Abstract

Device in the entry area of a double-deck railway coach with lower deck and upper deck, which device has on each side of the coach entry doors which permit access to an entry space (2), with a compartment door (6) for the lower-deck passenger space and access stairs (4) to the upper deck. An entry space (2) behind the entry doors (5) has the entire inner spatial height of a double-deck railway coach (1) and is crossed in the longitudinal direction of the coach by a web (3) which runs at the height of the upper deck. Stairs (4) which take up half the width of the coach lead to the upper deck (7). Corner-shaped recesses in the longitudinal direction of the coach increase the entry space (2). The side wall balustrades of the web (3) can be constructed as information displays and/or advertising panels, if required as back-lit transparent advertising. The entry height to the entry space (2) is greater than the spatial height of the lower deck. Upper-deck coach windows in the area of the entry space (2) allow additional daylight to enter. In a further variant, two sets of access stairs (4) located diagonally opposite one another are present and the web (3) which crosses the entry space (2) extends diagonally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the coach. In addition, the entry door (5) can have two door wings which are of different widths and can be actuated separately. <IMAGE>

Description

Installation in the boarding area of a double-decker railway wagon with lower deck and upper deck, which has entry doors on both sides that allow access to an entrance area, with compartment door to the lower deck passenger compartment and staircase to the upper deck.

Double-deck coaches generally have access to the lower deck. This results in a practically step-free entrance from the platform because double-deck cars are built lower in the lower deck area. Stairs of various types and arrangements lead from the boarding area on the lower deck to the upper deck and compartment doors to the passenger compartments on the lower deck.

An American patent US-2,811,932 describes a double-decker car for a passenger train. The entry area is accessible from entry doors on both sides and leads initially into a first small entrance hall and from there through a swing door into a second larger entrance room and through another swing door into a passenger compartment on the lower deck. From the second anteroom, additional side rooms can be reached through swinging doors and the stairs to the upper deck are accessible via a side staircase.

The division into two vestibules and the relatively large number of doors can hinder the circulation of passengers. The narrow stairs to the upper deck do not allow two people to walk past each other. Given a restrictive room profile, the room height in the entry area, especially for tall people, is very low and constricting.

A related article with the heading "Double-deckers launch third generation of TGV" published in Railway Gazette International No. 9 in September 1991 describes on pages 593 to 598 the concept and design of the interior of a double-deck intermediate car. The drawings on pages 595 and 596 not only show the type of seating, but also the planned execution of the boarding area. Leading from the upper deck a central aisle to a platform at the end of the car and from there via stairs to an entrance room on the lower deck. A little more than half the length of the central aisle, known as the "gangway", has luggage compartments on both sides. In the last section up to the platform, toilet rooms are arranged on one side, so that in this section towards the stairs, due to the necessary passage height, this inevitably has a kind of gallery character. In the entry platform, a single step is provided for each entry door to match the threshold height.

The solution shown is characterized by limited space, which can prove to be a bottleneck for a free flow of people. The individual levels in the entry platform can also pose a not inconsiderable risk of stumbling.

The present invention has for its object to facilitate access to the decks in a space-utilizing and appealing manner so that passengers boarding and alighting can also freely circulate in this area, even with luggage, without mutual hindrance.

This object is achieved by the invention characterized in the claims.

The advantages of the invention are that there is a large entry height that is not limited by the lower deck height, and that the full carriage height is largely present above the entry platform, which allows free light to enter through the upper deck windows and provides good and natural illumination of the entry area.

It is also advantageous that this area can be crossed at the top of the deck, at the same time as passengers boarding and disembarking, that the opening of the entrance door is variable and that visible passenger information can be presented in the entrance area for almost all travelers.

In Figure 1, a double-decker car is designated 1. The cut-open area shows an entrance room 2, from which on the left a staircase 4, at least the width of two people, leads to an upper deck area 7. The staircase 4 is delimited on the right by a vertical longitudinal wall 16 and on the left by the outer wall of the carriage. A handrail 19 is attached to the vertical longitudinal wall 16 parallel to the course of the stairs. To the right of the vertical longitudinal wall 16 there is a vertical transverse wall 17 delimiting the entrance space 2 on this side. 5 denotes the two side entrance doors. The entrance space 2 is delimited on the right by a transverse wall 18 which is angularly bulged out towards a passenger compartment 10 and which has a sliding door 6 in the middle. The entire length of the entrance space 2 is spanned in the middle of the car at the level of the upper deck floor with a bridge-like web 3, which connects the two parts of an upper deck area 7 interrupted by the entrance space 2 for passengers to walk on. The web 3 runs in a slightly curved longitudinal line. A clear view from the lower deck to the upper deck and vice versa is possible on both sides of the web 3.

Bogies 13 are arranged under the two end areas 14 of the wagon. The double-decker car 1 has the only entry door 5 already mentioned on each side. The height of the entrance door 5 and the entrance is greater than the general lower deck room height.

An den beiden Wagenenden sind, auf Oberdeckhöhe, die Uebergänge 20 vorhanden.3 shows a top view of the entire equipment of the upper deck. A compartment door 9 leads from the upper deck area 7 to a passenger area 8. The compartment door 9 is preferably used to separate smokers and non-smokers. The somewhat curved course of the web 3 can be seen in this illustration. At the upper deck level, the transitions 20 are present at the two ends of the car.

Behind the vertical transverse wall 17 there is a toilet cell 15 which is accessible through a pivoting door. The passenger compartment 10 is further subdivided towards the right end, and there an internal compartment door 12 leads to a small separate compartment 11.

