Definitions

  • the invention relates to refrigerated display cabinets with a shelf structure and with a lower goods space, which is preferred in front of the shelf structure and has an air inlet (4) on the front.
  • Such furniture cf. for example, US-A-3 756 038, often referred to as refrigerated shelves, is generally used to store and display perishable goods for sale. For example, they are installed in retail outlets in the food industry and often contain dairy products or other products that require refrigeration.
  • the cooling of the shelf structure which is open towards the front, is largely generated by a cooling air curtain, which is guided on the front of the shelf structure facing the customer.
  • cooled air exits in the front upper area of the refrigerated display case and is drawn off again in the front lower area, that is to say at the front edge of the lower goods area.
  • the lower goods area is usually made as a vat, which is closed off at the front by a wall.
  • Such refrigerated display cabinets have the disadvantage that the goods must be lifted over this front wall when loading the lower goods area.
  • the larger containers of goods usually used, for example entire cartons this means a high and cost-effective personnel and labor expenditure.
  • the front edge of the lower goods room is often not equipped with a wall, but only with a small paragraph. In some cases there is no such paragraph.
  • the object of the present invention is therefore to provide a refrigerated display cabinet of the type mentioned at the outset which is easy to load. Good cooling with as little energy expenditure as possible, in particular a stable cooling air curtain, should be ensured.
  • an air baffle is arranged along the front edge of the lower goods area, which in an operating position is oriented substantially vertically and at least partially above the air inlet and which can be moved into a loading position in which the lower goods area directly is accessible from the front.
  • the air baffle When loading the lower goods area, the air baffle is moved into the loading position.
  • the loading position is designed, for example, in such a way that the entire air baffle is located below the front edge of the lower goods area, so that no or at least no significant part of the air baffle protrudes above this edge. The goods can thus be pushed directly onto the floor of the lower goods area.
  • the air guide wall is moved back into its original position, the operating position.
  • the temporary malfunction of the cooling air curtain has almost no effect on the temperature inside the refrigerated display cabinet.
  • the cooling air curtain is considerably more stable. This results in significant reductions in energy costs; for example, an air baffle according to the invention with a height of 10 cm above the front edge of the lower goods area results in an energy saving of about 10%.
  • the air guide wall can be locked in the operating position and in the loading position.
  • the locking in the loading position can be effected for example by a stop against which the air baffle is pressed by its own weight.
  • a construction with a similar effect is also conceivable for locking in the operating position.
  • the mobility of the air guide wall is realized in that the air guide wall is designed to be foldable about a horizontal axis of rotation.
  • This solution can be implemented without great expenditure on equipment and is also easy to use.
  • the air baffle is usually folded forward from its vertical operating position, away from the furniture.
  • the angle between the operating and loading positions should be significantly higher than 90 °, preferably around 180 °, so that the folded-down air baffle does not hinder the loading process.
  • the axis of rotation is arranged in the lower region of the air baffle.
  • the air baffle is part of a front flap which also has a cover which rests on a holder for information carriers.
  • the front flap is preferably designed as a rigid component and can be folded as a whole with the air guide wall around the axis of rotation. For example, price tags or bar code markings can be inserted, inserted or clamped into the holder.
  • the cover is usually on the information carrier and must of course be transparent. To change information carriers, the front flap is rotated about the horizontal axis so that the holder and information carrier are accessible. At the same time, the air baffle is folded down. Changing price tags and filling the lower goods area can therefore be carried out in one operation.
  • the use of the holders is particularly convenient if the axis of rotation is arranged on or at the front edge of the cover facing the customer.
  • the swivel device can also have a front height panel, which is arranged below the cover. This is generally not transparent and can, for example, be painted or printed with decorative motifs. This eliminates the need for an elaborate design of the front of the furniture body, referred to here as the "front height" (for example by stove enamelling).
  • the axis of rotation is preferably arranged in or at the lower edge of the front height cladding.
  • the air guide wall is designed to be displaceable in a substantially vertical direction.
