Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kopf für Golfschläger, der über einen Schlägerhals mit dem Schaft eines Golfschlägers zu verbinden ist, und der eine Schlagfläche aüfweist.
Köpfe für Golfschläger sind in verschiedenen Ausführungsformen bekannt (siehe zum Beispiel Dokument GB-A-909 011), darunter die grundsätzlichen Ausführungsformen "Woods" (Holz), "Irons" (Eisen), "Wedges" oder "Putter".
Solche Köpfe für Golfschläger können aus Holz, aus Kunststoff, aus Metall oder aus einer Kombination von wenigstens zwei dieser Werkstoffe bestehen.
Köpfe für Golfschläger der eingangs genannten Gattung haben sich grundsätzlich bewährt. Bei größeren Ausführungsformen von Köpfen für Golfschläger, insbesondere solchen mit großflächiger Unterseite (insbesondere Golfschläger des Typs "Woods"), wird derzeit fast ausschließlich Metall als Werkstoff benützt.
Für eine große Fluglänge des Golfballes ist eine möglichst hohe Schlägerkopfgeschwindigkeit im Moment des Kontaktes zwischen Ball und Golfschläger erforderlich. Weil der (kleine) Golfball mit seinem relativ hohen Gewicht meistens etwas im Gras eingebettet liegt, wird der Golfschläger so tief durchgeschwungen, dass der Kopf des Golfschlägers kurz vor und/oder im Moment der Berührung des Balls den Boden streift. Insbesondere bei höherem Gras ist dieser Kontakt zwischen Kopf des Golfschlägers und Boden nachteilig, da der Kopf des Golfschlägers abgebremst wird und damit auf Grund der verringerten Schlägerkopfgeschwindigkeit eine verkürzte Fluglänge des Golfballs auftritt. Die Erfahrung hat gezeigt, dass die größte Bremswirkung bei nassem Gras entsteht, was nicht selten der Fall ist.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zu Grunde, einen Kopf für Golfschläger vorzustellen, bei dem die Bremswirkung bei Kontakt des durchschwingenden Kopfes des Golfschlägers mit dem Boden verringert ist, so dass eine hohe Schlägerkopfgeschwindigkeit erhalten bleibt, wenn der Kopf des Golfschlägers den Golfball berührt.
Gelöst wird diese Aufgabe mit den Merkmalen des unabhängigen Anspruches 1.
Bevorzugte und vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen des erfindungsgemäßen Kopfes für Golfschläger sind Gegenstand der Unteransprüche.
Da die zum Boden hin gerichtete Unterseite des Schlägerkopfes (Sohle) mit einem dreidimensionalen, fischschuppenartigen Profil versehen ist, wird nicht nur die Berührungsfläche zwischen Boden und Kopf des Golfschlägers verkleinert, sondern mittels Lufteinschlüssen und Abrisskanten an den Schuppenhinterseiten auch eine reibungserzeugende Vakuumbildung verhindert.
Vorteilhaft kann es bei der Erfindung sein, die Bremswirkung zwischen Sohle des Schlägerkopfes und Boden durch eine reibungsarme Sohle des Kopfes des Golfschlägers zu verringern. Bevorzugte Werkstoffe können Kunststoffe, wie Polyethylen, Polyacetral-Kunststoff (Delrin, TM) oder Teflon, sein. Vorteilhaft bei diesen Werkstoffen ist es überdies, dass sie sich in einfacher Weise durch Heißprägen oder Spritzgießen in der gewünschten Form herstellen lassen.
Weitere Einzelheiten und Merkmale der Erfindung ergeben sich aus der nachstehenden Beschreibung anhand der Zeichnung, in der in Schrägansicht ein erfindungsgemäßer Kopf für Golfschläger dargestellt ist.
Es ist zunächst darauf hinzuweisen, dass, obwohl in der Zeichnung ein Kopf für Golfschläger des Typs "Woods" (Holz) gezeigt ist, die Erfindung nicht auf Köpfe von Golfschlägern des Typs "Woods" beschränkt ist. Vielmehr kann die Erfindung mit gleichem Vorteil auch an Köpfen für Golfschläger der Typen "Irons", "Wedges" und "Putter" verwirklicht werden.
