Definitions
- the invention relates to a snowboard boot with a soft boot-shaped inner part and a boot-shaped outer part which has a soft shaft.
- ski boots In alpine snowboarding, hard boots are used, which, like ski boots, consist of a soft inner shoe and a hard plastic outer shell, the outer shell on the calf being provided with a high back or spoiler.
- a plate-shaped binding is used as the binding, which is similar to a ski touring formation.
- the snowboard rider is standing across the snowboard. That is, to make a turn, it either moves forward (“frontside turn”) or backwards (“backside turn”). While with the frontside turn the force that can be applied to the snowboard with the foot is sufficient, there are problems due to the anatomy with the backside turn. This is the reason for the spoiler that acts as a lever.
- Snowboard boots for freestyle driving are therefore designed in accordance with the preamble of claim 1. That is, they have a soft, padded boot-shaped inner part, and the boot-shaped outer part is provided with a soft fabric shaft.
- the freestyle or soft boot essentially only has a warming and cushioning function, while the foot is held on the snowboard and the forces are transferred from the foot to the snowboard with the binding. So that backside turns can be carried out with such a freestyle boot, the binding for these boots is provided with a spoiler. If the driver bends the legs sideways, they are turned sideways out of the spoiler attached to the binding. The spoiler loses its effectiveness, so that backside turns with laterally angled legs are very difficult to carry out with the well-known freestyle boot and binding set.
- the object of the invention is therefore to attach the foot to the snowboard in such a way that freestyle backside turns can be carried out without problems even with legs bent at the side.
- a customary freestyle or soft boot is used, an insert being attached between the inner part and the outer part of the boot, to which a back part is articulated, which engages around the calf and corresponds in effect to a spoiler.
- the back part is pivotable about an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the boot, which generally extends obliquely downwards from the back to the front.
- the axis is located at the level of the joint that connects the foot to the lower leg. So that it is carried through the calf when the legs are bent sideways, the back section grips the calf on both sides.
- the back part unfolds its full effect as a spoiler regardless of the angular position of the Legs opposite the snowboard. Backside turns are therefore possible without any problems, even with strongly angled legs.
- a traction means e.g. B. is provided a tape that attacks on the one hand on the back part and on the other hand on the ball area generally on both sides of the insert.
- the point of application of the traction means on the back part is preferably adjustable in height.
- the binding 2 consists of a base plate 3 with side walls 4 on both sides.
- the side walls are connected to one another at their rear end with a heel strap 5.
- the side walls 4 are connected by a belt strap 6 which can be closed with a buckle (not shown) and which is arranged above the front cap of the boot 1. Furthermore, the side walls in the rear area are connected by an instep band 7, which is provided with a cushion 8. The instep band 7 is placed around the instep of the boot 1 and can also be closed with a buckle, not shown. With the Base plate 3, the binding 2 is attached to the snowboard, not shown.
- the boot 1 consists of a boot-shaped inner part 9 and a boot-shaped outer part 10.
- the inner part 9 can be designed like the inner part of a conventional soft boot, ie v. a. soft and padded. It can be laced and provided with a tongue, not shown in the drawing.
- the outer part 10 consists of a shaft 11, which is shown partly broken away in FIG. 1, and a substructure 12.
- the outer part 10 can also be formed by the outer part of a conventional soft boot. That is, the base 12 is made of rubber or the like. Rubber-like material, while the shaft 11 is made of fabric or another flexible material, such as leather or felt. The shaft 11 is thus soft and flexible. It can also be laced and provided with a tongue, not shown in the drawing. The upper edge of the base 12 lies below the joint with which the foot is articulated on the lower leg.
- a rigid insert 13 is arranged between the inner part 9 and the outer part 10. That is, the insert 13 has a rigidity which is substantially above that of the inner part 9 and the shaft 11 of the outer part 10 and approximately corresponds to the rigidity of the base plate 3 of the binding 2 or even lies above it.
- the wall thickness of the insert 13 should be as small as possible and is preferably not more than 5 mm.
- the insert 13 can for example made of fiber reinforced plastics, for. B. glass fiber reinforced epoxy or polyamide.
