- a sleeve 34 is generally cylindrical and has an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the cylindrical spout portion 28, but less than the diameter of the flange 31, so that the spout 26 can be slid through the sleeve 34 but through the flange therein 31 is held.
- the bushing 34 can be placed on the cable 14 by sliding the plug 12 through the bushing before mounting the grommet and the tensioning part on the cable.
- the bushing 34 is provided with an internal threading in its region facing the front side of the plug arrangement (in FIG Fig. 3 Not shown).
- a C-ring stop 36 may, as in Fig. 4 shown on the cable 14, adjacent to the cable connector 12, are used as a thrust element for the clamping part 18 during assembly.
- a housing as a whole is substantially cylindrical, preferably formed from a die-cast metal, and has a transverse partition wall 40 (FIG. Fig. 7, 8 . 11 ) with an opening 41 ( Fig. 11 ), which corresponds to the cross-sectional profile of the cable connector 12.
- the opening 41 is provided with a recess 60 for receiving the resilient arm 58 and for holding the resilient arm 58 in a depressed position.
- the partition 40 is disposed within the housing 38 at a longitudinal location selected to provide a corresponding positioning of the cable plug 12 in the housing.
- the housing 38 has an externally threaded portion 42 for cooperation with the sleeve 34 during assembly.
- the housing 38 is provided with a longitudinal groove 44 on its inner side to engage in a corresponding counter-longitudinal rib 46 on the clamping member 18, so that a mutual rotation during assembly is prevented.
- the long-life cable connector assembly 10 as in Fig. 5 shown assembled to a complete assembly 10, as in Fig. 6 shown to form.
- the cable connector 12 and the C-ring stopper 36 are inserted through the opening 41 in the housing 38 until they are stopped by a step 43 in the cable connector 12.
- the clamping member 18 is inserted into the housing 38 until the clamping member is engaged with the C-ring stopper 36, the rib 46 being aligned and sliding into the corresponding mating groove 44.
- the spout 26 is engaged with the tapered portion 22 of the tension member 18.
- the bushing 34 is pushed over the nozzle 26 until the bush rests against the flange 31.
- the spout 26 protrudes, as in Fig. 6 shown beyond the socket (on the back).
- the bush 34 is then screwed onto the thread 42 on the housing 38.
- the grommet 26 is moved against the clamping member 18 and thus causes the conical section 22 is pressed radially on the cable 14.
- the plug 12 is pushed against the partition wall 40 and is thus firmly and correctly positioned in the housing 38. If the sleeve 34 is fixedly secured to the housing 38 and thus the clamping member 18 is pressed firmly against the cable 14, a sealing tape 45 can be clipped on the spout 26 to the cable 14 to fix the spout thereto.
- Annular slots 32 in the spout 26 allow the spout to also bend as the cable 14 is bent.

- a longitudinal rib 51 on the female connector 48 mates with a corresponding counter-longitudinal groove 53 in the housing 38 to positively orient the cable connector 12 in its angular position with respect to the aperture 50 for safe insertion.
- the depth of the recess 52 in the longitudinal direction is selected so that when the housing 38 has reached the bottom of the recess 52, the contacts 16 of the plug are correctly positioned in contact with the contacts 54 of the female connector 48.
- the plug assembly 10 is releasably held in the receptacle 48 by a latch 56.
