Definitions

  • the invention relates to a projectile feeding device for a self-propelled howitzer.
  • Older European patent application no. 94 109 360.1 (publication no. EP 0 640 805 A1), which has not been prepublished compared to the priority date of the present application, describes a projectile feeder for a self-propelled howitzer with a rotating tower arranged on a vehicle in the area behind the vehicle center , on which a heavy weapon is arranged pivotably in elevation, with a bullet magazine behind the weapon in the rear of the turret for receiving projectiles stored essentially horizontally with the projectile tip pointing forward and in the rear of the vehicle a loading / unloading opening which is accessible from the rear and at which the On the inside of the roof plate of the tower, between the rear end of the weapon and the projectile magazine, a transverse guide is attached, on which a slide is slidably guided, and on the slide a support arm, which extends down into the interior of the tower and on which a loading device is attached Chale receptacle is movably guided along the support arm, which carries a charging cradle
  • the invention aims to improve and further develop the invention according to the above-mentioned older European patent application.
  • the invention is based on the object of designing a projectile feed device according to EP 0 640 805 A1 in such a way that the largest possible part of the ammunition store stored in the tower can be detected directly by the projectile feed device. Furthermore, the possibility should be created keep the space immediately behind the weapon clear of the parts of the projectile delivery device so that the return of the weapon is influenced as little as possible, or that the projectile delivery device can be easily brought into positions in which there is no influence on the return of the weapon.
  • the remaining functional options of the projectile delivery device according to the older European patent application should be retained as a simple loading aid which can be used not only for supplying the projectiles to the weapon, but also for loading the vehicle.
  • the basic idea of the invention is to divide the support arm of the projectile feeder device into an upper part which can be moved transversely to the longitudinal axis of the tower and a lower part which projects into the vehicle interior and which cannot be moved but possibly can be moved into a position into which it returns the weapon does not bother.
  • the upper part now referred to as the "support arm” should only have such a length that it is not obstructed by the tower bearing during displacement in the transverse direction and thus as far as possible can reach wide areas across the width of the tower.
  • the lower part referred to as the "support arm extension”
  • the lower part is arranged in such a way that, in a predetermined position, the lower end of the support arm connects directly to the upper end of the support arm extension and thus the charging cradle receptacle with the charging cradle can be moved from the support arm into the support arm extension in this position, and thus the charging cradle can be brought into the required position behind the weapon.
  • This training made it possible to arrange the projectile feeder at a point further back in the turret, so that there is more space for the operation and return of the weapon and at the same time to ensure that the largest possible part of the projectile supply can be reached directly.
  • the projectile feeding device for a self-propelled howitzer described in FIGS. 1 to 5 can, in principle, be designed to be completely manually operable, but it can also be motor-driven devices in a manner not specifically shown, in particular for lifting and lowering the charging cradle holder.
  • a storey magazine 23 Arranged in the rear of the tower T is a storey magazine 23, which is not explained in any more detail, in which storeys are stored in several rows one above the other horizontally and with the tip pointing forward.
  • the storeys in the storey magazine 23 are designated G1 in this position.
  • a support arm 1 is attached to the carriage 2 and extends essentially vertically downwards through the interior of the tower T.
  • the support arm 1 is therefore displaceable in the transverse direction. Its length is such that it can also be moved to the side during the transverse displacement over the annular tower bearing L. can. This can be seen, for example, from FIG. 3 on the right side of the guide rails in FIG. 3.
  • the support arm 1 can be handled by means of a handle, not shown. Additional devices, also not shown, can be present here, as explained for example in EP 0 640 805 A1.
  • a linear guide 18 is arranged on the support arm 1, on which a charging cradle receptacle 11 is displaceably guided via a pair of rollers 29.
  • the charging cradle receptacle 11 carries a charging cradle 22 which is pivotably mounted in the charging cradle receptacle 11 by means of a trunnion-fixed pivot in the charging cradle receptacle 11 so that it can be pivoted upward, for example, into the position shown in FIG. 2.