  • the vertical displaceability can be realized particularly advantageously by a pivoting mechanism which is rotatably connected to the furniture body at a first pivot point and to the air guide wall at a second pivot point.
  • the pivoting mechanism can usually be rotated at the pivot points about horizontal axes that run parallel to the longitudinal direction of the furniture.
  • the pivoting mechanism has one or more rods of variable length, which are rotatably connected at one end to the furniture body and at the other end to the air guide wall. It has been shown that in certain cases a single telescopic rod can be sufficient for an air baffle.
  • the first pivot point should preferably be arranged below the lower goods area and the second pivot point should preferably be located approximately at the level of the lower edge of the air guide wall.
  • the pivoting mechanism can be equipped with a force support device. This can be implemented, for example, by a compressed air cylinder or a gas pressure spring.
  • the swivel mechanism is equipped with an electric motor, hydraulic or pneumatic drive.
  • guides are arranged on the furniture body or on the lower goods compartment, which hold the lateral edges of the air guide wall in a predetermined position in the operating position.
  • the guides must be designed so that they do not hinder the vertical displacement into or from the loading position.
  • Vertical slots are preferably suitable for this purpose, in which the lateral edges of the air guide wall can slide.
  • the guides are preferably dimensioned such that the air guide wall is held laterally during the entire displacement process.
  • An air baffle does not need to extend the entire length of the piece of furniture. It is also conceivable that only parts of the cooling shelf front are provided with a movable air baffle.
  • a disadvantage of the previously used fixed front walls according to the prior art is also that the customer can only look into the lower goods area from above.
  • the air baffle is at least partially made of transparent material. This enables the customer to see the products stored in the lower goods area from the front and from a greater distance.
  • a lighting device can be arranged on the outer side of the air baffle facing the customer.
  • such a lighting device is realized by a fluorescent tube running in the horizontal direction.
  • incandescent lamps for example halogen headlights, can also be used. The light from the lighting shines upwards and backwards and can thus illuminate the goods stored in the lower goods area from the front and the objects placed on the display surfaces of the shelf structure from diagonally below.
  • the lighting device can be arranged inside a front flap described above. It is itself preferably rigidly attached to the furniture body and is accessible for repair and maintenance work in the loading position of the front flap or the air baffle.
  • the lighting device is covered on its outward-facing side by the above-mentioned front height cladding. This even makes it accessible from the outside.
  • air baffles During loading of the lower goods area, only one or a maximum of two sections (air baffles) need to be folded forward or lowered. The smaller the individual air baffles, the less the disturbance of the cooling air sensor when goods are pushed into the lower goods area.
  • the lateral guides described above are particularly important, so that adjacent air guide walls connect flush with one another.
  • the invention can also be implemented in a third variant, according to which one or more of the air guide walls is / are designed to be horizontally displaceable.
  • one of the air baffles is brought into the loading position by being pushed close in front of or behind one of the adjacent air baffles until the desired section of the lower goods area is accessible from the front.
  • the locking in the operating and loading position generally arises automatically due to the friction during the horizontal shifting process.
  • the horizontal displaceability is realized by a double guide which engages around the lower edge of an air guide wall in the operating position and the lower edge of two air guide walls in the loading position.
  • FIG. 2 The principle of the invention and two of its preferred variants can be seen from the schematic drawing in FIG. It only shows the front section of a refrigerated display cabinet according to the invention, the rest of the structure corresponds to that of an ordinary refrigerated shelf and is described below in FIGS. 2 and 6.
  • the lower merchandise compartment 2 of the refrigerated display cabinet according to the invention does not have a fixed front wall, but its bottom 3 is only separated by a small step from the air inlet 4 on the front side which is accessible to the customer (on the right in FIG. 1). No further outer wall is permanently installed in front of the air inlet 4.
  • the quality and stability of the air flow are considerably increased by a movable air baffle 5.
  • Arrows 10a and 10b indicate two variants of the mobility of the air guide wall 5: firstly, a shift in the vertical direction downwards (arrow 10b), and secondly, a folding process by one horizontally at the lower edge of the air guide wall (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing in FIG. 1) ) rotating axis 8.
