Abstract

The invention relates to a car (10) for a rail vehicle (8) comprising a lower level (24) and an upper level (26) separated by an intermediate floor (28) , the upper level (26) comprising a passenger reception room and a first landing (50), the lower level (24) comprising a catering area and a passage area, separate from each other. The intermediate floor (28) defines a hopper (30) leading to the upper level (26) and to the lower level (24). The car (10) comprises a first staircase (32) connecting the passage area to the first landing (50) through said hopper (30). The upper level (26) includes a second level (52), separate from the first level (50). Description

Double-deck car for railway vehicle and associated railway vehicle

The present invention relates to a car with two levels for a railway vehicle, comprising a lower level and an upper level separated by an intermediate floor, the upper level comprising a passenger reception room and a first landing, the lower level comprising a restoration and a passage area, distinct from each other, the car comprising a ceiling, a first side wall and a second side wall, the first and second side walls being arranged opposite each other, the intermediate floor extending at least in part between the first and the second side walls and defining a funnel leading to the upper level and to the lower level, the car comprising a first staircase extending along the first side wall and connecting the passage zone of the lower level to the first level of the upper level through said hopper.

In the field of railway vehicles, it is known to produce cars with two levels in order to increase the useful surface of the railway vehicle for a given length. It is particularly known to arrange the lower level of a car in order to install a catering area there, comprising for example a consumption area and a preparation area.

Access to this dining area from the upper level is via a staircase that communicates between the upper level and the lower level.

In order to have a large space for the catering area and thus accommodate many passengers, the staircase is usually installed at one end of the car and it has reduced dimensions.

However, such an arrangement is not entirely satisfactory. Indeed, in the event of heavy traffic, different flows of passengers are likely to intersect, causing an obstruction of the stairs, which is a source of discomfort for passengers.

Thus, an object of the invention is to provide a car with two levels facilitating the organization of passenger flows, in order to ensure better accessibility to the catering area, while guaranteeing comfortable conditions for the passengers.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a car of the aforementioned type, characterized in that the upper level comprises a second landing, distinct from the first landing, and the car further comprises a second staircase extending along the first side wall and connecting the passage area from the lower level to the second landing through the hopper.

The presence of a second staircase crossing the same hopper facilitates the movement of passengers between the lower level and the upper level of the car and thus improves accessibility to the catering area, while maintaining a reduced footprint.

According to particular embodiments, the car according to the invention has one or more of the following characteristics, taken separately or in any technically possible combination:

- the first staircase and the second staircase extend on either side of the hopper in a longitudinal direction of the car;

- the car further comprises a separation device capable of separating the passage area from the catering area, the separation device being movable between a closed position preventing the movement of passengers from the passage area to the catering area and a open position;

- the separation device comprises at least one door movable between a deployed position, in which the separation device is in the closed position, and a retracted position, in which the separation device is in the open position, the or each door being specific to move from the deployed position to the retracted position by translation and/or by rotation;

- the car further comprises at least one side wall, each of the first and second stairs comprising a plurality of steps extending from the first side wall to the or one of the side walls, the or each side wall s preferably extending to the ceiling of the car;

- The or each side wall has a glazed surface;

- the intermediate floor further comprises a walkway extending longitudinally between the first landing and the second landing, the walkway extending transversely between the second side wall and the hopper;

- the first bearing extends between a first longitudinal end of the car and a first transverse partition, the first transverse partition extending between the second side wall and the hopper, the second bearing extends between a second longitudinal end of the car and a second transverse partition, the second transverse partition extending between the second side wall and the hopper, the first and the second transverse partitions preferably extending from the intermediate floor to the ceiling;

- at least one of the first and second transverse partitions has a glazed surface.

The invention also relates to a railway vehicle comprising at least one car of the aforementioned type.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, given solely by way of example and made with reference to the appended drawings, among which:

There is shown, in Figures 1 and 2, a car 10 according to a first embodiment of the invention, intended to equip a railway vehicle 8, in particular a railway vehicle traveling at high speed.

In this embodiment, the car 10 is a restaurant car intended to accommodate passengers wishing to obtain products, such as drinks and/or food, as well as to offer a space suitable for the consumption of the products.

The car 10 extends in length in a longitudinal direction X between a first end 12 and a second end 14. The car 10 is delimited laterally by a first side wall 16 and a second side wall 18 arranged one opposite the the other in a transverse direction Y perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X. These first 16 and second 18 side walls delimit an interior space 19 in the transverse direction Y.

In the remainder of the application, the terms “longitudinally” and “transversely” are used with reference to said longitudinal direction X and transverse direction Y.

The car 10 also comprises a lower floor 20 and a ceiling 22, delimiting the interior space 19 in an elevation direction Z perpendicular to the longitudinal X and transverse Y directions.

