Definitions
- the invention relates to an insulating glass unit comprising at least two panes with an elastoplastic spacer tape comprising a shell and a core of a desiccant and for adhering to opposite disc surfaces certain side surfaces, an intended interior space between the discs facing inner surface and, the latter opposite, an outer surface has, which is coated with a vapor barrier layer.
- Such a spacer strip is out of EP 0 261 923 B1 known. It is preferably made of silicone foam, to which about 30% of a desiccant (hereinafter also briefly for a mixture of several desiccants) are added. So that the desiccant can fulfill its task of dehumidifying the interior space between the panes, the silicone foam is open-pored. Therefore, on the outside of the spacer tape a (water) vapor barrier layer is required, which should also be resistant to UV radiation, but not hinder the bending of the band in tight radii of curvature or bending (after punching a corner wedge) in the corners of an insulating glass unit should. Although the very thin aluminum layer which is generally applied by sputtering does not hinder the bending or bending of the spacer strip, it does tend to form microcracks which impair the vapor diffusion tightness.
- a desiccant hereinafter also briefly for a mixture of several desiccants
- the spacer tape made of silicone foam with admixed desiccant, it has only one limited dimensional stability.
- the silicone foam can be added only comparatively little desiccant, otherwise both the strength and the elastic properties of the band suffer.
- the spacer consists of a plastic hollow profile, which is preferably glass fiber reinforced and contains a desiccant, which communicates via openings in the spacer with the interior of the insulating glass unit.
- a similar spacer is from the DE 26 36 433 A1 known. It consists of a plastic hollow profile, for example PVC, which is filled with a desiccant.
- the invention has for its object to provide an insulating glass unit with a spacer strip of the type mentioned in the introduction, which combines a high dimensional stability with a high capacity for the absorption of water vapor.
- the sheath consists of a silicone material, that the desiccant of the core is plastic bonded and that the silicone sheath and the desiccant core are coextruded.
- the invention thus consists in assigning the different functions of the spacer strip from each other separate materials.
- the silicone-free, desiccant-free jacket ensures UV resistance, elasticity and high dimensional stability.
- the desiccant core can make up a substantial portion of the cross-section of the belt so that the volume fraction of desiccant can be increased up to 70%. Accordingly, the water vapor absorption capacity ever becomes larger Length unit of the band. This prolongs the life of the insulating glass unit, ie the time it takes for saturation of the desiccant to form condensation in the interior of the insulating glass unit. At the same time expensive silicone material is saved in the production of the tape.
- the silicone sheath must be formed permeable to water vapor, at least in the region of the inner surface of the band.
- it may consist entirely of open-pored silicone foam.
- the silicone sheath can be substantially or completely solid and open-pored only in the region of the inner surface of the band.
- the silicone shell may be solid but micro-perforated in the region of the inner surface of the band.
- Another possibility is to create a massive, i. pore-free silicone sheath in the region of the inner surface of the band with one, but preferably several narrow slits to provide.
- this slot can be filled with an open-pored plastic, preferably by way of coextrusion.
- the vapor barrier layer is preferably made of a thin sheet of stainless steel. This film is diffusion-tight, insensitive to bending and buckling and other than aluminum corrosion resistant.
- the steel foil can both edges of the band between its outer surface and embrace its side surfaces and then sits very firmly.
- Each side surface of the band may have a retracted partial surface longitudinally following the edge of the outer surface.
- the steel foil can at least partially cover the retracted partial surfaces of the side surfaces of the band. This further improves the adhesion of the steel foil to the strip.
- At least the retracted partial surfaces of the side surfaces of the band are coatable in the course of its application between the two glass panes with a butyl adhesive, which ensures the vapor diffusion tightness.
- the remaining side surfaces can with a commercially strong ahotrosiven adhesive, z. As acrylic-based, coated.
- the steel foil may be glued to the tape.
- the steel foil may be bonded to the belt by coextrusion.
- the spacer strip can be applied peripherally to the first glass pane as follows using a device known per se (the second glass pane is then pressed against the composite of the first glass pane and the spacer strip):
- the smooth or stepped according to the invention formed side surfaces of the band are over part of their height, for example over half the height, coated with the above-mentioned strongly adhesive adhesive, which is initially covered with a protective film. After removing the protective film, a thin strand of butyl adhesive is applied to the remaining part of the respective side surface. Immediately thereafter, the tape is applied against the first glass and adheres to this immovable.
