Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a roller skate made of line comprising a chassis on which are mounted, on the one hand, at least three casters and, on the other hand, a shoe whose upper, possibly provided with a collar, is able to tilt backwards relative to the chassis, and a brake mounted on a articulated support on the chassis, preferably around an axis parallel to the axis of the rollers, and actuated by the tilting of the rod, respectively of its collar, rearward.
  • skates are described in the US patents 5,435,579, 5,462,296 and 5,465,984 and in the EP patent 681 856. All these pads include a brake made up a shoe mounted on the back of the skate and intended for brake by friction on the ground. This shoe is articulated at the rear of the chassis and it is operated directly by the collar articulated on the rod of the shoe, via a push bar. Braking requires significant effort from the leg. On the other hand, when passing an obstacle, in especially when going down a stair step or a sidewalk, the shoe usually comes up against walking, which not only causes braking untimely but results in a shock on the bottom of leg.
  • a pad comprising a brake also consisting of a shoe mounted at the end of a double L-shaped lever at the back of the chassis carrying the rollers, this lever being articulated on the axis of the penultimate roulette wheel and presenting an arm connected to a collar surrounding the leg of the skater, above the shoe.
  • EP 0 600 274 we also know a shoe inline casters fitted with a brake consisting of a shoe articulated around a horizontal axis between the two rear castors and connected on one side by a traction cable, to the shoe collar and, from the other side, to a return spring, in such a way that he brakes on the rear caster when the leg flexes forward and brakes forward last wheel when the leg bends towards the rear.
  • the object of the invention is to produce a brake which is totally integrated into the chassis and actuated by the rod of the shoe with less effort and easier to assayed.
  • the skate according to the invention is characterized in that the brake support is a lever of the second kind which extends above two rear castors and one of which end is articulated on the chassis at a point located in front of the two rear castors and the other end is articulated with a piece of transmission extending over of the chassis, behind the shoe and intended to be driven by the shoe at least when bending the leg backwards, and in that the brake is located above the axes of the rollers, so that the tilting back of the shoe upper, respectively of his collar, has the effect apply the brake at least on the caster back in at least one direction approximately vertical.
  • the brake preferably acts simultaneously on both rear casters. It is advantageously made up a pair of rotatably mounted discs having frustoconical facing faces for their training by the casters, braking being done by friction on the walls of the chassis.
  • the chassis generally being made up of one piece U-shaped, lever and brake can be mounted inside the chassis. Such a brake is totally integrated into the chassis.
  • the skate brake according to the invention may have a significantly shorter stroke, which allows obtain braking with reduced displacement of the shoe upper, i.e. reduced displacement of one of the pads forward relative to the other skate.
  • Figure 1 is a side view in the non-position braked, of a first embodiment.
  • Figure 2 is a partial sectional view along II-II of figure 1.
  • Figure 3 shows the same shoe in position curbed.
  • Figure 4 is a partial view of a second mode of execution.
  • Figure 5 is a partial view of a third mode execution.
  • Figure 6 is a partial view of a fourth mode execution.
  • the skate shown in Figures 1 to 3 includes a chassis 1, for example made of aluminum, having a inverted U profile forming two platforms 1a and 1b on which is fixed a shoe comprising a rod 2 on which a collar 3 is articulated around an axis 4 in the malleolar region, this collar being intended to surround the ankle.
  • Chassis 1 is provided four rollers in line 5, 6, 7, 8. Between the casters 6 and 7, approximately in the middle of the chassis 1 and between the wings thereof is articulated ,. by one of its ends, a lever 9 around a axis 10 parallel to the axes of the rollers and mounted between the wings of the chassis 1.
  • the other end of the lever 9 is articulated at a point 11, at the end of a bar 12 supported by a span 12a on a console 13 of the collar 3 of the shoe.
  • Bar 12 crosses the console 13 by a part 12b surrounded by a spring 14 working in compression between a stop integral with part 12b and console 13.
  • the lever 9 In its part located inside the chassis 1, the lever 9 is provided with a support 15 directed downwards and carrying a transverse axis 16 parallel to the axes of wheels. On this axis 16 are rotatably mounted two identical discs 17 and 18 with facing faces frustoconical and planar external faces provided a brake lining. The ends of the axis 16 are engaged in two vertical lights 19 and 20 formed in chassis 1 equidistant from the axes of two rear casters 7 and 8.
  • the bar 12 When the shoe collar is tilted towards the rear, the bar 12 actuates the lever 9, which has to apply the frustoconical faces of the discs 17 and 18 on wheels 7 and 8.
  • the discs 17 and 18 are pushed aside by these rollers and applied against the wings of chassis 1 while being driven in rotation by the rollers. Braking is done by friction against the chassis.
  • the spring 14 drives the bar 12 and with she lever 9 up. Discs only support no longer on wheels and so they are no longer rotated.
  • Lights 19 and 20 can be used to guide axis 16 according to the perpendicular bisector of the right connecting the axes of the rollers 7 and 8.
  • the axis 16 could therefore be mounted with lateral play in the support 15, for example in a light horizontal.
  • the hinge pin 10 of the lever 9 could then be brought closer to the brake, above the roulette 7 so as to increase the leverage, while maintaining equal pressure on the rollers 7 and 8.
  • Lever 9 and bar 12 could be in one piece with sufficient flexibility at the elbow corresponding to joint 11.
  • FIG. 4 A mode of execution satisfying this condition is partially shown in Figure 4, the part not shown being identical to the figure 1.
  • the lever 9 is articulated to a threaded bar 21 screwed into a socket 22 provided at its end upper of a transverse cylindrical bar 23 coming to engage, with a certain pinch, in a housing 24 of the collar 3 forming a catch notch and articulation for the socket 22.
  • the bar 23 is introduced into its housing 24 by a simple pressure and it can be removed from its housing by a simple radial pull on the bar 23.
  • the disconnection of the collar and the socket 22 is also performed for adjusting the length of the rod, formed by the bar 21 and the sleeve 23, by the rotation of the sleeve 22.
  • the lever 9 is not connected to the shoe, but to a transmission part 25 extending at the rear of the shoe, above platform 1b, towards of the collar 3 by marrying the rounding of the rod 2.
  • This part 25 has a cutout 26 in which is housed a spring 27 working in compression between the bottom cutting and platform 1b. Room 25 is retained by the lever 9 whose articulation 11 comes in stop against platform 1b. Restraint could also be done by the abutment of the discs 17 and 18 against platform 1b.
  • the collar 3 abuts on a span 25a of the transmission part 25 by its edge 3a and operate lever 9.
  • Part 25 therefore has the function of a pusher.
  • the lever 9 is not connected to collar 3, but it is articulated to a push bar 28 guided through a console 29 of the upper 2 of the shoe and provided with a head 30.
  • a spring 31, mounted between this head 30 and the console 29 holds the bar 28 and the lever 9 in high position.
  • the active length of the bar 28 can be modified at its articulation 11 with the lever 9.
  • This joint consists of a nut 32 articulated between the arms of lever 9 and traversed by the threaded end 28a of the bar 28 on which is mounted a knurled circular nut 33 axially retained in nut 32 according to a known construction.
  • the collar 3 comes to press on the head 30 and apply the brake.
  • the invention is also applicable to a shoe the stem of which is not provided with a collar, provided the rod has sufficient flexibility allowing it to tilt backwards.
