Definitions
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic arrangement of the components used for the operation.
- a charge image carrier 1 (in FIG. 1 a photoconductor drum, likewise the intermediate carrier can be a photoconductor belt) moves at a constant speed past the components 2-7, 10-14.
- the charge image carrier 1 is charged by a charging corotron 2.
- the image to be printed is generated with sharply focused light as a charge image by a character generator 3 on the charge image carrier 1.
- the charge image is colored with toner in a developer station 4.
- the developer station 4 has at least one device for transporting the toner, which transports the developer 5 consisting of toner and a carrier (carrier) to the charge image carrier 1.
- the toner is transferred to the charge carrier 1 in the gap between developer station 4 and charge image carrier 1 in accordance with the charge images.
- the toner image is transferred to a recording medium 8, eg paper, in a transfer station 6, for example with the aid of a transfer corotron 7, and then fixed in a fixing station 9 (not shown).
- a recording medium 8 eg paper
- a transfer station 6 for example with the aid of a transfer corotron 7, and then fixed in a fixing station 9 (not shown).
- On closing the charge image carrier 1 is neutralized electrostatically with a Korotron 10.
- the residual toner still adhering to the charge image carrier 1 is removed for a new image cycle by means of a cleaning device 11, for example a cleaning brush 12 and suction unit 13.
- the charge image carrier 1 is illuminated by a discharge lamp 14 to improve its long-term behavior.
- the charge image carrier 1 is prepared for a new printing cycle.
- FIG. 2 an example of a conventional developer station 4 is shown, which contains a device 15 for transporting toner to a charge image carrier 1.
- the device for transporting the toner is realized in FIG. 2 as a magnetic roller 16 with a rotating roller 17, which has an electrically conductive roller sleeve 22, on which the developer 5 adheres, and with a magnet system 18 arranged in the interior Winder 5 is mixed in the developer station 4, while the toner charges triboelectrically by friction.
- the developer Corresponding to the magnetic field lines of the magnet system 18, the developer then forms chains 19 which bridge the developer gap 20 and contact the charge image carrier 1.
- the toner Due to the charge of the charge image carrier 1 and the potential difference between the charge image carrier 1 and the magnetic roller 16, the toner is released from the carrier and passes onto the charge carrier 1. By contrast, the carrier falls back into the developer station 4. By a scraper 21, the height of the developer 5 is set on the roller sleeve 22.
- Another developer station can be found in DE 101 52 892.2.
- a charged toner is moved past a charge applicator roller past a tensioning applicator roller, thereby dyeing charge images on the charge carrier.
- a magnetic roller is provided as an example of a device for transporting toner to a charge image carrier.
- it can also be a further magnetic roller which conveys developer to a magnetic roller or to an applicator roller according to DE 101 52 892.2.
- the device can also be used for cleaning a charge image carrier, a toner-transporting roll or an applicator roll. The following is therefore for all applications Cases of the device summarized by a Toner ⁇ annealing unit spoken.
- the toner attachment units used in electrophotographic printing devices thus have, as shown in FIG. 2, at least one roller 17 with a sleeve (roller sleeve 22) on which the toner adheres.
- they are subject to an undesired toner deposition process on the roll shell, with the result that the transport of toner is adversely affected.
- DE 101 52 892.2 deals primarily with a cleaning roller with which the toner remaining from the surface of an applicator roller is cleaned after development.
- This cleaning roller has a tube made of CrNi as a roller shell, on which a ceramic layer is applied, which is coated with Teflon.
- the Teflon coating is applied to the roll shell in an aqueous solution and by mechanical densification.
- the object of the teflon layer is, on the one hand, to prevent adhesion and sealing of the toner in the ceramic layer by toner, and on the other hand, it is intended as a protection against contact and handling of the ceramic layer.
- the application of the Teflon layer requires a complex manufacturing process in which the individual components must be thoroughly mixed. In a not exactly kept production process, it may already be in the Switch-on phase of the developer station to cleaning problems such as the applicator come.
- the problem to be solved by the invention is to provide a method by which a toner-carrying roller, e.g. a cleaning roller in a developer station ei ⁇ ner electrographic printing or copying device can be maraf ⁇ fen, in which toner particles can not settle in the Tä ⁇ learning the ceramic layer, also the electrical see or thermal properties are more uniform on the surface of the roll shell ,
- the surface of the roll shell thus the Ke ⁇ ramik für, processed again by irradiation by a blasting material.
- the surface of the ceramic layer is cleaned of scalings, oxidation layers and dirt particles.
- the surface of the ceramic layer is mechanically densified.
- the toner particles can not settle in the depressions or valleys of the ceramic layer, but can detach themselves over and over again.
- the electrical and thermal conductivity on the surface of the roller becomes more uniform. The result is a significantly improved cleaning behavior in relation to the toner adsorption unit, in particular also in the switching-on phase of the developer station.
- glass beads are used as blasting material. These may have a diameter which is in the range of about 100 to 200 microns.
- a radiation source for the blasting material can be arranged approximately 30 mm away from the roller. The result is particularly good when the glass balls impinge on the surface of the roller with a jet pressure of approx. 2 bar.
- Plasma coating can be used as the method for applying the ceramic layer.
- the roller may have a CrNi tube.
- the roller according to the invention is particularly suitable as a cleaning roller for cleaning a toner adsorption unit, in particular an applicator roller, which transports toner past a charge image carrier during development of the charge images.
- FIG. 3 shows, in principle, a section of a developing station corresponding to DE 101 52 892.2, which shows an applicator roller 30 and a cleaning roller 31 arranged adjacent to the applicator roller 30.
- the applicator roller 30 transports toner to a charge image carrier (not shown). provides).
- the residual toner not transferred to the charge image carrier must now be cleaned off from the applicator roller 30 by the cleaning roller 31.
- the cleaning roller 31 can be provided with a magnet system 32, furthermore, a potential difference between applicator roller 30 and cleaning roller 31 can be provided.
- the residual toner is then supported by the magnet system 32 and the potential on the cleaning roller 31 via.
- the cleaning roller 31 has a tube 33 as a roller shell, for example of CrNi, which is covered with a ceramic layer 34.
- the surface of the ceramic layer 34 is now treated according to the above-described method be ⁇ that the toner easily dissolves from the surface of the cleaning roller 31.
