Definitions
- the invention relates to a machine for packaging pre-packaged products in outer cartons, with a frame, a magazine for cardboard blanks or flat-folded glued cardboard boxes, a removal device for removing a cardboard blank from the magazine and transferring it with at least partial erection of the cardboard box to a filling station, in which a product group in the fully erected carton is inserted, with a folding device for folding the end flaps of the carton and adhesive for fastening them, and with a transport device for transferring the filled carton through the closing station.
- Packaging machines of this type differ from so-called cartoning machines in that the products are already pre-packaged, and therefore product groups are supplied instead of individual products.
- Known packaging machines of the type mentioned initially use a closed machine housing which is generally symmetrical and whose top surface forms the feed table. The boxes are passed over the center of the table. The table surface necessarily has openings through which the arms of the removal device and the transport device extend and retract. When the product groups are pushed in, sensitive products can be damaged, and it is also possible that the products are already damaged during prepackaging. Damaged packaging of this type, when inserted in the filling station of the generic machine, means that the products fall through the openings in the cover-side housing level into the interior of the housing and can lead to damage in the drives there.
- the object of the invention is therefore to design the known packaging machine in such a way that damaged products do not fall into the interior of the housing, remain hidden there and can even damage the function of the packaging machine and that damaged products can be easily removed from the machine.
- the frame is basically L-shaped in cross section and has an upright support wall on the rear of the machine and a forward-pointing floor boom or - several - boom arms that the magazine at least the largest Part is arranged in front of the support wall, that the removal device or this and the transport device each have single-sided support arms which extend into the support wall and are connected to drive devices arranged in or on and in this, that in the region of the closing station at least one on the support wall attached front frame is provided, which carries the folding members and the adhesive, and that the machine is at least largely free of ground at least in the area of the filling station below the path of movement of the filled carton and above the boom.
- an upright, relatively slim housing wall is provided according to the invention, in front of which the path of movement of the carton blanks and the filled cartons is located.
- Most of the drive devices are located within the upright, slim housing, which is referred to below as the supporting wall. If, for design reasons, not all drive devices can be accommodated within the supporting wall, they are, however, immediately adjacent to the front of the Support wall, but in any case outside the movement path of the boxes. Thanks to the invention there are no sensitive components, such as drive means, belts, chains and the like, below the movement path of the cartons. So if the packaging of the products is damaged, these products fall on the floor in front of the machine or are collected in a collecting tray of the floor bracket, from where they can be easily removed. This applies to pharmaceuticals as well as to leaking liquids.
- the transport device can be formed by the removal device itself, which is arranged on a horizontal longitudinal sliding device with a drive device, wherein according to the invention the drive device, which has, for example, an endless chain or belt drive, is protected in the supporting wall.
- the removal device which is preferably equipped with suction nozzles, takes a folded and glued cardboard or a cardboard blank from the magazine, moves it on a predetermined path, the flat-folded cardboard being partially erected, and moves it by activating a longitudinal slide into the filling station, where the Carton is fully erected and the product group is received, for example, by means of a cross slide.
- the support frame of the removal device then travels through the sealing station, where the sealing flaps of the cardboard are folded over and coated with glue and pressed on or sealed with adhesive tapes.
- the finished box is then pushed from the next box onto a roller conveyor.
- the removal device then moves back to the starting position and gets the next blank from the magazine.
- the performance of the machine is increased if the support frame of the removal device merely transfers the cardboard blank to the filling station, where it is taken over by a support frame of a transport device.
- the removal device can then be returned to the magazine on a bypass path below the movement path of the blank, while the carton carried by the transport device is filled and closed.
- the invention enables cardboard blanks to be removed from various magazines.
- an inclined magazine is used which limits the movement path of the carton on one side of the machine.
- the cardboard blanks are inclined at a small angle of 20 to 30 ° to the vertical.
- the removal device preferably has two swivel arms provided with suction cups, which form a swiveling support frame.
- a standing magazine is used, from which the top carton blank is removed, moved horizontally and lowered into the frame of the transport device in the filling station.
- a vertical overhead magazine is used, in which the bottom blank is removed, moved horizontally and inserted into the supporting frame of the transport device while being erected.
- the transport device can also be omitted here, so that the removal device takes over its function, but this is at the expense of the number of cycles.
- the magazine can also be arranged directly above the filling station.
- the support frame of the removal device is then mounted on a pneumatic cylinder, which in turn has a slide for a horizontal longitudinal sliding guide.
- the bottom blank is removed from the removal device, which then moves downwards, as a result of which the blank or the flat-folded carton is erected in two stages and in the lower position of the removal device reaches its filling position, from which the filled carton passes through the closing station by horizontally displacing the removal device.
- the packaging machine generally designated 10, has a rear support wall 12 and a floor bracket 14 projecting forwardly therefrom, an inclined floor wall 16 of which extends up to the support wall 12. At a distance from the supporting wall 12 there is a horizontal path of movement 18 (FIG. 3) for filled boxes. The bottom boundary of this movement path 18 is at the same level as the top surface of the support wall 12.