The car 10 is a car with two levels, and therefore comprises a lower level 24 and an upper level 26. The lower level 24 and the upper level 26 have substantially identical lengths, from the first end 12 to the second end 14, and substantially identical widths, from the first side wall 16 to the second side wall 18.

The car 10 comprises an intermediate floor 28 separating the upper level 26 from the lower level 24 and defining a funnel 30 leading to the upper level 26 and to the lower level 24. The car 10 further comprises a stairwell comprising a first staircase 32 and a second staircase 34 each connecting the lower level 24 to the upper level 26 through the hopper 30.

In the example of the , the car 10 communicates with preceding and following cars of the railway vehicle by two passages 35, located at the level of the first end 12 and the second end 14, and both leading to the upper level 26.

The movement of passengers is here blocked at the lower level 24 at the level of at least one of the first longitudinal end 12 and the second longitudinal end 14, and in particular at the level of the first longitudinal end 12 and the second longitudinal end 14.

Traffic from the car 10 to the preceding and following cars is ensured in this example at the upper level 26. Thus, it is not necessary to allow travelers to cross the lower level 24, which makes it possible to arrange the lower level 24 more efficiently.

The lower level 24 comprises at least one catering area 36 and a passage area 38, separate from the catering area 36. It is understood by this that the car 10 comprises a separation device 40 capable of separating the passage area 38 of the catering area 36.

The catering area 36 comprises for example a sales area and a consumption area separated by a counter.

The sales area is a service area in which on-board personnel prepare consumable products (preparation, heating and/or cooking of food and/or beverages) and sell the said products. The consumption area is an area where passengers park for food. This area includes, for example, tables and/or seats, ischial supports and garbage cans.

According to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2, the catering area extends over the entire length of the lower level 24 of the car 10. Alternatively, the lower level 24 also comprises a passenger reception room comprising seats travellers.

The passage zone 38 has reduced dimensions compared to the catering zone 36 and serves as a circulation zone between the first and the second staircases 32, 34, as will be described later.

The passage zone 38 extends in the longitudinal direction X between the first staircase 32 and the second staircase 34, which will be described later, over a length of between 40 cm and 500 cm, preferably between 40 cm and 300 cm, and in the transverse direction Y between the first side wall 16 and the separation device 40 over a width of between 60 cm and 100 cm

The separation device 40 is movable between a plurality of positions, including a closed position preventing the movement of passengers from the passage area 38 to the catering area 36 (visible in Figures 1 and 2), and an open position allowing the movement of passengers from passage area 38 to catering area 36.

The separation device 40 comprises at least one door 42 movable between a deployed position, in which the separation device 40 is in the closed position, and a retracted position, in which the separation device 40 is in the open position. The or each door 42 is for example capable of moving from the extended position to the retracted position by translation and/or by rotation.

For example, as shown in the , the separation device 40 comprises two sliding doors 42 adapted to slide in the longitudinal direction X to pass from the extended position to the retracted position. Alternatively, the separation device 40 comprises a single sliding door 42.

The separation device 40 is preferably activatable automatically by the passengers, for example by means of a button-type actuator or presence sensors, to pass from the closed position to the open position.

As a variant, the separation device 40 can only be activated by the personnel on board the vehicle. For example, a vehicle staff member moves the separation device 40 from the closed position to the open position at the start of the vehicle service, to allow passengers on board the vehicle to access the catering area 36.

Advantageously, the separation device 40 is able to be locked in the closed position, for example by the personnel on board the vehicle, when a catering service is not, or is no longer, provided. It is then no longer possible for a passenger to go to catering area 36, which is securely closed.

The upper level 26 includes a first level 50 and a second level 52.

According to the first embodiment of the invention, the first bearing 50 and the second bearing 52 are separate. It is understood by this that it is impossible to go from the first level 50 to the second level 52, and vice versa, while remaining at the upper level 26.

In the example shown in the , each landing 50, 52 includes a reception room 53. Each reception room 53 is intended to receive passengers and/or goods. When the reception room 53 is intended to accommodate passengers, it typically comprises a plurality of seats extending in rows in the transverse direction Y.

The first bearing 50 extends between the first longitudinal end 12 of the car 10 and an internal edge 54A on which is mounted a first transverse partition 55, the first transverse partition 55 extending between the second side wall 18 and the hopper 30 .

The second bearing 52 extends between the second longitudinal end 14 of the car 10 and an internal edge 54B on which is mounted a second transverse partition 56, the second transverse partition 56 extending between the second side wall 18 and the hopper 30 .