- the insert 13 extends under the foot from the ball area 14 to the heel 15, then around the heel 15 to below the calf, that is to say at the level of the joint between the foot and lower leg.
- the insert 13 is cup-shaped, ie it also encloses the foot and the heel laterally. It is adapted to the foot.
- a rigid back part 16 is pivotably pivoted about an axis 17.
- the axis 17 lies approximately in the longitudinal center plane of the boot and runs slightly obliquely downwards in the direction toward the front. It is located at the level of the joint between the foot and lower leg.
- the hinge between the insert 13 and the back part 16 can be formed by a hinge pin 18, a rivet, a screw connection or the like.
- the back part 16 is cup-shaped so that it engages around the calf laterally.
- the back part 16 is also rigid. That is, its rigidity is much greater than the rigidity of the inner part 9 or the shaft 11 of the outer part 10, but generally less than the rigidity of the base plate 3 of the binding 2.
- the wall thickness of the back part 16 is also as small as possible and should not exceed 5 mm .
- the stiffness of the back part 16 can be less than the stiffness of the insert 13.
- the back part 16 preferably consists of non-fiber-reinforced plastics, for example polyurethane or polyamide.
- the back part 16 extends upwards approximately to the upper edge of the shaft 11 of the outer part 10.
- the back part 16 is tensioned with the ball area 14 of the insert 13 with a traction means.
- a webbing 19 is arranged around the back part 16, which is passed through a slot 20 on the side wall in the ball area 14 of the insert 13, runs under the insert 13 to the other side and runs through a corresponding slot in the other Extends through the side wall and then to the back part 16.
- a buckle 20 In order to adjust the length of the strap 19, it is provided with a buckle 20, the strap end of the strap 19 being inserted through the buckle 20 and fixed with a fastener, not shown in the drawing.
- This fastener can be, for example, a Velcro fastener.
- Has a Velcro fastener namely the advantage that it remains securely fixed by the contact pressure between the inner part 9 and outer part 10. Possibly.
- Such a buckle 20 can be provided on each side of the insert 13, through which the band 19 is inserted at one end.
- the webbing 19 is on the back of the back part 19 z. B. with a rivet 21 on a tongue 22 which extends upwards.
- the tongue 22 can be moved up and down along the back part 16 and can be fixed in the desired position.
- a locking device for the tongue 22 can be provided in the upper region of the back part 16.
- the locking device can consist, for example, of a ratchet buckle 23 which has a ratchet lever 24 which is provided with a pushbutton and which cooperates with sawtooth-shaped ribs 25 on the tongue 22.
- the boot 1 made of the inner part 3 and the outer part 10 has essentially only a warming and cushioning function. In contrast, the forces are transmitted from the foot to the snowboard with the boot 1 according to the invention with the insert 13 and the back part 16 and with the binding 2.
- the snowboard rider can bend the legs to any side, if necessary, until he touches the snowboard with his knees. Many movements are freestyle out of the knees. Thus, the snowboard driver can easily carry out all these movements with the boot according to the invention.
- the rigid back part 16 Due to its articulation on the insert 13 about the axis 17 and its design as a part encompassing the calf, the rigid back part 16 is carried along with all lateral movements of the calf. So that the back part is effective in every swivel position as a spoiler, so that backside turns can also be easily performed with legs bent at the sides.
- the inclination of the back part 16 with respect to the sole of the boot that is to say the base plate 3 of the binding 2 can be adjusted over the length of the webbing 19. If two buckles 20 are provided on both sides of the insert 13, the back part 16 can also be inclined if this is desired.
- the point of application of the webbing 19 on the back part 16 can be adjusted in height. That is, if the webbing 19 encompasses the back part 16 relatively far below, the back part 16 is less stiff than when the webbing 19 attacks in the upper region of the back part 16. At a lower point of attack, there is more mobility in the boot, but the effort is required to execute it from backside turns to, while with a higher point of attack the mobility decreases, but a better power transmission takes place with backside turns. In this way, the snowboard rider can optimally adjust the mobility and power transmission according to his needs and desires.