- the adherent to the disc specific, but non-adhesive side surface of the tape after its removal from a tape supply treated before applying and expediently shortly before applying the Butylstranges by means of high-energy radiation.
- This surface treatment which is known in particular as a corona process and as a plasma process, can extend over the entire height of the respective side surface or only on that part surface which is coated with the strongly adhesive adhesive when using the previously described method.
- the treatment of the surface with high-energy radiation replaces the strongly adhesive adhesive and leads to an activation of the surface, which makes the latter itself highly adhesive, after the usual explanation by "incorporation" of oxygen atoms or ozone molecules, the wetting and adhesive properties of plastics in particular considerably improve on smooth materials such as glass.
- Fig. 1 shows a spacer strip 1 according to the invention between the panes 2 and 3 of an insulating glass unit.
- the band 1 is immovably fixed by a known per se adhesive adhesive 4, in particular an adhesive based on acrylate.
- This adhesive is preferably already before applying the tape 1 on the side surfaces and, as is known, activated by peeling off protective films immediately before applying. Since the known, highly adhesive adhesives are not resistant to diffusion of vapor, is located between the side surfaces of the strip and the glass also has a vapor-resistant adhesive 5, usually a butyl adhesive. This is applied immediately before the application of the tape and permanently retains its viscoelastic properties, as also known.
- the supernatant of the glass sheets 2 and 3 on the spacer strip 1 forms the usual, circumferential edge joint, which is also known, in the next manufacturing step with a polymerizing plastic, in particular based on polysulfide, filled (not shown).
- the spacer strip 1 consists in this embodiment of a silicone shell 1.1, here from open-celled silicone foam (symbolically indicated in Fig. 1) and a core, here, for example, with circular cross-section of a resin-bonded desiccant or desiccant 1.2.
- the outer surface of the spacer strip 1 is covered with a thin sheet of stainless steel 1.3.
- This film 1.3 can be laminated on the spacer strip 1, for example.
- the film is so thin and stretchable that it also bends the tape 1 (after the inside punching corner wedges) in the corners of the insulating glass unit without microcracks forming.
- FIG. 2 shows a similar embodiment of the spacer band 1. It comprises an outer surface 11, two opposing side surfaces 12 and 13 and an inner surface 14. Seen from the outer surface 11, the side surfaces 12 and 13 adjoin the outer surface edges 11a and 11b 11 each a retracted part surface 12a and 13a. The steel foil 1.3 on the outer surface 11 is folded around the edges 11a and 11b, so that the lateral edges of the steel foil 1.3 partially cover the partial surfaces 12a and 13a of the band. The remaining areas of the side surfaces are coated with the adhesive 4 as in FIG. 1. As in the case of Figure 1, the band consists of a silicone sheath 1.1 and has a core cavity 1.4 for the desiccant.
- the silicone sheath 1.1 in this embodiment is made of solid, non-porous silicone.
- the inner surface 14 of the tape is provided with numerous microholes 1.5, which are indicated enlarged here.
- FIG. 3 shows a similar embodiment, in which, however, the likewise solid silicone sheath 1.1 in the area of the inner surface of the strip has a narrow longitudinal slot 1.6, which ensures a connection permeable to water vapor between the interior of the pane and the core cavity 1.4.
- a plurality of separate and possibly staggered slots may be provided.
- FIG. 4 shows a further embodiment which, instead of the narrow slot 1.6, has a considerably wider slot 1.7 in the silicone jacket 1.1.
- This slot is 1.7 with an open-pored plastic 1.8, eg again silicone foam, filled, is diffused through the water vapor from the disc interior to the desiccant 1.2 and absorbed by it.
- the side surfaces 12 and 13 of the tape are not coated with the high adhesive adhesive 4, but obtain their strong adhesive property by irradiation with high energy radiation, e.g. after the corona process, in the applicator, not shown, shortly before the application of the two-sided Butylstrfite. 5

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1
- das applizierte Abstandhalterband zwischen zwei Glasscheiben;