The intermediate floor 28 is here formed by the first bearing 50 and the second bearing 52, both separated by a through opening 58 delimited in the longitudinal direction X by the transverse partitions 55, 56. On the , the restoration zone 36 is visible through said opening 58.

The first and second transverse partitions 55, 56 extend in the direction of extension Z from the intermediate floor 28 over a height greater than 0.85 m. Such a height ensures the safety of passengers on the upper level 26, by reducing the risk of falling over the transverse partitions 55, 56.

Advantageously, the first and the second transverse partitions 55, 56 extend along the direction of extension Z from the intermediate floor 28 to the ceiling 22 of the car 10. In addition to guaranteeing the safety of the passengers located at the upper level 26, such partitions 55, 56 reduce or even prevent noise and/or odors originating from the catering area 36 located on the lower level 24 from reaching the passengers located on the upper level 26.

Preferably, at least one of the first and second transverse partitions 55, 56 has a glazed surface.

Advantageously, the first and second transverse partitions 55, 56 are made of glass, in particular tempered glass or laminated glass, or any other transparent material. Such partitions provide better light and create a “vault effect under great height” pleasant for passengers, while ensuring good sound insulation.

This "vault effect under great height" gives an impression of space and thus reduces the feeling of confinement that the passengers may feel inside the car 10. The comfort of the passengers is thus improved.

In the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2, the hopper 30 is located substantially in the center of the car 10 in the longitudinal direction X, so that the first bearing 50 and the second bearing 52 have substantially the same length.

The hopper 30 has, in the longitudinal direction X, a length of between 500 cm and 800 cm.

The first staircase 32 and the second staircase 34 extend on either side of the hopper 30 in the longitudinal direction X of the car 10.

The first staircase 32 connects the first landing 50 to the passage area 38 of the lower level 24 and the second staircase 34 connects the second landing 52 to the passage area 38 of the lower level 24. The first staircase 32 and the second staircase 34 lead thus both at the lower level 24 in the same passage zone 38. The presence of a single passage zone 38 in which the two staircases 32 and 34 arrive makes it possible to reduce the size of the stairwell and the size of the hopper 30, and therefore to increase the space available for passengers, goods and/or technical equipment.

The first and the second staircases 32, 34 each comprise a plurality of steps 70 extending along the transverse direction Y, for example from the first side wall 16.

In the example shown in the , the steps 70 extend in the transverse direction Y from the first side wall 16 to an interior side wall 72 .

Said partition 72 has at the lower level 24 a passage opening between the passage zone 38 and the restoration zone 36, said opening being closed off by the separation device 40 when the latter is in the closed position.

Preferably, the lateral partition 72 extends in the elevation direction Z from the lower floor 20 at least to the level of the intermediate floor 28.

According to a particular embodiment, the lateral partition 72 extends from the lower floor 20 to the ceiling 22 of the car 10, that is to say over the entire height of the interior space 19. The zone of restoration 36 is thus delimited in part by the lateral partition 72 in the transverse direction Y. The fact that the lateral partition 72 extends as far as the ceiling 22 of the car 10 makes it possible to isolate acoustically and olfactorily the restoration zone 36 from the upper level 26, and thus ensures greater comfort for passengers.

Preferably, the side partition 72 has a glazed surface. Advantageously, the lateral partition 72 is made of glass, in particular tempered glass or laminated glass, or any other transparent material. This has the effect of bringing light to the level of the stairs 32, 34 and creates a pleasant “vault effect under great height” for the passengers, while ensuring good acoustic insulation.

This effect gives an impression of space and thus reduces the feeling of confinement that the passengers may feel inside the car 10. The comfort of the passengers is thus improved.

The operation of the catering car 10 according to the first embodiment will now be described.

To access the catering area 36, a passenger descends from the upper level 26 of the car 10, which he may have reached beforehand if he comes from another car by accessing it through one of the passages 35. The passenger borrows, depending on where it comes from, one of the stairs 32, 34 and arrives in the passage area 38.

The passenger then accesses the catering area 36. According to a particular embodiment, the separation device 40 therefore switches to the open position in order to allow the passenger to access the catering area 36.

The passenger then returns to his seat by again taking one of the stairs 32, 34 to the upper level 26.

It is easy to understand how the car 10 according to the present invention facilitates the movement of passengers. Indeed, in a state-of-the-art car with a single staircase, passengers arriving from both ends of the car would have taken a single staircase at the same time to access the catering area. These passengers would also potentially have been confronted with a flow of passengers going up to the upper level 26. These crossings of flows would have been likely to create a congestion effect, in particular at meal times.

The present invention solves this problem thanks to the second staircase 34, which facilitates the management of passenger flows, while having a reduced footprint, the car 10 having a single passage area 38.

