Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for packaging compressible objects, in particular stacks of paper handkerchiefs, into a blank made of plastic film or the like, the object being first compressed and then taking the blank which lies around the object in a U-shape is inserted into a pocket of a revolving folding revolver.
  • the invention further relates to a device for packaging such objects.
  • a cyclically driven rotating unit has pockets arranged on the periphery for receiving stacks. The latter are first compressed in the area of an insertion station and then, when the unit is at a standstill, inserted into the pockets of the unit. The cyclical operation of the unit limits the performance of the device.
  • the invention is based on the object of proposing a method and a device for packaging stacks of paper handkerchiefs in particular, by means of which or by means of which precisely shaped cuboid packs can be produced with a considerably increased performance of the packaging machine.
  • the device according to the invention is characterized in that the folding turret is continuously rotating and an insertion platform and a pressing element corresponding thereto can be moved back and forth in the circumferential direction of the folding turret.
  • the incoming batches of paper handkerchiefs are pressed together and inserted in this shape into the pocket of a revolving folding revolver, while at the same time taking along a U-shaped blank made of plastic film or the like.
  • the pockets of the folding turret are expediently dimensioned somewhat larger (width in the circumferential direction of the folding turret) than the compressed stack. This makes it easier to insert the stack while taking the blank with it.
  • the stack remains under tension in the pocket, i.e. compressed.
  • the folding tabs of the blank that protrude on the radially outer side and on the axial sides are folded and thermally sealed.
  • the almost finished packs pushed out of the pockets of the folding revolver have a very exact cuboid shape.
  • the folding turret is assigned a stacking arm that can be moved up and down in the direction of rotation, onto which the objects to be packaged - stack of paper handkerchiefs - are pushed during a momentary standstill in the movement end position, accelerated to the peripheral speed of the folding turret and then into an adjacent pocket be inserted.
  • a press rocker works together with the stacking rocker and, after a stack has been pushed onto an insertion platform, compresses the stack, that is to say the object to be packed, from above.
  • This process takes place during the acceleration of the stack to the circumferential speed of the folding turret, so that when the folding turret or pocket is currently synchronized with the insertion platform of the stacking rocker, insertion into the pocket can take place in the radial direction.
  • a pusher station of the folding turret is assigned an ejecting platform that can also be swung back and forth or up and down, which picks up the pack pushed out of the pocket of the folding turret when it is temporarily synchronized with the folding turret and transfers it to a conveyor during a standstill phase.
  • a considerable increase in performance of the device according to the invention is brought about by two-track operation. Accordingly, two packs are produced simultaneously on two adjacent webs.
  • a single, common folding turret with appropriate dimensions in the axial direction is used with continuous pockets for receiving two adjacent packs as well as with correspondingly sized common organs, such as a package swing arm, compression swing arm, push-in unit, ejector and extension platform.
  • Further features of the invention relate to the configuration of the folding turret and the organs for feeding and removing the items to be packaged Items and packages.
  • the device shown as an exemplary embodiment in the drawings is used for packaging stacks 10 of paper handkerchiefs. These are folded one on top of the other, a stack 10 usually consisting of ten paper handkerchiefs. The stack 10 is encased in a blank 11 made of a thin plastic film.
  • the central unit of the device is a folding turret 12, which is driven to rotate at a continuous speed, in the illustration according to FIG. 1 in a clockwise direction.
  • the folding turret 12 has a plurality of pockets 13 arranged distributed along the circumference, in which the objects to be packaged - individually or in pairs - are received with a blank 11.
  • the pockets 13 are open on the radially outer side and at the axial ends.
  • the stacks 10 are fed to the folding turret 12 in the region of an insertion station 14.
  • a feed conveyor 15, which extends in a horizontal plane, namely in the central plane with respect to the folding turret 12, leads to this.
  • This is designed as a chain conveyor.
  • Carriers 16 are attached to two chains 17, 18 running side by side.