In this variant, the entry door 5 'consists of two unevenly wide door leaves. The left wing, designated 5.1, is wider than the right wing, designated 5.2. The narrow door wing 5.2 has a passage width that allows an individual passenger to pass freely. The wide door wing 5.1 has a passage width that allows a passenger to pass freely, for example with two pieces of luggage. The entire opening width with both door leaves 5.1 and 5.2 enables the simultaneous passage of several passengers entering and exiting. Compared to the representation in FIGS. 1 to 4, a second staircase 4 'is also present, which also leads to the upper deck.

The arrangement of the two stairs 4 'can be seen in Figures 6 and 7. The two stairs 4 'are arranged diagonally opposite each other and each lead in an arc from the entrance room 2' to the upper deck and vice versa. The bridge-like web 3 'crossing the entrance space 2' at the upper deck level forms a diagonal opposite the stair arrangement. The web 3 'has a balustrade line curved inwards on both sides in an arc shape, so that the web 3' is initially about half the width of the car and narrows towards the center to about the width of two people. The passenger spaces 7 'and 9' in the upper deck, which are optically and traffic-connected by this web 3 ', give the impression of a single uninterrupted spatial unit.

According to FIG. 7, in this variant the entrance space 2 'continues to the right as an access corridor 2.1 through a sliding door 6' to a passenger compartment 10 '. A luggage rack 21 is provided on one side of this access corridor 2.1 and a toilet room 15 'is provided on the other side.

With the inventive arrangement of the boarding area, the traveling comfort and the well-being of the passengers is increased. The great height up to the upper deck ceiling creates an expanded feeling of space because the entrance room 2, 2 'has a hall-like character. Added to this is the additional incidence of light through the upper deck window, which replaces artificial lighting in daylight. The stairs 4, 4 'take up half the carriage width, so that people can easily circulate in opposite directions on the stairs 4, 4'. The stepless low-floor entrance through the entrance door 5, 5 'can have an entrance height of more than two meters. There is still sufficient space and space available to accommodate the door drives for the entrance doors 5, 5 'up to the lower edge of the upper deck windows in the entrance area. The web 3, 3 'crossing the entrance space 2, 2' is designed in cross section as a U-profile. This cross-sectional shape achieves a high load-bearing capacity and flexural strength with a small material thickness in order to cross the entrance space 2, 2 'in a self-supporting manner. In the special decorative embodiment shown (Fig.1), the side walls of the web 3 are designed as glass balustrades, the Glass elements are contained in vertical curly side supports, which in turn are closed at the top with a horizontal handrail which merges into the handrail 19. In a further variant, the web 3 can be hung on the car ceiling by means of tension struts (not shown). The side walls of the web 3 can additionally be designed as information and advertising areas. For example, current train connection information from various destinations with departure times and platform no. are displayed. The various options of LED, LCD, mechanical matrix or flap technology or television monitor technology are available as display types. For this purpose, the side walls of the web 3 are preferably inclined slightly outwards, which facilitates the optical detection of an attached display. The displays are clearly visible from the stairs 4 from the entrance room 2 and, with the entrance door 5 open, also from the platform. The lighting fixtures of an artificial entrance room lighting, not shown, are attached to the side of the car and to the web 3. The lighting device on the web side walls can also be designed as a backlit transparent advertising. There is therefore no need for a lighting fixture to be inserted on the underside of the web, which would increase the thickness of the web base and thus reduce the passage height under web 3. The angular bulges of the entrance space 2 in the longitudinal direction of the carriage, which can be seen in the floor plan, result in an enlargement of the accessible floor area with a minimal requirement for the length of the side walls of the carriage. Due to the angularity of the bulges, there are still straight wall elements for the installation of normal swing or sliding doors. The enlarged floor area of the entrance space 2 in this way does not result in a loss of seat in the passenger compartment 10. Due to the large circulation areas in the entrance room 2 and the wide stairs 4, a single entry point per double-deck car is sufficient. If necessary, the toilet cubicle can also be made accessible to wheelchair users through a wider door, through a double wing door or, in the case of rounded bulges, through a round sliding door. It is intended that the control car of a double-deck pendulum composition also has this entrance room 2, in which the upper deck then extends to the front with a view of the route and the driver's cab is located on the lower deck. The front part of the upper deck compartment in the control car is set up as a panorama bar, for example.

In the second further developed variant according to FIGS. 5 to 7, the entry area is provided with a second staircase 4 'and the web 3' is arranged in the room diagonal. This arrangement of the web 3 'freely crossing the entrance space 2' gives a particularly good overview of the entire boarding area from almost every point, which has a particularly advantageous effect on the optimal behavior of the passengers getting on and off. Regarding room lighting and displays for information and advertising on web 3 ', the same options are technically available as in the first variant. In addition, the display surfaces of the web 3 'are equally visible from both sides and from both decks due to its symmetrical design. This leads to a quick and smooth flow of people in the boarding area, especially because of the planned short stopping times at the stations for regional trains.

The unevenly wide door panels 5.1 and 5.2 of the entrance door 5 'can be operated by the passengers as required. For example, a separate opening button can be provided for each door leaf 5.1 / 5.2, or the door drives of the two door leaves 5.1 and 5.2 can be controlled automatically depending on the density of people. For example, only one door wing 5.1 or 5.2 can open at less frequented train stations in winter, in order not to allow unnecessary cold air to penetrate from outside, which affects the well-being of the passengers. The person flux density can also be detected by means of known sensor technology such as light barriers, infrared, ultrasound, radar motion detectors, video or contact mats and logically evaluated for the door control.
