Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel distributor housing according to the preamble of claim 1.
- an intake system for an air-fuel mixture of an internal combustion engine with two intake valves per cylinder is known.
- One intake pipe leads to each cylinder from an air collector.
- each intake pipe is divided into two parallel sections that lead to the two intake valves of each cylinder.
- a throttle valve is arranged in one or both sections.
- Outside and separate from the air collector there is a fuel line running along the internal combustion engine, on which an injection valve is arranged for each cylinder, which opens into the intake pipe before the division into the two sections.
- EP-0102169 discloses an intake system for an air-fuel mixture of an internal combustion engine, in which a cast profile is arranged in the V of intersecting intake pipes. Lines for supplying and removing fuel to individual injection valves, which are assigned to the cylinders of the internal combustion engine, run within this profile. The profile is screwed onto the intake pipes as a separate component.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a compact fuel distributor housing which makes optimal use of the available installation space, is easy and inexpensive to manufacture and enables time-saving and cost-saving installation.
- the fuel distributor housing according to the invention is designed as a lower part of an air collector and advantageously integrates sections of the suction lines running to the inlet ducts arranged in the cylinder head, throttle bodies for shutting off these ducts, all lines necessary for supplying and removing fuel, and receptacles for injection valves which can be plugged into the fuel distributor housing .
- This fuel distributor housing has a compact shape and is particularly advantageous to be arranged in the space available in the V of an internal combustion engine with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement.
- the channels running vertically between the upper part of the air collector and the underside of the fuel distributor housing are combined in two rows which form the outer, longitudinally extending edges of the fuel distributor housing. In the middle between these and parallel to it, a flow leading to the supply of fuel runs adjacent to the underside. On both sides, equally spaced from the flow and adjacent to the top, there is a return assigned to a row for the removal of fuel.
- the flow and return are each connected by a flat rib, in which the receptacles for the injection valves are integrated.
- the fuel distributor housing thus has a V-shaped cross section between the vertical rows of the channels and makes optimal use of the installation space located between the rows.
- the V-shaped design and additional ribbing on the top and bottom make the fuel rail housing insensitive to the thermal mechanical stresses in the V of the internal combustion engine.
- the integration of the high-frequency injection valves in a central area of a rigid housing significantly reduces the sound radiation.
- the two rows have a longitudinal offset from one another which corresponds to the offset of the two rows of cylinders of a V-type internal combustion engine from one another.
- the area created by the longitudinal offset is used at one end of the fuel rail by a bracket for a fuel pressure regulator.
- the fuel distributor housing is cooled by the amount of fuel flowing twice along its longitudinal extent through forward and return.
- the fuel distributor housing according to the invention makes the separately used separate components for supplying and removing fuel and their fastening elements superfluous. Furthermore, the fuel distributor housing can be produced in one piece as a lightweight sand casting or die-cast part made of aluminum in large numbers at low cost, machinable and easy to assemble. Before assembly, the fuel distributor housing can be subjected to a leak test when fully assembled. It avoids from the outset the effort that usually arises during the rework by renewed removal and installation.
- An air collector 1 of a 6-cylinder V-internal combustion engine (not shown in more detail) with four valves per cylinder consists of an only indicated upper part 2 and a lower part 4 which acts simultaneously as a fuel distributor housing 3.
- Suction lines 7 consisting of first sections 5 and second sections 6 execute an air flow the upper part 2 to the inlet ducts 8 arranged in the cylinder heads.
- the second sections 6 run in the fuel distributor housing 3 between its top 9 and bottom 10 as ducts 11. These ducts 11 are combined in rows 12, 13 running parallel to one another, the rows 12, 13 form the outer, longitudinal edges 14 of the fuel rail housing 3.
- a feed line 15 serving to supply fuel, equally spaced on both sides to the feed line 15 and adjacent to the top side 9, a return line 16 runs along each row 12, 13 for removing fuel.
- a flat rib 17 extends along the fuel distributor housing 3 between each return 16 and the feed 15.
- the fuel distributor housing 3 thus has an M-shaped shape transversely to its longitudinal extent, due to the vertical configuration as the edge 14 standing rows 12, 13 and the ribs 17 which are arranged between them and are in a V-shape.
- the rows 12, 13 have a longitudinal offset L with respect to the longitudinal extent of the fuel distributor housing 3, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the longitudinal offset L corresponds approximately to the outer diameter DA of a channel 11.
