Definitions
- the invention relates to an ammunition magazine for storing large-caliber ammunition in a main battle tank with a receiving frame with essentially horizontally in rows one above the other and side by side receiving tubes for storing the cartridges, the receiving frame can be inserted from above into the ammunition bunker of the main battle tank.
- Such an ammunition magazine is described, for example, in US-A-4,562,765 or US-A-4,580,482.
- the ammunition magazine described in US Pat. No. 4,580,482 is composed of a plurality of receiving racks arranged next to one another which, when empty, can be inserted into the ammunition bunker of a main battle tank from above and are screwed together after insertion. The loading of this ammunition magazine takes place in the usual way by the team after installation in the main battle tank.
- the invention is based on the object of designing an ammunition magazine with the features mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be loaded outside the main battle tank and used in the main battle tank when loaded.
- the receiving frame is suspended on its upper side via a shock and vibration-damping holder on the underside of a bulletproof roof plate which can be inserted into an opening on the top of the main battle tank and can be locked with the edge of the opening and on its underside has at least one centering pin which engages in a holder on a base frame when the receiving frame is inserted and is firmly connected to the bottom of the ammunition bunker.
- the ammunition magazine according to the invention is, as it were, an exchangeable magazine for large-caliber ammunition.
- magazine units available, each consisting of the mounting frame and the roof plate, which are loaded outside the main battle tank and then inserted into the main battle tank when loaded, the roof plate closing the opening in the top of the main battle tank after insertion and thus closing it bulletproof and immersible roof protection is achieved.
- magazine units of this type can be used in a main battle tank.
- a great advantage of the ammunition magazine according to the invention is that the storage of the ammunition outside the main battle tank is extremely simplified.
- the mounting racks are suspended from the roof panels via the vibration-damping brackets, they can be used for storage outside the main battle tank in containers that do not require additional damping elements, so that the high framework conditions applicable to the storage and transport of ammunition are met without additional design measures can be.
- the hoists and transport vehicles do not need to be designed more strongly, since the additional weight of the roof plates is compensated for by the fact that corresponding weight can be saved on the other parts of the magazine.
- the ammunition magazine is suspended from the roof plate in a shock and vibration-dampened manner and only needs to be centered on the base frame connected to the bottom of the ammunition bunker without any direct support being required here.
- these additional receiving tubes are designed such that the receiving tubes arranged laterally next to the insertion area of the receiving frame can be pivoted against spring force in a horizontal plane into the insertion area, the ones in the pivoting direction in front of one of the pivotable receiving tubes of the base frame arranged receiving tubes of the receiving frame can be cut out on the side facing the pivotable receiving tubes.
- these additional receiving tubes can be retracted into the starting position after the loading or unloading process in order to rule out incorrect operation and to ensure an undisturbed insertion of the receiving racks.
- known battle tanks are constructed so that two ammunition magazines can be arranged side by side in the ammunition bunker, although the two openings in the top of the battle tank are not necessarily symmetrical to the longitudinal center of the vehicle.
- the invention nevertheless opens up the possibility of getting by with one type of ammunition magazine in that the holder between the receiving frame and the roof plate has an adjusting device for adjusting the relative horizontal position of the receiving frame and roof plate.
- the holder can have a rotatable suspension bolt which is guided through the roof panel and a damping element connected to the roof panel and has a device for engaging an adjusting tool at its outer end and a cam which is pivotable in the horizontal direction about the bolt axis and which is arranged at its inner end engages in a holder fastened to the receiving frame, which is displaced in the horizontal direction when the cam pivots over a sliding guide.
- the adjustment device can be used to set the relative position of the roof plate to the receiving frame under load, ie immediately before the insertion of the ammunition magazine.
- insertion aids are provided on the receiving racks. This can be done by arranging rail-like insertion aids running essentially in the vertical direction on the front and rear side of the holding racks, seen in the longitudinal direction of the holding tubes, outside the storage area of the cartridges arranged in the holding tubes, at least the insertion aid arranged on the removal side of the holding frame is designed to be removable.
- the removable insertion aid consists of two rods connected at one end via a hinge joint, one of which has a cross section in its outer contour that is matched to the outer contour of the other rod and one rod with its other end via a Joint with the lower edge of the receiving frame and the other rod is connected at its other end to the upper edge of the receiving frame via a releasable fastening device. It is expedient if the rod connected to the lower edge of the receiving frame is attached to a holder which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the receiving frame.
- a turret 1 of a main battle tank which is only indicated schematically, has in its interior an ammunition bunker 2, which has a cross-section tapering upwards on both sides through the side walls 2.2.
- An ammunition bunker 2 which has a cross-section tapering upwards on both sides through the side walls 2.2.
- a partition 15 is arranged between the openings and divides the interior of the ammunition bunker 2 into two parts.
- Each of these units has a receiving frame 3, in which a plurality of receiving tubes 4 are arranged in rows one above the other and next to one another, in which the cartridges are stored in a manner not shown.
