- the information occurring in the exercise of the function (game information, such as scores, game sequence or defeats) can be visually and / or acoustically displayed via display means.
- the functional logic may be implemented as hardware and / or software in the device.
- the invention has for its object to provide an electronic device that allows the execution of a variety of different functions in a very simple and inexpensive way.
- an electronic device which consists of a main module and at least one attachable to this submodule, wherein the submodule includes a circuit, in cooperation with another circuit in the main module, the device for exercising one for the respective Sub-module ertricht specific function, and wherein the circuit is formed in the at least one sub-module as an organic circuit.
- the device according to the invention is preferably a game device, the function being a game function.
- the essential advantage of the electronic device according to the invention is that different functions of the device can be realized depending on the submodule connected to the main module, wherein the submodule can be produced very inexpensively as a mass-produced article in that its circuit is designed as an organic circuit.
- the submodule is selectable from a plurality of different types of submodules, each with different circuits for different functions.
- the sub-module itself is preferably designed as a plastic card or film on which the circuit, for example, in a printing technique, for. B. using polymers in solution (so-called electronic ink) is realized.

- the attachment of the submodule to the main module generally involves securing, e.g.
- the submodule to the main module, wherein the two circuits either contact-bound, for example via a connector, or contactless, for example via a transponder function, for.
- Radio Frequency Identification RFID, or optical, z. B. with a light emitting element and a light detector communicate with each other.
- At least two sub-modules can be attached to the main module, which sub-modules can be selected from a plurality of different types of sub-modules, each with different circuits, whereby only given combinations of Types of submodules whose circuits, in cooperation with the further circuit in the main module, enable the device to perform a function specific to the respective combinations of types of submodules.
- two players can only perform a certain game function together with the game device according to the invention if the submodules in the possession of the player allow this in combination.
- the sub-modules are preferably designed as disposable goods, including one of the two circuits in the submodule or main module shutdown means that detect the use of the submodule to the main module and permanently prevent the further interaction of both circuits after exceeding a predetermined range of use.
- the shutdown takes place in the sub-module, by changing the circuit, for example, by changing a function-relevant bit information or destroyed at a functionally relevant point. Preventing further interaction of both circuits in The main and submodule can be done after a single or multiple use.
- the shutdown means for detecting the scope of use of the submodule are preferably for monitoring the course of the exercised function, for. As the game history, trained, depending on the score, after a predetermined number of plays or actions of the player or after a predetermined number of played, won or lost games, the further use of the submodule is made impossible.
- the functions that can be exercised by the device can be implemented as functional logic in the circuit of the main module, wherein the circuit in the submodule has enabling means for enabling the respective specific function in the main module. Additionally or alternatively, the circuit in the sub-module may include additional logic that, together with a functional logic contained in the main module allows the exercise of the respective function. Additional logic and functional logic can be implemented in hardware and / or software in the respective circuits of the main and submodule.
- the at least one sub-module preferably has input means, for example a pressure switch or sensor, and / or display means such.
- input means for example a pressure switch or sensor, and / or display means such.
- an organic light emitting diode an electrochromic element or an electroluminescent element on.
- FIG. 1 shows in the form of a simplified block diagram of the consisting of a main module 1 and at least one submodule 2 electronic game device. As indicated by dashed lines, the main module 1 can optionally be designed for use with further sub-modules 3.
- the main module 1 includes one of a power supply 4, z.
- a power supply 4 As a battery or solar cell, powered circuit 5 with the hardware and / or software a function logic, here a game logic, is realized.
- input means 6, z As buttons or sensors (eg., For temperature or light), for game influencing and display means 7, here for example a loudspeaker 8, a lamp 9 and a display 10 for acoustic or visual display of game information is connected.
- the circuit 5 has a connection part 11, for. As a plug part or an inductive pickup, for electrical connection of the sub-module 2 and possibly other connecting parts 12 for the other sub-modules. 3
- the submodule 2 also contains a circuit 13 with input means 14 connected thereto for game influencing and display means 15 for displaying game information and with a connecting part 16 for connection to the connecting part 11 of the main module 1.
- the structure of the further submodules 3 corresponds to that of the submodule 2
- Circuit 13 of the sub-module 2 contains a hardware and possibly software implemented additional logic that allows together with the game logic contained in the main module 1, the exercise of a specific for the respective sub-module game function.
- the circuit 13 of the sub-module 2 further includes shut-off means 17 which detect the use of the sub-module 2 to the main module 1 and after exceeding a predetermined range of use, the further interaction of both Permanently prevent circuits 5 and 13.
- the shutdown 17 exist here in the form of a required for the functioning of the circuit 13 partial logic, z. B. a particular combination of bits that permanently changed during the game, for example, after a predetermined number of games, by the circuit of the main module 1, z. B. is destroyed by current flow. Subsequently, the sub-module 1 is no longer useful.
- the circuit 5 in the main module 1 performs the main work in the execution of the game function, while the circuit in the sub-module 2 perceives only minor, but essential for the game tasks. Accordingly, the circuit 5 of the main module 1 is comparatively complex and typically realized in conventional silicon technology.
- the comparatively simple circuit 13 and the input and display means 14 and 15 of the submodule 2 are implemented in polymer electronics, here as IPC and OLED, wherein the submodule 2 itself is designed as a plastic card or film.
- FIG. 2 shows a trained as a toy spaceship main module 19 to which four different types of sub-modules 20, 21, 22 and 23 are connected with different circuits at different locations.
- Each of the sub-modules 20, 21, 22 and 23 assumes in cooperation with the circuit in the main module 19 has a partial function, such. B. shield function, offensive weapons, spaceship drive and on-board power supply in the context of a total game function.
- the sub-functions can be independent of each other, so that the game even with a sub-module, z. 21, but then to a limited extent, or the sub-functions may be interdependent so that only if one is in possession of at least two, three or all four matching types of sub-modules is play possible. With another combination of matching sub-modules is a different game variant possible with the same main module 19.
- Other types of sub-modules may be unusable for the toy spacecraft 19 shown here, but may be suitable for other types of gaming machines.
- the submodule instead of the game devices shown here, for example, other electronic devices, such as communication devices or medical devices, conceivable, the submodules the respective main module for exercising different communication functions or patient-related diagnostic functions trained.
