Definitions
- the invention relates to an infrared radiator with a cladding tube made of quartz glass or quartz material, the length of which is a multiple of the cross-section and the interior of which is seen in cross-section divided into two areas, in each area a heating wire or electrical connecting wire extending in the direction of the tube axis, which on one end of the cladding tube is connected to one another in an electrically conductive manner and at the other end is led to the outside via connecting parts.
- an electric infrared radiator is known with at least two radiator elements running essentially parallel to one another, the cladding tubes of which consist of opaque quartz material, quartz glass or glass with a high melting point; the cladding tubes each contain a heating conductor and are fused together along their contact edge and at one end, so that an infrared radiator with a one-sided electrical connection is formed, the heating conductors of which are connected to one another.
- Infrared emitters of the type described above are also described in the product information "Short-wave infrared emitters made from Hanau quartz glass", PIR 20 (2C 4.88 / VN Ku) from Heraeus Quarzschmelze GmbH.
- connection between the infrared radiators, whose cladding tube is divided into two areas by a central web proves to be problematic the heat conductors passed through in the two areas in those versions in which the two electrical connections are at the same end of the cladding tube.
- the central web of the cladding tube must be separated, for example by a saw cut, which is then melted again after the heat conductor connection has been passed through.
- the material is subjected to excessive mechanical processing.
- the present invention is based on the object of specifying an infrared radiator of the type described in the introduction, in which a simple connection of the wires or heating conductors guided in the two areas is possible without the cladding tube having to be mechanically processed for this purpose.
- the object is achieved in that to form the two areas from the inner tube wall protrude two mutually facing and extending in the axial direction of the cladding webs that form a gap.
- the gap between the webs, which delimit the two areas from one another, makes it possible to establish an electrical connection between the wires leading through the two areas.
- Such profile tubes are drawn endlessly and cut to the required length of the infrared radiator.
- An electrical connection is then inserted into one end of this cladding tube, which can be formed directly by the heating conductor which is passed through the two regions.
- the heating conductor is connected to the opposite end of the cladding tube.
- the cladding tube in the region of the opposing webs is pressed together in such a way that these webs touch and the wire or the electrical connecting part has an attachment. There is therefore no need for any mechanical processing operations in order to introduce such a connecting part into the cladding tube.
- the webs also achieve a high stability of the cladding tube, although there is no connection between the webs.
- the webs can be compressed and / or fused together in the area of the electrical connection over a larger area, so that the electrical connection is embedded between the webs and therefore cannot shift.
- Another possibility to form a system for an electrical connection between the two heating conductors is provided with a holding element which is inserted and anchored into the cladding tube from the open end of the cladding tube, e.g. made of quartz glass.
- the wire or the heating conductor is then guided over this holding element before the holding element is embedded or melted in the cladding tube.
- Such embedding can take place simultaneously with the closing of the cladding tube.
- the gap formed between the webs should have a width of 1 mm to 5 mm, with a preferred wall thickness of the webs between 1 mm and 5 mm.
- the inside diameter of the two areas separated from the webs is usually between 5 mm and 15 mm.
- the electrical connection between the wires passed through the two regions can be formed by a connecting part made of electrically conductive material, to which the wires are attached.
- a connecting part can be embedded in the pinch of the cladding tube with which the cladding tube is closed.
- the thickness of such an electrical connection part should be made slightly thinner than the diameter of the wires passed through the regions.
- the gap between the two webs can also be made smaller than the wires, so that there is no possibility that the wires can pass through the gap if the infrared radiator is in an unfavorable position.
- Such a connecting part can be made resilient (spring clip), which then jams on the walls of the cladding tube.
- the infrared radiator has a cladding tube 1 made of quartz glass, which is drawn as an extruded profile.
- the inner cross-section of the cladding tube 1 is divided into two areas 2, 3 by two webs 4, 5 lying opposite one another in the middle.
- the webs 4, 5 have a wall thickness 6 of 1.7 mm, while the distance between the end faces of the webs 4, 5 or the gap 7 formed between these webs 4, 5 has a width of 4 mm.
- Each of these heating conductors 8, 9 is centered in the middle of the areas 2, 3 by means of spacers 10 in the form of metal platelets or support spirals attached to the heating conductors. While at one end of the cladding tube the connection of the two heating conductors 8, 9 takes place via two connecting contacts 11, 12, the heating conductors 8, 9 are electrically connected to one another at the other end of the cladding tube 1.
- the cladding tube 1 is closed at both ends by means of a pinch 13, which are carried out while the cladding tube 1 is heated.
- connection contacts 11, 12 are connected to one another via metal connecting parts 14 in order to adapt this electrical bushing in terms of its thermal expansion to the thermal expansion of the cladding tube 1 made of quartz glass.
- the two heating conductors 8, 9 are direct electrically connected to one another via a wire connecting part 15, this wire connecting part 15 being in contact with an indented region of the cladding tube 1 at which the webs 4, 5 touch.
- This contact point is identified in FIG. 1 by reference number 16.
- an electrical connecting part in the form of a metal plate 17 or wire bracket can be used, which is U-shaped between the webs 4, 5 from one area 2 to the other area 3 of the cladding tube 1 extends.
- the heating conductors 8, 9 are attached to the ends 18 of the metal plate 17.
- This metal plate 17 can also bear against a contact point 16, which is formed by compressing the cladding tube 1 in the region of the webs 4, 5, or can be completely embedded in the pinch 13, which is then extended in accordance with the hatched areas 19.
- the metal plate 17 should likewise consist of molybdenum in order to obtain a thermal expansion corresponding to the envelope tube 1 made of quartz glass.
- the inner diameter 20 of the areas 2, 3 of the cladding tube 1 in the direction of the webs 4, 5 is 10 mm; the inner diameter 21 transverse to the webs 4, 5 is approximately 20 mm.
- Such cladding tubes 1 usually have a reflective layer 22, for example made of gold, on the outside to improve the radiation intensity.

Abstract
