Definitions

  • the invention relates to an oil-collecting device for an internal combustion engine with a arranged below a crankcase oil collection housing according to the closer defined in the preamble of claim 1 Art.
  • a generic oil catcher is in the DE 101 05 435 A1 described. Similar devices or equipped with such devices internal combustion engines also show the DE 101 59 090 C2 and the DE 101 59 104 B4 , The two also referred to as suction, leading to the at least two housing sections with different installation depths ⁇ labsaug Oberen the oil pump are required to ensure the oil supply to the engine even in extreme driving situations.
  • the known oil catch devices meet this purpose, but they have a relatively complicated construction, which also requires a complex assembly. Another disadvantage is that for an oil change always both housing sections must be emptied separately, which also represents a major effort.
  • an oil pan is known in which two oil trap sections are provided, which have different installation depths. Between the two oil trapping sections a partition wall is provided, with which an oil suction line is connected.
  • the inventive one-piece design of the oil suction line with the insert results in a considerably simplified construction of the oil catcher according to the invention, in which also a simple installation of the insert within the Oil catcher housing is guaranteed. Furthermore, the integration of the oil suction line according to the invention into the insert part leads to a component reduction and thus to a reduction of costs.
  • the oil collection housing in the at least two housings sections with different space depth, namely a deep housing portion and a flat housing section, ensuring that even in extreme driving situations, especially in steep mountain passages, the oil pump always suck a sufficient amount of oil from the oil collection housing and can forward to the points to be lubricated.
  • the partition has at least one opening which allows a back flow of oil from the flat housing portion in the deep housing portion.
  • the backflow of the oil into the deep housing section is assisted, if, in a further advantageous embodiment, the flat housing section is inclined in the direction of the deep housing section.
  • Fig. 1 shows in a highly schematic representation of an internal combustion engine 1 with a crankcase 2, which has a crankcase upper part 3 and also referred to as bedplate crankcase lower part 4.
  • a crankcase upper part 3 On the executed in the present case in V-type crankcase 2, two cylinder heads 5a and 5b are mounted, which can be carried out in a conventional manner.
  • a crankshaft 6 is rotatably mounted in a manner also known per se.
  • an oil-collecting housing 7, which is connected to the crankcase lower part 4 and is formed in a manner also known per se for receiving the lubricating oil for the internal combustion engine 1 and is closed at the bottom by an oil pan 8.
  • the oil pan 8 may be formed, for example in the form of a lid made of sheet metal and is required because the oil trap housing 7 is formed in the present case as a die-cast part and therefore has mutual openings.
  • the internal combustion engine 1 could also be designed in a row, boxer or other construction.
  • the oil trap housing 7 has two housing sections, namely a in Fig. 2 approximately completely recognizable, flat housing portion 12 and a subsequent to the flat housing portion 12, deep housing portion 13 which receives the largest amount of lubricating oil for the internal combustion engine 1 and thus forms the actual oil sump and on the outside of the oil cooler 10 and the oil filter 11th are located.
  • the flat housing section 12 has a central recess 14 formed out of the bottom thereof, which is located between two elevations 15 and whose function will be explained in more detail below.
  • an insert 16 and an oil pump 17 are disposed within the oil trap housing 7, which together with the oil trap housing 7 form an oil-collecting device 18 for the internal combustion engine 1.
  • the in the present case of plastic and not shown in the manner screwed to the oil trap housing 7 insert 16 has a partition 19, which has a vertical portion 19a and a horizontal portion 19b and the two housing sections 12 and 13 separated from each other.
  • the partition wall 19 prevents the oil located in the deep housing section 13 from flowing completely into the flat housing section 12.
  • two oil suction pipes 20 and 21, with the first oil suction pipe 20 provided therefor lead out the deep housing portion 13, in which there is the significant larger amount of oil to suck oil.
  • the first ⁇ labsaugtechnisch 20 extends approximately to the bottom of the deep housing portion 13.
  • the second, leading to the flat housing portion 12 ⁇ labsaug réelle 21 is integrally formed with the insert 16 and has a flexible portion 21 a, which is movable with the oil pump 17 is connected so that any component and assembly tolerances can be compensated.
  • the recess 14 serves to receive the ⁇ labsaug effet 21 and the contour is replicated, so that the smallest possible space between these two components remains.
  • the oil pump 17 constantly sucks oil via both oil suction lines 20 and 21 and directs it to the cylinder heads 5a and 5b, and in the case where there is no oil in the flat housing section 12, substantially only air is drawn via the oil suction line 21 ,
  • the leading to the flat housing section 12 ⁇ labsaug effet 20 approximately to the surrounding the oil trap housing 7 wall 9, so when driving uphill in the flat housing portion 12, ie in the rear region of the oil collection housing 7, accumulating lubricating oil the oil pump 17 can be sucked in via the oil suction line 21 and pumped into the deep housing section 13, ie into the front region of the oil catch housing 7.
  • the wall 9 forms on its upper side a separating surface 22, to which it is connected to the crankcase lower part 4 of the crankcase 2.
  • the insert 16 has two arranged on both sides of the oil trap housing 7 oil return channels 23 and 24, with which the back flowing from the cylinder heads 5a and 5b via the crankcase 2 oil in a conventional manner in the two housing sections 12 and 13 of the oil collection housing 7 is passed ,
  • the two oil return channels 23 and 24 are connected to each other via the partition wall 19 and two in the front and rear of the insert 16 webs 25 and 26, respectively, to give the insert 16, the necessary rigidity.
  • the remote in the rear, so the oil pump 17 region of the insert 16 extending web 26 also serves to hold the ⁇ labsaugtechnisch 21 for the flat housing portion 12th
  • the oil flowing back from the cylinder heads 5a and 5b also enters the flat housing section 12, by adapting the shape of the insert 16 to the shape of the oil catch housing 7 in the region of the flat housing section 12, in particular by the design of Recess 14 and the two elevations 15, the volume of the flat housing portion 12 minimized to allow only a minimum amount of oil into the flat housing portion 12 to pass.
  • the flat housing portion 12 inclined in the direction of the deep housing portion 13.
  • openings 27 and 28 which, as in Fig. 6 can be seen, are formed by respective recesses in a two housing sections 12 and 13 against each other sealing sealing element 29, to whose inclusion the partition wall 19 has a corresponding groove 30.
  • the openings 27 and 28 have a defined, relatively small size, for example, 10 to 20 mm 2 , so that the oil can not flow through the same from the deep housing portion 13 in the flat housing portion 12.
  • the cross section and the number of openings 27 and 28 depend in particular on the size of the two housing sections 12 and 13.
  • the partition 19 thus separates in the dynamic state, so for example when driving uphill, the two housing sections 12 and 13 from each other, whereas in the static state, ie at rest of the internal combustion engine 1, due to the two openings 27 and 28 no separation of the two housing sections 12 and 13 more is given.