  • the air baffle 5 can be moved from an operating position (solid lines in Figure 1) to one or more loading positions (dash-dotted line).
  • a sealing strip 18 can be provided between the lower section of the air baffle and the furniture body.
  • air baffles 5 up to a height of approximately 40 cm can be realized. With the height of the air baffle 5, the quality and stability of the cooling air curtain naturally continue to grow; depending on the size of the goods and containers, however, the comfort of the customer deteriorates when reaching into the lower goods area 2. In practice, compromises will therefore have to be made in the height of the air baffle 5, it will be in the range of 10 to 50 cm, preferably between 20 and 45 cm.
  • FIG. 2 shows a refrigerated display case according to the second variant of the invention.
  • the basic structure consists of a shelf structure with display surfaces 1 and a lower goods compartment 2 arranged underneath with a floor 3.
  • the lower goods chamber 2 is advanced in front of the front edge of the display surfaces 1. It does not have a fixed front wall, but is freely accessible from the front.
  • In its front area there is an air inlet 4 which extends over the entire length of the piece of furniture.
  • the cold air which falls down as a cooling air curtain in front of the display surfaces 1, is drawn off.
  • movable air guiding walls 5a, 5b, 5c are arranged in front of the lower merchandise compartment 2 of the refrigerated shelf of FIG.
  • One (5b) of the air guide walls is shown in the loading position, the other (5a, 5c) are in the operating position.
  • the process and the realization of the vertical displacement can be seen most clearly in the cross-sectional representations of FIGS. 3 and 4.
  • the movable suspension is realized by a telescopic rod 19 per air baffle (5a, 5b, 5c).
  • Several such telescopic rods can also be provided per air guide wall.
  • the telescopic rod 19 is connected to the furniture body at a first pivot point 20 (in the case of the exemplary embodiment via a drive unit 22) and to the air guide wall (5a, 5b, 5c) at a second pivot point 21.
  • the drive unit 22 can contain an electric motor, for example. Due to the variable length of the telescopic rod 19, the rotary movement about the first pivot point 20 is converted into a vertical linear movement of the air guide wall (5a, 5b, 5c).
  • the pivoting mechanism in particular the drive unit 22 and the telescopic rod 19, are largely covered by a covering made of a lower cover plate 24 and two upper cover plates 23 enclosing a gap (FIG. 5). This prevents disturbances in the overall visual impression of the furniture.
  • the displacement process is supported by guides 25 which are fastened to the lower goods area 2, preferably in the vicinity of the air inlet 4.
  • the guides 25 encompass the lateral edges of the air guide walls 5a, 5b, 5c and define an always constant displacement path.
  • the upper part of the air guide wall 5a, 5b, 5c is transparent, as indicated in FIGS. 3 and 4 by the absence of hatching.
  • the hatched part of the air guide wall 5a, 5b, 5c, which also serves as a front height cladding, can be opaque, for example painted or printed.
  • a bumper strip 26 is arranged on the outside of the air guide wall 5a, 5b, 5c. Due to the attachment to the air baffle (instead of to the front edge of the lower goods area 2), the bumper strip 26 is at a height at which it can optimally absorb shocks with shopping trolleys and thus produce the desired protective effect.
  • the bumper strip can serve as a cover for a lighting device 16 which is arranged in its interior.
  • the lighting device 16 generally one or more fluorescent tubes, illuminates the lower goods space and the goods located on the display shelves through the transparent part of the air guide wall 5a, 5b, 5c.
  • the arrangement on the outside of the air baffle 5a, 5b, 5c results in good insulation against the entry of heat which is emitted by the lighting device. Nevertheless, the lighting can be placed in the immediate vicinity of the goods to be illuminated. It is particularly advantageous to equip the display shelves with glass inlays in accordance with German patent application P 40 03 911.0.
  • the cooling shelf of FIG. 6 has the same basic structure as the previous embodiment, that is to say a shelf structure with display surfaces 1 and a lower goods compartment 2 arranged underneath without a fixed front wall.