  • the stack 10 to be transported lies on a conveyor plate 19 in a sliding manner.
  • the chains 17, 18 are arranged offset in the region of their deflection in such a way that the drivers 16 connected to each chain 17, 18 are moved parallel downwards, that is to say without pivoting. As a result, the supplied stacks 10 can be placed exactly at one end position without shifting the individual layers.
  • the stacks 10 are conveyed by the feed conveyor 15 except for a slide-in platform 20 which is provided adjacent to the circumference of the folding turret 12. This is arranged on the end of a rocker which is moved back and forth about the center of rotation of the folding turret 12, namely in the vertical plane, namely a stacking rocker 21.
  • the stacking rocker 21 is pivotally mounted coaxially to the folding turret 12, the end projecting beyond the folding turret 12 forms the insertion platform 20.
  • the stacking arm 21 can be moved with the insertion platform from a lower starting position (solid lines in FIG. 1) to an upper reversing position (dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1). In the lower starting position, the insertion platform 20 extends essentially as an extension of the feed conveyor 15. During a current standstill phase, the stack 10 is placed on the insertion platform 20 by the synchronously controlled feed conveyor 15.
  • a pressing member comes into effect, namely a pressing plate 22 which is lowered onto the stack 10 from above and compresses it considerably.
  • the stack 10 is moved by the stacking rocker 21 in the direction of rotation of the folding turret, with the pressing plate 22 being carried along.
  • the stack 10 is compressed in the radial direction by an insert 23 into the one rotating in the same plane Pocket 13 of the folding turret 12 inserted.
  • the dimension of the pocket 13 in the circumferential direction corresponds to the size of the pack 24 to be produced.
  • the stack 10 is expediently compressed somewhat more than the circumferential dimension of the pocket 13, so that insertion is facilitated.
  • the press plate 22 is attached to the underside of a press rocker 25 which can be moved synchronously with the stacking rocker 21. Like the stacking rocker 21, this can be pivoted about the center of rotation of the folding turret 12.
  • the press rocker 25 is moved with the stack rocker 21 while maintaining the press position in the direction of rotation of the folding turret 12. After inserting the compressed stack 10 into the pocket, the press rocker 25 with the stack rocker 21 returns to the starting position, but initially at a greater distance therefrom, so that the stack 10 not compressed can be conveyed freely onto the insertion platform 20.
  • the pusher 23 is relatively movably connected to the press rocker 25. This is provided outside the area of the folding turret 12 with an elongated hole 26, in which a guide roller 27 connected to the insert 23 can be moved to and fro.
  • the guide roller 27 sits on one Handlebar 28 with which the slider 23 is moved back and forth.
  • the handlebar 28 is in turn connected to a crank arm 29 which is pivotable about the axis of rotation of the folding turret 12.
  • a movement of the link 28 causes a linear displacement of the pusher 23 while pushing the stack 10 into a pocket 13.
  • the pusher 23 is hook-shaped so that the stack 10 can be gripped on the outside.
  • the stacks 10 are each pushed into the pockets 13 with the blank 11 held ready in the insertion station 14.
  • the blanks 11 are brought to the circumference of the folding turret 12 via a deflection roller 30.
  • This is provided with a plurality of suction bores 31, 32 opening on the peripheral surface.
  • the arrangement of the same is such that two suction bores 32 or groups of suction bores 32 are arranged on either side of a pocket 13.
  • each blank is fixed at its front and rear edges in the conveying direction and on both sides of the pocket 13 by suction air.
  • the suction bores 31, 32 are connected to a vacuum source via a suction segment 33 and a radial suction line 34.
  • the suction segment 33 extends in the circumferential direction into an area following the insertion station 14. This is followed by a blowing air segment 35, which conducts air through the suction bores 31, 32 over a partial distance via a compressed air line 36.
  • a blowing air segment 35 which conducts air through the suction bores 31, 32 over a partial distance via a compressed air line 36.
