Definitions
- the field of the present invention is that of silver protective agents, preferably for detergents, in particular for dishwashing detergents, to protect silver-containing products during a washing process.
- the silver protection of silver-containing products in general and silver cutlery in particular represents a challenge in gastronomy and households.
- Contact of silver-containing products with sulfur-containing compounds, which are present in eggs or onions, for example, can cause the silver-containing products to discolor.
- the silver of silver-containing products can come into contact with bleach during a washing process, whereby the silver is oxidized to dark gray silver oxide.
- the WO 1997/003177 A1 shows a dishwashing detergent in the form of a tablet comprising a bleach, a bleach activator and a silver and/or copper anti-corrosion agent, wherein the silver and/or copper anti-corrosion agent is not contained together in a layer together with the bleach and the bleach activator.
- a silver and/or copper corrosion inhibitor according to the WO 1997/003177 A1 including benzotriazole.
- the EP 0 906 407 B1 discloses a dishwashing detergent that contains methyl glycine diacetic acid (MGDA) at a mass fraction of 10% and also works at a low pH. Benzotriazole is also used as a silver and/or copper corrosion inhibitor.
- MGDA methyl glycine diacetic acid
- Benzotriazole is partially water-soluble, absorbs onto the surface of the silver-containing product during the washing process and protects this surface from discoloration.
- the disadvantage is that benzotriazole is an environmental poison and is difficult to break down. In this context, difficult to degrade means slow to no decomposition into smaller molecules using living organisms or their enzymes. Benzotriazole is therefore only eliminated to a small extent in sewage treatment plants and large quantities end up in rivers and lakes. Benzotriazole is classified as H-411 in the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) Hazard and Precautionary Statements, which means that benzotriazole is toxic to aquatic life with long-term effects.
- GRS Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals
- an object of the present invention is to provide a more degradable silver preservative.
- the silver protective agent should be biologically decomposed by living organisms or their enzymes and removed from the environment.
- the present invention provides a silver preservative that is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

Description
GB 2 311 535 A - Die
Gemäß Li, X. et al.: "Effect of Synthesis Process Parameters of PESA on its Scaleinhibiting Performance", Advanced Materials Research Vols.
US 5,062,962 A und dieUS 5,147,555 A offenbaren Verfahren zum Kontrollieren von Belagsbildungen in wässrigen Systemen. A bzw. in derUS 5,147,555 A beschrieben.
