Definitions
- the present invention relates to a rotary pad printing machine for printing extended substrates such as automobile glazing, comprising a plate containing the printing enamel in the desired pattern and a pad roller transferring the enamel from printing of the plate on the substrate and consisting of a cylindrical roll body and a pad mounted on the peripheral surface of the cylindrical roll body.
- the pad mounted on the cylindrical body of the pad roller has the form of a hollow cylinder with a constant wall thickness everywhere.
- the cliché for its part, also has the shape of a roller, the application of the enamel on the cliché roller being effected by the fact that the cliché roller, by being immersed in a tray containing printing enamel, takes printing enamel, the excess enamel being scraped above the tray by means of a doctor blade applied against the surface of the roller.
- the application pressure of the pad roller along the contact line or the strip-shaped contact surface with the substrate to be printed is uniformly high and has a determined minimum value.
- a uniformly high application pressure is all the more difficult to achieve the larger the surface to be printed.
- Document EP 257 103 discloses a printing machine comprising in particular a pad of convex shape and having a continuous surface, mounted on a pad holder. This type of machine is suitable for printing a thin film of uniform thickness on a continuous printing surface. This machine is not suitable for printing a pattern, such as a frame leaving blank printing parts on the substrate, in particular due to the convex shape which does not allow the stamp to be applied with constant pressure on the substrate.
- the object of the invention is to arrange a printing machine with a rotary pad in such a way that it is suitable for printing a decorative frame on flat or curved glazing, up to the edge.
- the pad mounted on the cylindrical roller body of the pad roller has a pad surface corresponding essentially to the printing frame provided on the plate.
- the plate When, for example, a glazing is to be provided on one side with a deposit of enamel in the form of a frame along its perimeter, on the one hand, the plate is provided with a closed loop groove which receives the printing enamel and, on the other hand, on the pad-holding roller is mounted a pad whose shape corresponds to the enamel groove of the plate.
- the invention offers a series of advantages.
- the printing operation can be carried out under a significantly lower application pressure, because the pad only comes into contact with the glazing at the point where an enamel deposit actually takes place.
- the application pressure to be applied is significantly lower than in the case of a pad of known shape, because the strip of pad in question can easily deform in a direction transverse to the strip.
- the glazing up to the edge it is possible to exert a pressure such that the buffer strip deforms and thus partially applies around the edge of the glazing. In this way, it is possible to apply enamel all around the edge or also to print the entire peripheral surface of the glazing.
- another advantage lies in the fact that the risk of smearing of the surfaces of the glass not to be printed is entirely excluded.
- the plate can be a flat screen printing screen, on the underside of which the pad roller takes up printing enamel and on the upper face of which the printing enamel is applied a known way.
- the rotary pad printing machine illustrated in FIG. 1 includes, as essential elements, the plate roller 1 and the pad roller 2, which are driven in synchronism and in opposite directions.
- the two rollers 1 and 2 are mounted together on a chassis 4 pivoting around the axis 3, so that a constant distance is guaranteed between the rollers 1 and 2.
- the jacks 5 ensure that the necessary application pressures are exerted during the printing operation.
- the plate roller 1 plunges into the enamel 7 contained in the enamel tray 8, and is wetted by the enamel 7.
- a groove 9 having the shape of a closed loop.
- the shape of the enamel groove 9 corresponds to that of the frame 10 which must be printed on the glazing 11.
- the surface of the plate roller 1 has the shape of a smooth cylinder. The excess enamel is scraped from the plate roller 1 using the doctor blade 12 which is applied against the surface of this plate roller, so that only the enamel groove 9 is filled with enamel.
- the pad roller 2 is formed of a metal roller body 14 and the pad 15 of a flexible elastomeric material mounted on this roller body 14.
- the outside diameter of the pad 15 corresponds to the outside diameter of the printing roller 1.
- the shape of the pad 15 corresponds to that of the enamel groove 9, but the contact surfaces of the bars 16 of the pad 15 are, advantageously, a little more wider than the enamel grooves 9.
- the pad 15 is oriented on the roller body 14 in such a way that the parts of the pad 15 and of the enamel groove 9 corresponding to each other roll one on the other. the other.
- the surface of the pad 15 coming into contact with the enamel groove 9 transfers the enamel of the groove 9 onto the glazing 11 which is moved in the direction of the arrow F relative to the printing machine.
- the stamp 15, the external contact surface of which is adapted to the desired printing pattern, has, as a whole, the shape of a hollow cylindrical body, on the external surface of which the desired shape of the stamp is shaped.
- the height H of the bars 16 of the pad 15, the outer surface of which in the shape of a cylinder segment performs the actual printing operation, is essentially a function of the properties of the material used for the pad 15 and, in the case where a glazing unit curved must be printed, it depends, if necessary, on the degree of curving of the glazing to be printed.
- the height H of the bars 16 of the pad 15 can therefore vary between wide limits.
- Another roller 18 is also rotatably mounted on the frame 4, behind the pad roller 2.
