Claims (14)

  1. Automatic machine for the continuous attaching of an adhesive tape (18), provided with labels (16), forming self-adhesive handles on the packagings of all products and which can be grouped together under an envelope in a box or under a plastics film, characterized in that it comprises a device (10) applying said tape (18) on to a label (16) enclosed in a magazine (15) to form handles having two adhesive ends, a rotary platen (6 or 6') which turns in synchronism with the device (10) and over which passes the adhesive tape (18) provided with labels (16) in such a way that, at the time of passage of a package (E) which is moved continuously and in synchronism with the rotation of the platen (6 or 6'), this package abuts against the forward adhesive end of the tape forming a handle to adhere it against its face, while the rotation of the platen (6 or 6') and the synchronized advance of the package cause the unwinding of the tape (18) above said package and at a certain distance from the latter to apply the rearward adhesive end of the tape forming the handle against the face of the packaging opposite to that having received its forward end, the platen (6 or 6') comprising means to retain and sever the tape (18).
  2. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the rotary platen (6) comprises two parallel walls (24, 25) disposed on both sides of a horizontal central shaft (7) and of which the ends are connected together by two crosspieces (26) which are each provided in their middle with a gap (27) which extends to between the walls.
  3. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the means to retain and sever the tape (18) are symmetrical relative to the horizontal shaft (7).
  4. Machine according to Claim 3, characterised in that the means to retain and sever comprise two actuators (28, 29) fixed vertically between the walls (24, 25) and in the region of the gap (27) of each crosspiece (26) and which include parallel control rods (30 and 31) joined respectively to a fork (32) in the form of a U, each of the vertical limbs of which supports a freely rotatable roller (33), and to a serrated cutting blade (36), on both sides of said blade and between it and the vertical limbs of the fork (32) are pivoted and elastically loaded two levers (34) in the form of an L of which the horizontal part forming a hook lies outside the rotary platen (6) such that the extreme edges of the longer length of each lever (34) cooperate with the rollers (33).
  5. Machine according to Claim 4, characterised in that each lever (34) is elastically loaded by a spring (35).
  6. Machine according to Claim 4, characterised in that the actuators (28 and 29) placed at each end of the rotating platen (6) operate alternately.
  7. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the rotary platen (6') comprises two parallel walls (24', 25') disposed on both sides of a horizontal and central shaft (7') and of which the ends are connected together by two crosspieces (26') which are each provided in their middle with a gap (27') which extends to between the walls, while each wall (24', 25') is provided in the region of the main vertical axis of the rotary platen (6') with an aperture (37') parallel to the shaft (7').
  8. Machine according to Claim 7, characterised in that the means to retain and sever the tape (18) and the apertures (37') are symmetrical relative to the horizontal shaft (7').
  9. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the means to maintain the tape (18) at a certain distance from the package consists of a first actuator (18') fixed horizontally in the region of the aperture (37') and between the walls (24', 25') and which include two parallel control rods (39') of which the free ends support a plate (40') which traverses said aperture to emerge outside the rotary platen (6'), while the plate (40') is fixed to a retaining finger (32) disposed horizontally and parallel to said aperture.
  10. Machine according to Claim 8, characterised in that the means to retain and sever comprise a second actuator (42') fixed vertically between the walls (24', 25') and in the region of the gap (27') of each crosspiece (26') and which includes a control arm (43') fixed to a fork (32') in the form of a U of which each vertical limb supports a freely rotatable roller (33'), while the middle of the base of the U includes a serrated cutting blade (36'), on both sides of said blade and between it and the vertical limbs of the fork (32') are pivoted and elastically loaded two levers (34') in the form of an L, of which the horizontal part forming a hook lies outside the rotary platen (6') such that the extreme edges of the longer length of the L of each lever (34') cooperate with the rollers (33').
  11. Machine according to Claim 9, characterised in that the horizontally orientated actuators (38') operate alternately.
  12. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the crosspiece (26 or 26') presents a rounded outer profile.
  13. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the adhesive tape (18) is fed to the rotary platen (6 or 6') by means of pullies (19, 20, 21, 22, 23).
  14. Machine according to Claim 1, characterised in that the device (10) comprises a double horizontal connecting rod (12) which pivots about a vertical axis (13) provided at its middle, while the rollers (14) turn freely at each end of said connecting rod.
