Definitions
- the invention relates to low alkaline machine dishwashing detergents containing methylglycinediacetic acid (MGDA) or a salt thereof and which preferably have a reduced level of bleaching agent.
- MGDA methylglycinediacetic acid
- Fr-A 1 590 416 also discloses caustic compositions without bleaches based on alkali hydroxides, pyrophosphates and NTA.
- EP-A-530 635 discloses acidic to mildly alkaline compositions (pH 5-9) which contain no complexing agents and are based on builders, enzymes and optionally oxygen bleaches.
- DE-A-3 833 047 discloses acidic compositions (pH 2-6) with hydrolases and builders or complexing agents.
- the examples disclose compositions with high NTA or EDTA content (up to 30%). Although these compositions can, for example, remove tar residues well, their effect on milk residues is measured on a scale of 0 to 10, but always below 5.
- DE-A-4 319 935 discloses the use of MGDA in machine dishwashing detergents, without giving an example.
- MGDA methylglycinediacetic acid
- the same information can also be the " Preliminary Technical Information, Trilon® ES 9964 ", April 1995 , which are taken from BASF AG.
- the dishwashing detergents disclosed therein contain 5-30% MGDA and 1.12% active oxygen, with MGDA achieving a similar result as the NTA in inhibiting plaque (formation of calcium carbonate deposits).
- the effectiveness of the dishwashing detergent for milk residues or tar residues is not mentioned.
- MGDA is said to better dissolve calcium phosphate residues in dairy cleaning than NTA. Dairy cleaning usually involves working in the strongly alkaline range.
- MGDA is said to have a better effect, in particular in the case of blood-soiled laundry, than phosphonates and, in the case of tea-soiled laundry, have approximately the same effect as phosphonates.
- MGDA in a dishwashing detergent similar to NTA, exhibits a very good deposit inhibition on glass, metal and porcelain, revealing a dishwashing detergent which in solution has a pH of more than 10.5 provides. It is also proposed to use MGDA in very strong alkaline conditions for dairy cleaning.
- a dishwashing detergent should have an excellent cleaning performance in dishes that is contaminated by both milk and tar residues.
- This object is achieved by a machine dishwashing detergent containing sodium or potassium salt of methylglycinediacetic acid as a complexing agent and characterized in that it does not exceed a pH of 10.4 in about 0.5% aqueous solution, wherein the machine dishwashing detergent Contains oxygen bleach in an amount of less than 1% based on the weight of active oxygen.
- Milk residues are made up of a mixture of denatured proteins (casein), fats, sugars and mineral deposits and consist of about 70% calcium phosphate (Ca 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ).
- Complexing agents therefore have a significant influence on the removal of milk residues because they dissolve calcium phosphates by complexing the calcium ions.
- tar residues are due, among other things, to Ca deposits that form when brewing tea with hard water.
- tar residues usually make different demands on a machine dishwashing detergent than Milk residues, which can already be seen that in the DE-A 3 833 047 Revealed detergent in the acidic range (pH 2-6) tar residues satisfactorily removed, but can not convince milk residues.
- the ability (based on the weight of the complexing agent) to complex calcium ions at a particular pH depends on the stability constant of the calcium complex (pK c ), the acidic nature of the complexing agent (pK 3 ) and its molecular weight.
- MGDA in a dishwashing detergent which provides a pH of less than 10.4 in about 0.5% aqueous solution, has a less complexing effect on calcium phosphates and should therefore remove milk residues worse than the conventional one NTA.
- MGDA was also used in the prior art only in dishwashing detergents which have a pH of more than 10.4 in about 0.5% strength aqueous solution.
- dishwashing compositions which contain MGDA and which provide an about 0.5% strength aqueous solution with a pH of up to 10.4 can better remove both tar residues and milk residues and overall have a better dishwashing result as a dishwashing detergent containing instead of MGDA another complexing agent such as the common NTA.

Description
US-A- 3 826 748 beispielhaft ausgeführt ist, ausgeglichen.
EP-A- 135 226 EP-A- 135 227 EP-A- 414 197 -
EP-A- 530 635 -
DE-A- 3 829 847 und derDE-A- 4 036 995 offenbart.
DE-A 38 33 047 ).

US-A- 4 933 101 oderEP-A2- 0 407 187 .