- one channel 11 of a pair 20 can be shut off via a rotary flap 21 for controlling the air flow led to the inlet channels 8.
- the rotary flaps 21 of a row 12, 13 are arranged on a common axis 22.
- the axes 22 penetrate all channels 11 of the rows 12, 13 in the middle.
- the adjustment of all rotary flaps 21 takes place synchronously in a known manner via an actuating mechanism 23, consisting of a pressure cell 24 and a linkage 25 acting on both axes 22, which is not discussed in detail and which is fastened to one end 26 of the fuel distributor housing 3.
- the supply of fuel takes place via a bore 27 running vertically from above into the feed 15 at the end 26 of the fuel distributor housing 3.
- Each pair 20 is assigned a receptacle 28 for an injection valve, these receptacles 28 penetrating the ribs 17 almost vertically and with a lower one Opening 29 opens obliquely in the area of underside 10 into channel 11 of pair 20, which has no rotary flap 21.
- the two receptacles 28 ' which are adjacent to the end 26 opposite, are short, perpendicular to the lead 15 holes 30 with the lead 15 in connection.
- the receptacles 28 are arranged with respect to the returns 16 such that each return 16 tangentially intersects the receptacles 28 of a row 12, 13, as can be seen in FIG.
- a vertically running holder 36 for a fuel pressure regulator 37 (FIG. 3) is arranged in the row 12.
- a bore, essentially transversely in the fuel distributor housing 3 extending line 38 is arranged so that it connects both returns 16 and the bracket 36 together.
- the line 38 cuts the holder 36 tangentially (FIG. 6).
- the inner contour of the channels 11 widens conically from a first diameter D1 located in the underside 10 in the direction of the top side 9 to a diameter D2. Adjoining this, the inner contour has a cylindrical region 39 with the diameter D2, through which the axis 22 penetrates in the center.
- the inner contour widens over a step 40 into a cylindrical section 41 with the diameter D3 leading to the upper side 9.
- the expansion of the channels 11 in the area of the axes 22 is necessary in order to compensate for the cross-sectional area of the channels 11 that is otherwise reduced by the axes 22.
- a bushing 42 is inserted, which is supported on the step 40 and whose cylindrical outer surface has the diameter D3 and whose conical inner surface widens from the diameter D1 lying in the upper side 9 to the diameter D2 of the region 39.
- the use of the bushings 42 enables the inner contour of the channels 11 to be designed in accordance with the casting and the necessary expansion of the diameter of the sections 41 from D1 to D2 does not have to be carried out by means of a complex, conical design.
- Whistles 43 for receiving screws are cast onto the fuel distributor housing 3 along the rows 12, 13 and are used to fasten the fuel distributor housing 3 to the internal combustion engine.
- Transverse ribs 44 for stiffening the fuel rail housing 3 are arranged between the rows 12, 13 on the top 9 and the bottom 10.
- the fuel rail housing 3 is made in one piece by sand casting or die casting and can be processed automatically in a few steps.
- the ends of the forward and return runs 15, 16, the bores for the axles 22 and the line 38, which are open after the drilling, are closed with plugs 45.
- an air flow from the upper part 2 of the air collector 1 via the first sections 5 of the suction lines 7 and the second sections 6 is generated by the cylinders of the internal combustion engine
- Fuel is fed under pressure through the bore 27 into the feed 15 and flows along the feed 15 through the bores 30 to the injection valves, not shown, in the receptacles 28 '.
- the excess portion of the fuel not required by the injectors arranged in the receptacles 28 is passed to the inlets 16 to the returns 16 and flows to the remaining receptacles 28 and flows to the other receptacles 28.
- the fuel circulates in each case in the ring channels of the injection valves and is around the Required amount reduced via the respective return 16 of the next receptacle 28.
- the excess portion of the fuel is supplied to the fuel pressure regulator 37 in the holder 36 by means of the line 38.
- the fuel released by the fuel pressure regulator 37 is discharged via a central bore 46 and a connecting piece 47 arranged on the underside 10 of the fuel distributor housing 3.

Abstract
Description
- Fig.2 eine Ansicht des Kraftstoffverteilergehäuses von unten,
- Fig.3 eine Ansicht des Richtungspfeiles R gemäß Fig. 1,
- Fig.4 ein Schnitt entlang der Linie IV - IV gemäß Fig.1,