  • an air flow which stabilizes the radial position of tubular flaps 37 and 38 is generated in particular by the suction bores 32 arranged directly on both sides of the pocket 13.
  • These tubular flaps 37, 38 which protrude from the outside or protrude from the pocket after inserting the stack 10 with the U-shaped blank 11 into the pocket 13 are now folded, namely first the tubular flap 37 rearward in the conveying direction by a pivotable folder 39, which folds the tubular tab 37 from the rear against the outer side surface of the stack 10.
  • a sealing unit 40 This consists of an endless revolving cover band 41 made of heat-resistant material, in particular a textile Teflon band, which moves at the speed of the folding turret 12.
  • the cover band 41 is guided over two deflection rollers 42, 43 which are arranged at a greater distance from one another and are arranged directly adjacent to the circumference of the folding turret 12.
  • a third deflection roller 44 is assigned to the rear, outer run of the cover band 41. Due to the relative position of the deflecting rollers 42, 43, a conveying or moving conveying strand nestles against the peripheral surface of the folding turret 12.
  • a heating element On the outside of the conveyor run 45 there is a heating element, namely an arc-shaped heating segment 46. This is arc-shaped concentrically to the folding turret 12, but is arranged so that it has no constant contact with the cover band 41 or its conveyor run 45.
  • the tubular flap 38 lying forward in the conveying direction is folded over against the outer side surface with partial overlap with the tubular flap 37.
  • the stack 10 with blank 11 arrives in the area of the heating segment 46. It is important that, due to the dimensions chosen accordingly, the stack 10 including the folded blank 11 protrudes slightly in the radial direction from the pocket 13, that is to say it projects beyond the circumferential surface of the folding turret 12.
  • the cover band 41 or its conveying strand 45 is raised slightly in the area of a pocket 13 by the stack 10, namely until it comes into contact with the heating segment 46.
  • the heating segment 46 extends over a region of the folding turret 12 corresponding to the distance between three successive pockets 13, sufficient to carry out a stable sealing.
  • the heating segment 46 is radially adjustable by means not shown in detail, namely, can be moved back out of the heating position if no packs are supplied during an interruption in operation or if the folding turret 12 is temporarily stationary.
  • an extension platform 48 is arranged adjacent to the outer circumference of the folding turret 12. This is moved back and forth or up and down corresponding to the insertion platform 20 in the circumferential direction of the folding turret 12. The largely completed package 24 is pushed out of the pocket and pushed onto the extension platform 48 during a phase of identical movement of the folding turret 12 and extension platform 48. Thereafter, the extension platform 48 returns to an (upper) end position which is rectified to a discharge conveyor 49 in the horizontal median plane.
  • the extension platform 48 is connected to the stacking rocker 21, which is extended beyond the axis of rotation of the folding turret 12 and, opposite the insertion platform 20, receives the extension platform 48 at the free end.
  • the movements of the insertion platform 20 and the extension platform 48 are always corresponding.
  • the relative arrangement is such that the insertion platform 20 is moved upwards after picking up a stack 10 and at the same time the extension platform 48 is moved downwards for acceleration to the peripheral speed of the folding turret 12.
  • the transfer of the package 24 to the delivery platform 48 therefore takes place below the level of the removal conveyor 49.
  • the delivery platform 48 with the package is moved up to the level of the removal conveyor 49 and during a phase of instantaneous standstill by a hook-shaped one
  • the pusher is pulled off the extension platform 48 in the radial direction and transferred to the discharge conveyor 49.
  • Each pocket 13 is assigned its own pusher 51. This is in the retracted starting position on the radial inside of the pocket 13 and thus forms the bottom thereof.
  • the pusher 51 is designed as a bar which extends in the axial direction over the entire length of the pocket 13.
  • folding thumbs 52, 53 are arranged laterally in the radial direction on the slide-out element 51. The axial spacing of the folding thumbs 52, 53 from one another corresponds to the length of the stack 10 or the pack 24.
