Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for producing a patterned flocked web with a textile-like appearance, a partial adhesive layer being applied to a carrier web using the screen printing process and then a flock layer.
  • a method for surface modification of flocked textile products is known.
  • adhesive is applied to the recesses of the doctor roller on the textile carrier material by means of a doctor roller, which has a negative relief-like surface pattern, so that the flock only adheres to these locations when flocked.
  • GB-PS 11 80 219 a process for the production of flocked web material is described.
  • the carrier web which consists in particular of unvulcanized rubber, is guided into the gap between an embossing roller and an application roller, so that the adhesive is only applied to certain locations on the web, to which the flock applied later adheres.
  • DE-OS 27 08 842 relates to a method for the colored design of flocked objects by flocking an object partially coated with an adhesive and then printing the flock with a printing device.
  • a disadvantage of the methods mentioned is that, on the one hand, the use of embossing rollers for the adhesive application of the adhesive partially but over a wide area to the carrier web, which results in a washed-out flock pattern with an indistinct embossing effect during the subsequent flocking, and on the other hand, by the subsequent printing of the Flocks an additional operation is required, which also does not completely rule out that printing ink also gets on the flock-free areas of the carrier web and no overall aesthetic impression is achieved.
  • FR-A-7003556 describes a method for producing a reinforced wall covering.
  • the carrier and a textile grid are glued together and then flocked with textile fibers. These fibers adhere to the support through the grid.
  • DE-A-2201941 on which the preamble of claim 1 is based, describes a method for producing three-dimensional imitations of natural planar landscape features.
  • the carrier material delivered in individual sheets is provided with an adhesive which, according to one embodiment, has been applied using the screen printing method, then flocked and the excess flock removed after drying.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a process for the production of a patterned flocked web with a textile-like colored pattern design without additional embossing, which is continuous and easy to carry out and when using plastic-coated and flocked plastic webs, these webs are perfectly weldable with each other.
  • the method according to the invention described at the outset is characterized in that the carrier web is a pigmented or monochrome or multicolor plastic film, preferably printed by gravure printing, with a thickness of 180 to 350 ⁇ m, preferably 200 to 250 ⁇ m and a Shore-D Hardness of 30 to 50, preferably 33 to 45 or a single or multi-color, preferably rotary screen printing, printed plastic fleece or plastic fiber fleece with a surface weight of 60 to 150 g / m 2 , preferably 80 to 100 g / m 2 , which uses a - or multi-colored flock (e) in coordination with the color of the printed pattern (b) of the printed carrier web and / or color of the pigmented carrier web to achieve an overall color contrast to that with an adhesive made of blowing agent-free or blowing agent-containing PVC plastisol in a known screen printing process coated carrier web applied to the carrier web to the with Kle Excess flock layer located over coated areas is removed before the adhesive hardens, the adhesive layer is
  • the process according to the invention is carried out in such a way that on a single-color or multi-color, preferably gravure-printed, plastic film with a thickness of 180 to 350 pm, preferably 200 to 250 pm and a Shore D hardness of 30 to 50, preferably 33 up to 45 as a carrier web with the help of the screen printing device, the adhesive is applied at very specific points.
  • the adhesive is applied in the form of one or more solid or broken lines or curves, in the form of grids or in other geometric patterns. Since there is no full application of the adhesive as with a web flocked for embossing, the subsequent flock application results in a clear pattern-like pattern.
  • the excess flock material is preferably electrostatically removed before the adhesive hardens, the adhesive layer is cured and then that on the adhesive-free areas of the Plastic film surface still existing flock layer removed electrostatically or by suction. In the two process steps mentioned above, the excess flock material recovered, so that a total saving of flock material is achieved.
  • the carrier web obtained has a textile-like appearance with a decorative pattern which has the appearance of a finely structured, embossed flock surface, but without the need for additional embossing.
  • An additional decorative effect can be achieved by coating the printed plastic film with a clear or matt varnish made of a vinyl chloride copolymer or a polyurethane before applying the adhesive.
  • the plastic film preferably consists of an olefin homopolymer or copolymer, such as polyethylene, polypropylene.
  • the backing sheet is provided on its rear side with a self-adhesive layer and an attached, removable paper sheet, so that a ready-to-use, self-adhesive patterned flocked sheet is obtained.
  • the flocked webs obtained by the process according to the invention serve inter alia. as upholstery fabrics in the manufacture of suitcases, folders, cases, as wall claddings and interior claddings for motor vehicles
  • an adhesive consisting of a PVC plastisol, partially and only, is applied using a device as used in the gravure printing process applied in such an amount and in such a viscosity that the partial application of adhesive cannot flow on the carrier web.
  • the flock material made of colored polyamide with 1.7 dtex and an average fiber length of 0.7 mm is applied with the aid of a flock application device known per se.
  • the excess flock layer on the carrier web is removed electrostatically, the adhesive layer is cured at a temperature of 170 ° C.
  • a patterned flocked web is obtained which has the appearance of a finely embossed textile-like surface.
