuées avec un courant compris entre 1 et 2 A/dm2. Ces conditions permettent d'obtenir un rendement cathodique de 100 mg A/min/cm2 avec une vitesse de 0.5 micron/min. Bien entendu, la présente invention ne se limite pas à l'exemple illustré mais est susceptible de diverses variantes et modifications qui apparaîtront à l'homme de l'art. En particulier, le bain peut contenir de l'argent et les métaux suivants In, Cd, Zr, Se, Te, Sb, Sn, Ga, As, Sr, Be, Bi en quantité négligeable. De plus, le mouillant peut être de tout type susceptible de mouiller en milieu cyanure alcalin.
Claims
1. Procédé d'électroformage d'une couche d'un alliage d'or comprenant 88 à 94% en poids d'or, x% de cuivre et/ou d'argent en poids, et 2x% de zinc en poids, x étant compris entre 2 et 4 consistant à :
- plonger un substrat métallique dans un bain électrolytique alcalin contenant une anode, ledit bain contenant au moins des sels d'or sous forme de cyanure d'or et de potassium, des sels de cuivre sous forme de cyanure de cuivre, des sels de zinc sous forme d'oxyde de zinc et/ou des sels d'argent sous forme d'oxyde d'argent, du cyanure de sodium, de l'hydroxyde de sodium, de l'acide et un tensio-actif, ledit substrat formant une cathode,
- électroformer ladite couche en créant une tension entre l'anode et la cathode pour réaliser le dépôt des ions métalliques à la surface du substrat,
- interrompre la tension une fois que l'épaisseur de la couche électrodéposée désirée est atteinte.
2. Procédé selon la revendication 1 , caractérisé en ce que l'on fait varier la tension durant l'étape d'électroformage de ladite couche.
3. Procédé selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que l'on diminue la tension dans la phase finale de l'étape d'électroformage pour augmenter la concentration en or de la zone superficielle de la couche déposée
4. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce l'étape d'électroformage est suivie d'un traitement thermique de recuit compris entre 420° et 700° C pendant au moins 30 minutes et d'une trempe rapide.
5. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que le tensio-actif est un ester phosphatidique du butyl ou nonyl phénolpolyglycol.
6. Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que l'électroformage est effectué à une température comprise entre 40° et 80 0C et de préférence entre 60 et 75°C.
7. Pièce électroformée en alliage d'or, caractérisée en ce que l'alliage d'or est composé de 88 à 94% en poids d'or, x% de cuivre et/ou d'argent en poids, et 2x% de zinc en poids, x étant compris entre 2 et 4
8. Pièce électroformée selon la revendication 7, caractérisée en ce l'alliage est composé de 88% en poids d'or, 8% en poids de zinc et 4% en poids de cuivre.
9. Pièce électroformée selon la revendication 7 ou 8, caractérisée en ce que l'or dudit alliage est essentiellement formé de sa phase α.
