Abstract

Es wird ein Verfahren zum Schleifen oder Polieren von Kunststoff oder Glas, insbesondere zum Schleifen von Acrylglas angegeben, bei dem ein maschinell angetriebenes Schleifwerkzeug über eine Bearbeitungsfläche (44) bewegt wird. Das Schleifen wird trocken ohne flüssiges Arbeitsmedium durchgeführt, wobei das Schleifwerkzeug (12) eine kreisende oder um eine feste Schwenkachse (14) oszillierende Bewegung mit hoher Frequenz ausführt, wobei der Schleifstaub randseitig abgesaugt wird. Das Schleifwerkzeug weist eine geschlossene Schleiffläche mit nachgiebig eingebetteten Schleifkörpern auf, wobei vorzugsweise eine Mehrzahl der Schleifkörper eine ebene Vorderfläche besitzt, die durch Seitenflächen relativ scharfkantig begrenzt sind und wobei der überwiegende Teil der Vorderflächen annähernd parallel zur Bearbeitungsfläche (44) orientiert ist. Das Verfahren ermöglicht eine Feinstbearbeitung von Kunststoff- und Glasoberflächen mit besonders hoher Oberflächenqualität.
