Definitions
- the invention relates to a flat cuff for edge gear on window or door sash.
- the known, for example, 16 mm wide flat gauntlets consist of a 2 to 3 mm thick sheet steel strip into which screw holes for receiving countersunk screws and elongated holes for the passage of pins, bolts, slide handles or the like are incorporated.
- These known flat gauntlets are inserted and screwed into a faceplate groove of the wing profile during the assembly of an edge gear. They hold and guide the parts of the edge gear and cover them.
- the known flat gauntlets are relatively heavy and must have a width which, on the one hand, enables effortless insertion into the faceplate groove, but on the other hand avoids gaps between the edges of the flat faceplate and the side walls of the faceplate groove. Furthermore, the known flat gauntlets made of sheet steel are galvanized and chromated or bichromated in order to protect them against corrosion and rust. In the areas of wear, this surface protection is impaired relatively quickly and after a short period of use, so that completely reliable protection against rust is not guaranteed.
- the invention has for its object to provide a flat cuff that is reliably protected against corrosion and rust and inexpensive to manufacture and that is light despite high resilience and easy and clean installation even with greater inaccuracies between the width of the faceplate and the flat cuff to be used therein the edge gear allows.
- the flat cuff consists of a 0.6 to 1 mm thick sheet metal strip made of stainless steel and the two side edges from a central base part first upwards, each forming a web wall, and then outwards, each forming an overlap edge , are angled.
- the web walls can spring against each other, they can adapt to different widths of the faceplate grooves within certain limits.
- the overlapping edges cover the gaps that may occur between the side walls of the faceplate grooves and the web walls of the flat cuff. In particular, these overlapping edges cover the unclean edges that often arise when the recesses for the lock or bolt box are milled out.
- the flat cuff is made of stainless chrome steel, chrome nickel steel sheet or a corresponding stainless steel, so that rusting or corroding is not to be feared even at wear points. Despite the higher material costs, the flat cuff can be manufactured inexpensively because there is no need for post-treatment.
- 1 to 3 consist of a sheet metal strip made of stainless steel, in particular stainless chromium steel, chromium-nickel steel or 18% chromium / 8% nickel steel.
- the thickness of the sheet steel strip is 0.6 to 1 mm.
- the side edges of the base part 1 are angled upwards to form web walls 2 at an angle ⁇ of greater than 90 ° and less than 120 ° and then angled outwards to form overlapping edges 3 or 3 ′ or 3 ⁇ or turned.
- overlapping edges 3 are angled substantially parallel to the base part 1.
- the overlapping edges 3 ' are angled so that they are inclined from the outside inwards and form a lower edge 4, which when inserting the flat cuff into a corresponding face groove 6 of a window sash or door sash profile 5 is placed on the edge surface.
- the faceplate and the associated flat cuff are dimensioned so that when you tighten the fastening screws of the flat cuff, the overlapping edges 3,3 ', 3 ⁇ or their lower edge 4 come with bias to the system.
- the web walls 2 spring somewhat inwards.
- the overlapping edges 3r can also be bent outwards by a radius of 2 to 4 mm.
- the profiles of the flat gauntlets shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 are produced by cold rolling a sheet metal strip made of stainless steel. As a result, the edges at the bends are not rounded, but rounded.
- the upper outer edges 13 are expediently also chamfered or rounded during cold rolling.
- FIG. 1 to 5 show the flat cuff enlarged by about 3 times.
- Fig. 6 shows a 16mm flat cuff in natural size.
- the width and depth of a conventional faceplate groove 6 for a 16 mm flat cuff is approximately 16.5 mm and 3 mm.
- the dimensions of a matching flat cuff according to the invention are: Overall width : 19 - 21 mm, Width of the base part : 13 - 15 mm, Width of the overlap margins : 2 - 3 mm, Slope of the web walls to the base part : 100 ° - 115 ° Distance of the underside of the overlapping edges from the underside of the base part : 2.5 - 2.9 mm
- the flat cuff according to the invention can also be designed in other sizes, for example as a 10 mm flat cuff or 20 mm flat cuff, depending on which edge gear is used.
- the elongated hole for the passage of a pin or fastening rivet 9 of a roller pin 8 fastened to the gear rod 7 is surrounded by a collar 10 which is pressed out of the sheet metal strip.
- Fig. 5 shows that the screw holes 12 are surrounded by an embossed annular bead 11 which receives the retractable head of the fastening screw and stiffens the area around the screw hole 12.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 4 Schnittansicht einer Flachstulpe gemäß Fig. 2 im Bereich eines Zapfens,
- Fig. 5 Schnittansicht einer Flachstulpe gemäß Fig. 3 im Bereich eines Schraubenloches,