Der im Ausführungsbeispiel gezeigte Kopf 1 des Typs "Woods" besteht vorzugsweise aus Metall, wie beispielsweise Stahl oder einer Titanlegierung und besitzt eine horizontal gerillte Schlagfläche 2, einen Schlägerhals 3, über den der Kopf 1 mit einem (nicht gezeigten) Schaft eines Golfschlägers verbunden wird. Die dem Schlägerhals 3 gegenüberliegende Sohle 4 des Kopfes 1, also die Seite des Kopfes 1, die dem Schlägerhals 3 gegenüberliegt, ist mit einem dreidimensionalen, fischschuppenartigen Profil versehen. Dieses fischschuppenartige Profil ist beispielsweise eine Einlage in die Sohle 4 des Kopfes 1 aus reibungsarmem Kunststoff (beispielsweise Polyethylen, Delrin (TM) oder Teflon).
In der Zeichnung ist auch gezeigt, dass die Schuppen, welche die Profilierung an der Sohle 4 des Kopfes 1 bilden, von der Schlagfläche 2 des Kopfes 1 weg konvex gekrümmte Ränder aufweisen. Dadurch wird der erfindungsgemäß angestrebte reibungsvermindernde Effekt verbessert.
In dem gezeigten Ausführungsbeispiel ist die Anordnung der die Profilierung an der Sohle 4 des Kopfes 1 bildenden Schuppen so gewählt, dass diese in zur Schlagfläche 2 des Kopfes 1 schräg verlaufenden Reihen angeordnet sind.
Des weiteren sind die Schuppen so angeordnet, dass die Schuppen in aufeinanderfolgenden, zur Schlagfläche 2 im wesentlichen parallel verlaufenden Reihen zueinander versetzt angeordnet sind.
Die Sohle 4 des erfindungsgemäßen Kopfes für Golfschläger, welche die fischschuppenartige Profilierung trägt, ist am Kopf 1 bevorzugt austauschbar befestigt. Dies kann beispielsweise durch eine Verschraubung oder eine Verklebung erreicht werden.
Ein Vorteil der erfindungsgemäßen Ausbildung der Sohle 4 des Kopfes 1 für Golfschläger mit der fischschuppenartigen Profilierung, insbesondere der Ausführungsform, wie sie oben beschrieben worden ist, hat im Gegensatz zu sogenannten Fairway-Schlägerköpfen des Typs "Woods" mit an der der Sohle in Schlagrichtung angebrachten Rippen oder Kanälen, die den Reibungswiderstand verringern sollen, den Vorteil, dass bei der erfindungsgemäßen fischschuppenartigen Profilierung der Sohle 4 auch dann kein erhöhter Reibungswiderstand auftritt, wenn der Schlägerkopf mit seiner Schlagfläche nicht genau rechtwinkelig über dem Boden durchgeschwungen wird.

Claims (13)

  1. Kopf (1) für Golfschläger, der über einen Schlägerhals (3) mit dem Schaft eines Golfschlägers zu verbinden ist, und der eine Schlagfläche (2) aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die vom Schlägerhals (3) abgewendete, bei Gebrauch des Golfschlägers zum Boden hin gerichtete, dem Schlägerhals (3) gegenüberliegende Sohle (4) des Kopfes (1) fischschuppenartig profiliert ist.
  2. Kopf nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die die Profilierung an der Sohle (4) des Kopfes (1) bildenden Schuppen von der Schlagfläche (2) des Kopfes (1) weg konvex gekrümmte Ränder aufweisen.
  3. Kopf nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Schuppen an der Sohle (4) des Kopfes (1) in zur Schlagfläche (2) des Kopfes (1) schräg verlaufenden Reihen angeordnet sind.
  4. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die die Profilierung der Sohle (4) bildenden Schuppen zueinander versetzt angeordnet sind.
  5. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Sohle (4) des Kopfes (1) mit einer Beschichtung aus reibungsarmem Kunststoff versehen ist.
  6. Kopf nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Kunststoff ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe bestehend aus Teflon, Delrin (TM) oder Polyethylen.
  7. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die fischschuppenartig profilierte Sohle (4) am Kopf (1) austauschbar befestigt ist.
  8. Kopf nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Sohle (4) mit dem Kopf (1) verschraubt oder verklebt ist.
  9. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Kopf aus Holz, Kunststoff, Metall oder aus einer Kombination von wenigstens zweien dieser Werkstoffe besteht.
  10. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass er die Form eines Kopfes des Typs "Woods" besitzt.
  11. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass er die Form eines Kopfes des Typs "Irons" besitzt.
  12. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass er die Form eines Kopfes des Typs "Putter" besitzt.
  13. Kopf nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass er die Form eines Kopfes des Typs "Wedges" besitzt.