In addition, the presence of the partitions 55, 56, 72 makes it possible to improve the comfort of the passengers by reducing the circulation of noises and odors from the catering area 36, while guaranteeing their safety. In addition, the use of partitions made of glass or transparent material reduces the effect of confinement that passengers might feel in Car 10.

When a passenger only wishes to cross the car 10, without accessing the catering area 36, for example to go from a car located on the side of the first end 12 and join a car located on the side of the second end 14, the passenger joins the first landing 50, descends the first staircase 32, crosses the passage area 38, then climbs the second staircase 34 to arrive at the second landing 52.

Thus, the passenger does not need to cross the catering area 36, which could be inconvenient when a large number of people are inside.

In addition, the securing of the catering area 36 is facilitated, since it suffices to lock the separation device 40 in the closed position, this operation not preventing the crossing of the car 10 by a passenger.

A car 110 according to a second embodiment is represented on the . The elements common to the two embodiments are not described again and only their reference sign is incremented by 100 for greater clarity.

In the second embodiment, the intermediate floor 128 further comprises a walkway 80 extending longitudinally between the first landing 150 and the second landing 152, which allows a passenger to pass from the first landing 150 to the second landing 152 without passing through the lower level.

In the example shown in the , the intermediate floor 128 is formed by the first landing 150, the second landing 152 and the walkway 80.

In the example shown in the , the gateway 80 extends transversely between the second side wall 118 and the hopper 130, so that the intermediate floor 128 has no through opening other than the hopper 130 and the car 110 has no transverse partitions.

For example, seats are arranged on said walkway 80. The upper level 126 of car 110 then has a single reception room 153.

The walkway 80 allows a passenger to cross the car 110 from one end 112, 114 to the other via the upper level 126, without having to go via the lower level. The movement of passengers is thus further simplified.

According to a particular embodiment, the car 110 has mounting brackets for the gangway 80, said brackets being integrated into the car 110. Such brackets make it possible in particular to go from a car 10 having the configuration of the first embodiment to a car 110 having the configuration of the second embodiment.

In other words, the car 10 according to the first embodiment advantageously has mounting brackets, integrated for example into the second side wall 18, into the side partitions 72 and/or the internal edges 54A, 54B.

The fixing supports are, for example, inserts intended to receive fixing means, such as screws or any other type of fixing by mechanical, electrical or magnetic locking and unlocking.

It is thus possible to rearrange the car 10 by removing the transverse partitions 55, 56 and by installing the gangway 80 between the first landing 50 and the second landing 52. After fitting the gangway 80, the car is then in the same configuration as the car 110 represented on the .

Alternatively, the car 10, 110 also includes at least one lower level passage 24 at the first end 12 and/or the second end 14, so that the passage from the car 10 to the preceding cars and/or following is possible via the lower level 24.

According to a variant represented on the , the separation device 40 comprises two doors 42 mounted so as to be able to rotate about a central axis C, parallel to the direction of elevation Z, between the deployed position in which the doors 42 separate the passage zone 38 from the zone of restoration 36, and a retracted position (visible on the ) in which the doors 42 extend in the passage zone 38 up to the first side wall 16. In this particular embodiment, the separation device 40 in the open position divides the passage zone 38 into two half-zones 38B in the longitudinal direction X. A passenger wishing to cross the passage area 38 must then go through the catering area 36 (as illustrated in the by means of a double-dotted arrow), which makes it possible to arouse his desire to consume.

Alternatively, the side partition 72 extends, at the level of the stairs 32, 34, from the steps 70 to the ceiling 22 of the car 10. The space under the stairs 32, 34 is thus accessible from the catering area 36, in particular to store equipment or to install technical equipment or vending machines for drinks or foodstuffs.

As a variant, other arrangements are arranged at the level of the walkway 80. For example, the car comprises interior partitions extending in the transverse direction Y and making it possible to divide the reception room 153 into several zones. Doors, for example, allow you to pass from one area to another.

For example, a playground has been set up at footbridge 80 and is intended to accommodate families traveling in particular with children. The interior partitions isolate the play area from the passengers located at the level of landings 50, 52, which guarantees their comfort.

According to another example, one or more lounges are arranged at the level of the walkway 80 and are isolated from the rest of the upper level 26 by said interior partitions. These lounges are, for example, reserved for a particular public, for example professionals, offering them a quiet environment in which to work. The presence of the two staircases 32, 34, which facilitates the movement of passengers, makes it possible to imagine a large number of facilities, such as a library, an ephemeral museum or a painting exhibition hall, including facilities preventing crossing the upper level 26.

Alternatively, the car is not a restaurant car and the catering area 36 is replaced by another area, such as an area reserved for a given category of passengers, for example first class passengers.