  • the support arm 1 has a holder 6 with a support roller 6.1, via which it is supported in a guide rail 6.2 connected to the tower floor. This secure guidance ensures that the lower end of the support arm 1 can be positioned very precisely.
  • a support arm extension 3 projecting downwards into the vehicle interior is arranged in such a way that, in a predetermined position of the slide 2 and thus of the support arm 1, the lower end of the support arm 1 connects directly to the upper end of the support arm extension 3.
  • the charging cradle receptacle 11 can be moved from the support arm 1 into the support arm extension 3 and can be moved further down there until the charging cradle is in a position 22 'aligned with the barrel core axis R of the weapon 25.
  • the charging cradle holder 11 can be moved without difficulty over the transition region 4 between the lower end of the support arm 1 and the upper end of the support arm extension 3, precise positioning of the support arm 1 is necessary on the one hand and on the other hand it should be prevented that the support arm 1 is displaced in the transverse direction can be when the charging cradle receptacle 11 is in the area of the support arm extension 3 or in the transition area 4. This can be achieved by locking devices, not shown.
  • the support arm extension 3 can be pivoted away from the position shown in FIG. 1 into a lateral position, in which it does not hinder in particular getting on and off the vehicle.
  • the support arm extension 3 is connected at its upper end via a pivot 7 to the tower, the axis of which includes a small acute angle with the horizontal longitudinal axis of the tower.
  • the support arm extension 3 can thus be pivoted about the axis of the pivot pin 7 from the downwardly projecting position, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, into a position 3 ', such as it is shown for example in Fig. 5, in which the support arm extension 3 is pivoted away to the side.
  • the support arm extension 3 can be fixed in the different positions by means of a manually operated locking device 8.
  • a roller conveyor 24 suspended from a support arm 17 is arranged in the rear H of the vehicle, via which projectiles G4 can be fed from outside through the loading / unloading opening B of the charging cradle 22, in the lower position shown in FIG. 1 . Details of this loading and unloading option are described in the older European patent application.
  • projectiles from the projectile magazine 23 can be brought from the position G1 to the position G2 on the loader shell 22 in a position of the raised loading shell 22, as corresponds, for example, to FIG.
  • the support arm 1 is then moved in the transverse direction until its lower end directly adjoins the upper end of the support arm extension 3 and the charging cradle receptacle 11 is moved down along the support arm 1 and into the support arm extension 3 until the charging cradle is in a position 22 ' , in which the projectile assumes a position G3 in which it is arranged in alignment with the tube core axis R. In this position the floor can be placed.
  • the charging cradle receptacle 11 with the charging cradle 22 can then be moved up again and, as shown in FIG. 2, brought into a folded-up position in which it no longer projects into the space behind the weapon.
  • the position of the weapon 25 at maximum return and the area covered by this return is shown in broken lines in FIGS. 1 and 2 and designated 25 '.
  • the support arm extension 3 similar to an embodiment of the older European patent application, the support arm, is designed to be curved forward, so that the charging cradle receptacle 11 is in a circular path is guided on the support arm extension 3, the center of which lies on the shield pin axis of the weapon 25, not shown.
  • a cable drive (not shown) can be used both in the case of the manual and the motor drive of the charging cradle receptacle 11 along the support arm 1 and the support arm extension 3.
  • the arrangement of a locking device is particularly important here, which prevents the support arm 1 from being moved in the transverse direction when the charging cradle receptacle 11 is located on the support arm extension 3.
  • a locking device which prevents the charging cradle receptacle 11 from moving out of the lower end of the support arm 1 can be if this is not in its predetermined position above the arm extension 3.
  • a spring motor (not shown) arranged at the upper end of the support arm 1 can be used, for example.
  • a manually operable cable pull drive can have a shaft led out of the tower, to which an external electric motor can be connected in the event of loading.
  • a braking device (not shown) can be provided for braking the downward movement of the charging cradle receptacle 11 when the charging cradle 22 is lowered under the weight of the projectile.