- Each receiving frame 3 is suspended on its upper side via a holder 5, which is explained in more detail below, on a bulletproof roof plate 6, which rest on supports 16 on the upper side of the tank tower 1 and thus close the openings. Since the doors between the ammunition bunker 2 and the crew room (not shown) have a limited door opening 17, the receiving tubes 4.2 arranged in the first row are designed in a manner known per se (US Pat. No. 4,562,765) to be pivotable downwards for easier access to achieve the cartridges stored in them.
- centering bolts 7 are arranged which engage in a holder which is arranged on a base frame 8, which is firmly connected to the floor 2.1 of the ammunition bunker via vibration-damping elements 11.
- 3 additional receiving tubes 9 are arranged in the base frame 8 outside the insertion area of the receiving racks, which are only shown in FIG. 1 in the right half of the drawing. These additional receiving tubes 9 are designed to be pivotable inwards against the force of springs 10 in a horizontal plane, so that they get into the area of the door openings 17 and thus access to them is facilitated.
- the adjacent receiving tubes 9 are the receiving tubes 4.1 in the receiving frame 3 on the Receiving tubes 9 facing side cut out, so that the latter can be pivoted completely into the insertion area of the receiving frame 3 after the cartridges have been removed from the receiving tubes 4.1.
- the springs 10 ensure that the additional receiving tubes 9 are retracted into the starting position, thus preventing incorrect operation and malfunctions when inserting and removing the ammunition magazines.
- the base frame 8 is mounted via the damping elements 11, preferably in the horizontal, in a vibration-elastic manner and is additionally designed for receiving the additional receiving tubes 9.
- the centering bolts 7 arranged approximately in the middle of the mounting frame engage in corresponding holders 8.1 on the base frame 8, so that pendulum movements, which can occur due to the elastic suspensions 5 caused by the lever arm of the center of gravity of the suspension frame 3, are limited.
- FIG. 2a shows how the additional receiving tubes 9 are arranged in a part 8.2 of the base frame 8 arranged below the side wall 2.2.
- the return of the additional receiving tubes 9 are in the Starting position effecting springs 10 with one end each on the jacket of the receiving tubes 9, while the other end is connected to the base frame part 8.2 via a connecting piece 8.3.
- 6 is a section through a holder in the transverse direction of the ammunition magazine.
- Each holder has a suspension bolt 5.2, which is passed through a protective cap 5.1 and a damping element 5.5 arranged in the roof plate 6.
- the rotatable suspension bolt 5.2 On its upper side, the rotatable suspension bolt 5.2 has a hexagon 5.3 for attaching an adjusting device.
- the guide surfaces in the holder 3.1 are such that when the suspension bolt 5.2 is rotated, the receiving frame 3 is displaced in the horizontal direction relative to the roof plate 6.
- the set position can be fixed by means of a locking plate 5.6, which is held by a fastening screw 5.7.
- the bracket 5 shown not only causes an elastic vibration and shock-absorbing suspension of the mounting frame 3 on the roof plate 6, but it also allows an adjustment of the relative position of the roof plate 6 and mounting frame 3 under load, so that the existing of mounting frame 3 and roof plate 6 Magazine unit can be adapted to the asymmetrical relationships of the two insertion openings in the turret 1.
- lifting lugs 6.1 are arranged, which are used for inserting and removing the receiving frame with conventional lifting equipment.
- insertion aids are provided, which are designed as rail-like rods 13 and 14, which run essentially in the vertical direction or at an acute angle to the vertical and are arranged so that the cartridge heads and the cartridge bottoms under no circumstances with the opening edge in the tank tower 1 in Can come into contact.
- the insertion aid arranged on the front of the receiving frame 3 is designed as a linkage 13 which is fixedly connected to the receiving frame 3, while the insertion aid 14 arranged on the rear of the receiving frame 3, that is to say on the removal side, is designed as a removable and collapsible linkage which, as in FIG Fig. 2 can be seen, is constructed from two articulated rods, each running at a small acute angle to each other and to the vertical.
- the insertion aid 14 is shown in more detail in FIG. 5.
- Each of the articulated rods 14 is composed of two partial rods 14.1 and 14.2, which are connected to one another via a hinge joint 14.3.
- the two partial bars 14.1 and 14.2 can be folded together when pivoting about the joint 14.3.
- the partial bar 14.2 is connected to the upper edge of the receiving frame 3 via a locking device 14.6, while the lower free end of the partial bar 14.1 is connected via a joint 14.4 to a connecting element 14.5 fastened to the lower edge of the receiving frame 3.
- the connecting element 14.5 can be designed as a telescopic tube and its attachment point on the mounting frame 3 is offset toward the transverse center of the mounting frame 3. In this way, it is possible to fold the insertion aid 14 after releasing the locking device 14.6 and then to push it in along the underside of the receiving frame 3 to such an extent that no more disturbances occur when the cartridges are removed.
- the pulled out of the armored turret 1 receiving frames 3 can be used in a manner not shown in storage containers, which also have an opening adapted to the size of the roof plate 6 on their top, so that the receiving frames 3 in an analogous manner, as in the tank tower, on the roof plate 6 are suspended via the vibration and shock-damped brackets 5 and therefore no special measures for shock and vibration damping are required on the container itself.