  • an air guide wall 5a arranged vertically in the example is shown. According to the invention, it can be folded about a horizontally running axis of rotation 8, usually realized by a normal hinge.
  • the air baffle is part of a front flap 7a, in which a cover 6a is also integrated.
  • the cover 6a rests on a holder 13 for information carriers. In this case, it is a price tag bar with a flat contact surface.
  • the information carriers are clamped at their upper and lower ends.
  • the axis of rotation 8 runs in the front lower region of the front flap 7a.
  • the cooling shelf has two front flaps 7a, 7b, each with an air guide wall 5a, 5b and a cover 6a, 6b.
  • the right front flap 7b is shown in the loading position. Merchandise containers can be inserted directly from the front onto the floor 3 of the lower merchandise compartment 2.
  • the front flap 7b is then pivoted back into the operating position in which the air guide wall 5a, 5b is arranged vertically, as is shown in the left front flap 7a.
  • FIG. 7 shows the front section 9 of the furniture body together with the air baffle 5a in detail.
  • Arrow 10 indicates the folding process around axis 8.
  • the wavy arrows 11a, 11b show the cooling air flow. Air flowing downward in the cooling air curtain (arrow 11a) is sucked in at the air inlet 4 and passed on via the cooling air duct 12 (arrow 11b).
  • FIG. 8 shows another variant of a cooling shelf according to the invention.
  • the same reference numerals were used as in the previous figures.
  • the lower case letters for the sections of the swivel device have been omitted.
  • the front flap 7 of FIG. 8 has, in addition to the air guide wall 5, a front height cladding 14 which covers the refrigerator on its front.
  • a lighting device 16 is arranged below the shoulder 6 'and between the air baffle 5 and the front height cladding 14. It generally consists of one or more fluorescent tubes running along the front edge of the piece of furniture.
  • the air baffle 5 is designed to be transparent in any case in order to allow an insight into the lower goods area 2. In this case, however, this is absolutely necessary so that light can shine from the lighting device 16 into the interior of the piece of furniture, as is indicated by lines 15.
  • This lighting device 16 is preferably combined with glass inlays 17 in the display surfaces 1 in accordance with the German patent application P 40 03 911.0 filed simultaneously with the present application.
  • the integration of the lighting device 16 in the front flap 7 offers the advantage that, for the first, the front flap 7 with the air guide wall 5 serves as a transparent pane in an additional function as a housing for the lighting device 16; secondly, the lighting device 16 is easily accessible for maintenance and repair work. You only need to fold the front flap 7 about the axis 8 (as when feeding new goods into the lower goods room 2) (arrow 10). The lighting device 16, which also always develops heat, is therefore located outside the cooled area.
  • FIG. 9 shows further variants of front flaps 7 with air guide walls 5 according to the invention.
  • reference numerals are only drawn in variants A and C.
  • the axis of rotation 8 is indicated by a cross.
  • the lower goods room 2 is located on the left of the front flaps 7.
  • All seven variants have a luff guide wall 5 and a cover 6. While all covers 6 are designed practically flat, the air guide walls 5 can deviate from the simple design according to FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 or variants C and G from FIG. 9 (that is to say a planar, almost exactly vertical arrangement). So flat, but slightly inclined to the vertical variants A, B, D are shown. Curved (F) or kinked (E) designs of the air baffle 5 are also possible.
  • the cover 6 can be arranged horizontally (A, G) or at an angle to the horizontal (B to F).
  • the front flaps 7 in the variants C to G additionally have a front height cladding 14. This can be printed in color on the back.
  • FIGS 10 and 11 show the third variant of the invention: the air guide walls (5a, 5b, 5c) are horizontally displaceable here.
  • Brackets 27 ensure a stable vertical position of the air guide walls 5a, 5b, 5c, in the operating and loading position and when moving in the horizontal direction. With the brackets 27, a seal can also be provided between the inner surface of the outer air guide wall 5b and the outer surface of the inner air guide wall 5a or 5c, which seal is not shown in the drawings. The seal avoids losses due to cooling air escaping between two adjacent air baffles.