- a magazine 20 is attached to the left side in front of the support wall 12, in which the folded and glued cardboard blanks 22 are held at a slight inclination to the vertical.
- a removal device 24 has a swivel frame which is provided with suction cups.
- the two-armed swivel frame is attached to a support arm 26 in the form of an axis which is rotatably mounted in a pivot bearing 28 directly in front of the support wall 12.
- a lever 30 of the support arm 26 is led out, on which a pressure medium cylinder 32 engages, by means of which the swivel frame of the removal device 24 can be pivoted from the vertical position shown in FIG. 1 by a little more than 90 ° into a downward-pointing position .
- the pivot bearing 28 is fastened to a horizontal slide 34 which, like the cylinder 32, is arranged within the support wall 12.
- the horizontal slide 34 is guided in a longitudinally displaceable manner on a horizontal guide 36 within the supporting wall 12 and is alternately moved back and forth by a motor 40 by means of an endless belt drive 38.
- the removal device 24 By actuating the cylinder 32, the removal device 24 is pivoted downward to the right with a cardboard blank 22 (FIG. 1) and reaches a filling station 42 by horizontal displacement, in which the partially erected one Cardboard blank 22 is fully erected by means of a pivot lever 44 through a vertical cylinder.
- a support frame 46 of a transport device 48 which has a vertical slide 50 which is guided in a vertical guide 52 so as to be movable up and down.
- This vertical guide 52 is arranged directly in front of the support wall 12 and engages with a horizontal slide 54 in the interior of the support wall 12, which in turn is mounted on a horizontal guide 56 so as to be longitudinally displaceable.
- An endless profile belt 58 drives the carriage 54 from the motor 60.
- the support frame 46 can be moved on a rectangular path.
- the support frame 46 is moved upwards from a lower position below the filling station 42 to the erected carton 22 'resting on the removal device 24.
- the removal device 24 is thus freed from the support function of the carton 22 'and can be moved back horizontally after slightly downward diving below the bottom level of the carton movement path 18 and then pivoted up into the position shown in FIG. During this movement of the removal device 24, a product group is inserted into the erected carton 22 '.
- a bracket 62 which extends over the carton movement path 18, is fastened, on which folding members 64 are pivotably mounted and connected by means of swivel drives.
- This boom 62 also carries rolls of tape 66 to close the flaps of the carton 22 '.
- the support frame 46 By activating the drive motor 60, the support frame 46 is moved from the filling station 42 into the closing station 68, where the folding members 64 are actuated and adhesive tapes are pulled off the rollers 66. The support frame 46 then lowers below the locking station 68 and the locked Carton 22 'rests on two narrow rails which are flush with the support wall 12. The previous box is pushed onto a roller conveyor. The support frame 46 then runs by activating the horizontal drive 58, 60 on a lowered path of movement back to an initial position located below the filling station 42.
- a front frame 70 is fastened to the supporting wall 12 in the area of the closing station, which is located partially below the path of movement 18 of the cartons 22 'and supports the folding members 64.
- the front frame 70 contains only two narrow struts below the movement path 18 of the cartons 22 ', which in principle do not change the concept of the floor-free arrangement, but this front frame 70 can also be replaced by the extension 62 shown in FIG. 3.
- a standing floor magazine 20 is arranged to the left of the filling station 42, above which a horizontal guideway of the removal device 24 ends.
- the removal device 24 is fastened here to a vertical cylinder arrangement 72 which in turn is fastened to a support arm 74 which extends into the support wall 12 and ends in a horizontal slide 76 which can be displaced on a horizontal guide 78 and by means of a motor 80 - as described above - is driven.
- the support frame of the removal device 24 is shifted into the position shown in broken lines in FIG. 5 above the filling station and lowered into the support frame 46 of the transport device 48 by means of the pressure medium cylinders 72.
- the removal frame is moved up and down in the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6.
- the magazine 20 is also arranged next to the filling station 42, but above the carton movement path 18.
- the removal device 24 is supported here by bottom-side lifting cylinders 72 which, as in the embodiment described above, have a one-sided support arm on a horizontal guide 78 inside the support wall 12 is arranged.
- the removal device 24 thus removes the lowermost blank 22 ′ from the magazine 20, is then moved downward from the dash-dotted position into the position shown with solid lines and is then pushed horizontally into the filling station 42.
- a pressure-actuated finger 82 of the removal device 24 sets up the carton 22 '.
- the chassis 46 of the transport device 48 then takes over the carton, so that the removal device 24 can move back into the starting position.
- the magazine 20 is located directly above the filling station 42.
- the removal device 24 is supported, as in the previously described embodiment, on lifting cylinders 72, which in turn is mounted on the horizontal sliding guide 38 (FIGS. 1 to 4) via a support arm on one side.
- the removal device 24 is moved from the filling station 42 into the closure station 68 and beyond this into a delivery station, after which the removal device 24 is lowered and moved back on a lower bypass path below the magazine 20.
- Figure 9 differs from Figure 8 only in that in the area of the sealing station 68, instead of adhesive tapes 66, application rollers 66 'are provided for cold or hot glue.
