Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of making a spacer tube (1) for a multiple glazed unit, and the spacer unit itself, in which the spacer tube (l)comprises a body (2) and a cavity (5) formed within the body (2), wherein the body (2) comprises a plastic material and the cavity (5) contains a moisture absorbent (12) at least partially encapsulated in a matrix and wherein the spacer tube (1) is made by mixing the moisture absorbent (12) with the matrix material and then; i) co-extruding the mixture with the material making the body (2) of the spacer tube (1), or ii) extruding the material making the body 2) of the spacer tube (1) to form the body (2) and injecting the mixture of the moisture absorbent (12)and matrix into the cavity (5) of the body (2).
