Definitions
- the invention relates to a valve, in particular an intake or exhaust valve on an internal combustion engine or on its working cylinder.
- the heat in the valve disc is released into the water or air via the truncated cone valve seat during the closing time derived from the cooled cylinder head.
- This heat dissipation is not particularly great, ie the valve body in particular is at risk of heat, or such a valve cannot be subjected to high thermal loads.
- very high acceleration forces occur when the rocker arm or the like strikes the valve stem when the valve is opened and also when the valve plate hits the valve seat when the valve closes. This results in high mechanical loads on the valve and considerable noise.
- the object of the invention is to provide a valve in which the play mentioned can be reduced or eliminated and even greater heat resistance can be achieved and the flow problems mentioned can usually also be at least partially solved.
- the low coefficient of thermal expansion of the ceramic material - in particular silicon carbide SiC or silicon nitride Si 3 N 4 - allows tight fit dimensions, which ensures that the valve seals well even at high temperatures. Furthermore, there are no frustoconical seats here, so that it is easy to carry out to let the fluid flow out of the valve into the combustion chamber in more favorable, freely chosen directions. Furthermore, the valve body can easily be designed in such a way that as little eddy formation as possible occurs in the inflowing or outflowing fluid, for example it can be bulged into the combustion chamber in a flow-favorable manner. Despite such an enlargement, the valve body thus not thermally overloaded due to the greater heat absorption, because it is made of ceramic material.
- the characterizing part of claim 2 ensures that the valve body, in the case of the valve stem, which is usually somewhat distant from it, in any case runs perfectly into the mating surface or the fixed cylindrical sealing surface. According to claim 3, a very simple valve type results. Relatively little turbulence occurs on the valve in the case of the bulbous valve body mentioned in claim 4, which is bulged into the combustion chamber. When the valve is open, the fluid flows around the valve body in the case of claim 3 or 4, and through the cylinder body in the case of claim 5. There is the possibility of defining the inflow and outflow directions in different ways on hollow cylinder bodies. Opening arrangements for this are specified in particular in claims 6 and 7.
- the hollow cylinder body of the intake or exhaust valve can also have a single, for example large opening on its end on the combustion chamber side and, on the other side of the wall, the closing opening or openings on its periphery. It can be advantageous to arrange the openings on the circumference of the cylinder body evenly distributed over 360 °.
- inlet valve one proceeds in particular when a rotational movement of the fluid, a swirl flow, is desired. This has the relatively lighter combustion gases on the inside, while on the outside it has relatively cool air that does not participate in the combustion, which results in a heat-proof engine. If one proceeds according to claim 8, the combustion chamber is sealed even better.
- the design according to claim 9 serves to reduce the weight of the valve body.
- valve ring or the valve tube according to claim 10 is preferably made of ceramic material. He or she is stuck in the cylinder head.
- valve body or this and the or the other part consists or consist in particular of silicon carbide SiC or or silicon nitride Si 3 N 4 , but can also consist of oxide ceramics such as aluminum oxide A1 2 0 3 or magnesium oxide Mg0.
- the outer diameter of the valve stem is at least in the cases of claims 3 and 4 smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical sealing surfaces.
- valves according to claims 3 and 4 and valves with a similar valve body are in particular of the type that their flow cross-section is located within the combustion chamber or the interior of the working cylinder of the internal combustion engine.
- these valves can also be of the type that their flow cross-section is outside the combustion chamber or this interior.
- the valve according to the invention can be an intake valve, but also an exhaust valve, in particular on an internal combustion engine.
- the invention is generally applicable to internal combustion engines with a linearly reciprocating working piston, particularly in diesel and gasoline engines.
- valve according to the invention can also e.g. be provided on or in a container, a pipe or another thermal engine or machine, for example as a bypass valve in a turbocharger.
- the valve body is made of ceramic material according to claims 1 to 11.
- patent protection is also sought in the context of this application for valves according to claims 1 to 10 in the event that of the two parts mentioned, the valve body is made of a different material, in particular metal, and the other feature (the two mutual sealing surfaces are cylindrical) ) of claim 1 and the characteristics of claims 2 to 10 are retained in full.
- the cylinder axis 10 of the cylindrical sealing surfaces runs in the to-and-fro directions of movement - see the double arrow 11 - of the valve body, which together with a valve stem 12 (shown broken off) consists of one piece and of ceramic material and represents this unit as a revolution body .
- the ceramic valve body is a valve disk 13.
- This has the cylindrical sealing surface 14 on the outside. This is due to the cylindrical sealing surface 15, which is provided on a valve ring 16.
- the valve plate 13 has on its sealing surface 14 in the direction of the cylinder axis 10 successive labyrinth sealing grooves 17.
- the valve ring 16 is, at least in the case of an exhaust valve, also made of ceramic material, is seated in a recess 19 of a cylinder head 20 which begins at the combustion chamber 18 and can be made of ceramic material, and forms an opening 21 of the valve on the combustion chamber side.
- a valve tube 22 can be used, which is inserted in the cylinder head 20 and also begins at the combustion chamber 18.
- the valve ring 16 or the valve tube 22 has an inlet surface 23 which adjoins its cylindrical sealing surface 15, widens conically to the combustion chamber 18 and ends at the combustion chamber 18 with the opening 21.
- the ceramic valve body 24 according to FIG. 2 is a bulbous body with an annular, relative to its largest diameter and its length axially short cylindrical sealing surface 25 in the area of this diameter.
- the fixed cylindrical sealing surface 26 is formed by the cylinder head 20. This has the inlet surface 23.
- the valve body 24 has a spherical cavity 27 on the inside to save weight. Due to its bulbous shape, the valve body 24 has a streamlined bulge 28 into the combustion chamber 18. The bulge 28 is particularly streamlined because it is formed tapering into the combustion chamber 18. The opposite bulge 29 and the feature that it tapers into the valve stem 12 are also very streamlined.
- the valve body 24 can also be referred to as a drop-shaped body.
- valve body 13 or 24 is moved into the combustion chamber 18 to open the valve.
- the hollow ceramic cylinder body 30 has a coaxial, cylindrical interior 31 through which the fluid of the valve can flow and two peripheral wall openings or openings 32 and 33 for the entry and exit or exit and entry of the fluid in question.
- the cylinder body 30 is sealingly guided in a bore in a wall 34.
- the bore surface is the fixed cylindrical sealing surface 36, and the other sealing surface 35 is located on the circumference of the cylinder body 30.
- the openings 32 and 33 are arranged offset from one another by 180 °. They can also be arranged at a smaller angle or not offset from one another.
- the openings 32 and 33, angularly offset from one another or not, are arranged at such an axial distance from one another that they are both fully open in the fully open position (FIG.
- valves ie are located axially outside of the wall 34, the openings 32 on the one side of the wall 34, the openings 33 on the other side of the wall 34.
- the opening 33 In the fully closed position (FIG. 3) of the valve, the opening 33 is fully in the bore (36).
- the inflow and outflow of the fluid take place approximately perpendicular to the cylinder axis 10.
- a swirl flow in the combustion chamber 18 is possible with such an opening 33 provided in the peripheral wall of the cylinder body 30 for the exit of the fluid.
- axially parallel openings 38 can be provided in the end wall 37 of the cylinder body 30 located at the valve stem 12.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 zeigt ein voll geschlossenes Tellerventil;
- Fig. 2 zeigt ein voll geschlossenes Ventil mit knollenförmig ausgebildetem Ventilkörper;