- the surface of this roller 18 is provided with a sleeve 19 made of an absorbent material, in particular absorbent paper.
- the surface of the roller 18 is in frictional contact with the pad 15 of the pad holder roller and is rotated by the latter. Thanks to absorbent sleeve 19, the enamel residues, which after printing have remained on the printing surface of the pad 15, are removed, so that they are not annoying during the next printing operation.
- Fig. 2 is a schematic view of a rotary pad printing machine, in which a screen printing screen is used as a plate.
- the pad roller 20 is again provided on its cylindrical surface with a pad 15 which consists of a bar 16 in relief in the form of a frame closed on it - even or which includes such a bar 16.
- the pad roller 20 is rotatably mounted in a support 21 which, as such, is rigidly fixed to the frame 22 of the machine.
- the glazing 11 to be printed is placed on a carriage 23 which can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the machine, by means of sliding bearings 24, on slides 25.
- the plate is the screen screen 27 which is stretched in the usual manner in a metal frame 28.
- the screen screen 27 also contains in the usual way the pattern to be printed 29, formed by the fact that the areas of the screen screen fabric corresponding to the pattern 29 to be printed remain open, while the rest of the fabric is plugged with a suitable coating.
- the metal frame 28 can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the machine, by means of sliding bearings 30, on slides 31.
- the deposition of the enamel is carried out in the same usual manner on the screen printing screen 27 and the printing enamel is transferred, using the doctor blade 32, inside the print pattern 29, through the serigraphic fabric, on the pad 15.
- another roller 18 comprising a sleeve 19 is mounted for free rotation on the support 21, and has the task of removing the enamel residues possibly remaining on the surface of printing of the buffer 15 after the printing operation.
- the machine naturally includes the drive devices necessary for the buffer rollers 20, the carriage 23 and the metal frame 28 carrying the screen screen 27, as well as the corresponding control devices.
- the drawing illustrates a position of the frame 28 carrying the screen printing screen, the pad-carrying roller 20 and the carriage 23 carrying the glazing 11 at a time when the machine has already started its work cycle.
- the carriage 23 still occupies its starting position.
- the frame 28 with the screen printing screen 27 is already moving in the direction of the arrow F1.
- the pad roller 20 has also started its rotational movement.
- the printing surface of the bars 16 of the pad 15 is in contact with the underside of the screen printing screen 27 and rolls, in a synchronous movement with the screen printing screen, on the pattern to be printed 29.
- the doctor blade 32 which, relative to at the contact line between the pad 15 and the screen screen, is arranged above the screen screen and acts on it, pushes the printing enamel through the screen fabric on the printing surface of the pad 15 which, in this way, receives the printing enamel according to the desired pattern to be printed and according to the necessary layer thickness, from the screen printing screen.
- the rotary pad printing machine shown essentially in FIG. 3 differs from the embodiment described last by the the screen screen 35 is fixedly mounted on the frame 37 of the machine, and the pad roller 20 is mounted movable.
- the carriage 38 is slidably mounted by sliding bearings 39 on runners 40, but it is only removed from the printing area for the purpose of installing the glazing 41 or removing the printed glazing. .
- the carriage 38 remains immobilized with the glazing unit 41 in the working position shown.
- the pad roller 20 with the pad 15 having the shape of the bar 16 is in this case mounted movable in the longitudinal direction of the machine, by the fact that the support 43 is provided with sliding pads 44, which slide on slides 45.
- the support 43 is mounted movable in height in a base 47 supported by the sliding pads 44, in such a way that the pad 15 mounted on the pad roller 20 is applied, in its position d 'upper end, against the lower surface of the screen printing screen 35 and, in its lower end position, against the surface of the glazing 41.
- the doctor blade 48 is pivotally mounted about the axis 49, on the support 43 carrying the pad-carrying roller, above the screen-printing screen 35. The pivoting takes place by means of the lever 50 and the rod 51 during the movement of the support 43 upwards and downwards.
- the pad roller 20 is initially moved in the direction of arrow F3, it being understood that it is in its upper end position. During this movement, the printing surface of the pad 15 takes up printing enamel from the screen printing screen 35, the doctor blade 48 then being in its lowered position and the printing enamel being transferred to the pad 15 through the uncoated surface of the screen printing fabric.
- the support 43 and the pad roller 20 are lowered. Simultaneously, the doctor blade 48 pivots upwards. The pad roller is then moved in the opposite direction, that is to say in the direction of the arrow F4. During this movement, the printing enamel is transferred to the glazing 41.
Description
- la Fig. 1 est une vue en perspective d'une machine à imprimer au tampon rotatif comprenant un rouleau porte-cliché;
- la Fig. 2 est une vue en perspective d'une première forme d'exécution d'une machine à imprimer au tampon rotatif comportant un écran sérigraphique en tant que cliché;
- la Fig. 2a est une vue en section transversale du dispositif de la Fig. 2;
