Definitions
- the invention relates to a pin-shaped contact element for fastening in printed circuit board bores, preferably in metallized printed circuit board bores, with a fastening section which has two mutually movable, parallel side parts, the side parts being connected to one another by an elastically or resiliently deformable connecting web and, viewed in the direction of insertion, before Fastening section a gradually tapering insertion area is provided.
- Such contact elements are preferably provided for being pressed into metallized printed circuit boards, the edges of the side parts being connected in intimate contact with the bore metallization after being pressed in. It must be ensured that the contact element is pressed into the circuit board bore as gently as possible, that is, the bore metallization there is not excessively stressed locally.
- Such a contact element is known for example from EP-A-0 089 491, it also being known to gradually taper the insertion area in order to achieve a gentle, uniform pressing of the contact element into the bore.
- the insertion area has a relatively high degree of rigidity, so that when a contact element designed in this way is pressed in, the printed circuit board bore / metallization on the Sitft insertion side is greatly expanded and is often accompanied by a tearing open of the metallization. It can even happen that, depending on the tolerance position of the pins and the printed circuit board bore, the "metallization sleeve" tears off the connecting conductor track and a perfect contact is no longer guaranteed.
- the present invention is based on the object of making the insertion area much more elastic in a contact element of the type mentioned at the outset, so that damage / excessive deformation of the printed circuit board metallization when pressing in the contact element is avoided with certainty, but the contacting properties / contact forces in the area of the fastening section are fully and should be maintained entirely, and that scraping and pushing out tin particles of the usually provided tin layer of the bore metallization is also avoided.
- the contact element essentially consists of a fastening section 2, which is followed by an insertion area 4 which tapers gently towards the lower pin end 3.
- the lower end of the pin is designed as a square post for the so-called wire wrap technique.
- the attachment section is followed by an enlarged extension 6 formed with support shoulders 5 for a press-in tool or as a fastening part in an insulating body, which in turn is followed by a contact area, not shown here, which can be designed as a knife or spring contact .
- FIG. 1 As shown in FIG.
- the fastening section 2 is provided with two outer, parallel side parts 7, which are connected to one another via a wave-shaped, spring-elastic connecting web 8.
- a wave-shaped, spring-elastic connecting web 8 When pressed into a circuit board bore, not shown here, with a smaller diameter than the diameter of the circumference 9, the side parts are moved towards one another and the connecting web is resiliently deformed, the outer edges 10 of the side parts being pressed firmly against the bore wall (metallization).
- the effective length of the fastening section is marked with L in FIG. 1.
- a tapered area 4 is provided in the direction of insertion of the contact element in front of the fastening section, which causes the contact element to be gently immersed and pressed into the circuit board bore.
- the cross section of this area is shown in FIG. 4.
- the connecting web / side parts also run out, i.e. the approximately H-shaped cross section of the fastening section merges into the square cross section of the pin end.
- an opening 11 / an opening is provided here, which extends transversely to the connecting web, interrupting it.
- This opening is advantageously designed as an elongated hole which extends over the entire length of the insertion region.
- the width of the opening or the elongated hole is dimensioned so that the opposite side parts of this area can come into mutual contact with the contact element and the deformation of the insertion area that occurs at most with a minimum diameter of the circuit board bore.

Description
- Fig. 1
- die Ansicht eines Kontaktelementes,
- Fig. 2
- die geschnittene Ansicht des Kontaktelementes gem. Fig. 1 entlang der Linie 2-2,
- Fig. 3
- Fig. 4
Fig. 1 entlang der Linie 4-4 in vergrößerter Darstellung.
