Definitions

  • the invention relates to a warning device with a central display of operating states to be monitored in motor vehicles, with a display device which can be controlled by an operating monitoring device.
  • the known warning device includes a central warning lamp that flashes or burns continuously depending on the importance of the critical operating state that occurs, and a group of individual lamps that are each assigned to an operating state that is to be monitored and that also emerge depending on the urgency when such a critical operating state occurs the display flashes or burns continuously.
  • the warning device includes an operational monitoring device in which the information to be displayed is classified according to its urgency or according to the priority of the display and, if necessary, with a desired signal delay to indicate the drop in certain liquid levels, such as brake fluid, cooling water level and windshield washer water level.
  • the operation monitoring device also performs certain functions, for example to measure the engine oil level only when it is at a standstill.
  • the classification is carried out according to the prior art, for example, in such a way that the group of the most important priority includes the oil pressure, the oil level, brake circuit failure and brake fluid, while in a second group information about the brake pad, the hand brake, the cooling water level, the The temperature of the cooling water, the fuel reserve, the windscreen washer fluid level, the brake light and the tail light are all arranged.
  • the known warning device includes an acknowledgment button which is connected to the operation monitoring device and is arranged, for example, in the console of the motor vehicle and with which a warning about a critical operating state that is displayed can be acknowledged.
  • the blinking of the central warning light is converted into a continuous burning or the continuous burning of the warning light is switched off when a low priority fault occurs.
  • the individual lights which are assigned to the faulty operating states to be displayed continue to flash, and the individual lights which are assigned to the faulty operating states of the lower priority continue to burn, the memories fed with signals from the operating monitoring device taking effect. Examples of similar warning devices are known from FR-A-1539197, DE-B-2 338 944 and FR-A-1 539 197.
  • a problem of this warning device with a central display of the operating states to be monitored, which allow the control of important operating states in the event of a fault in a clear manner, is that the space available in the dashboard of a motor vehicle, in particular the space that is clearly observable by the driver, is limited is. This applies in particular when a large number of display instruments are provided in high-quality motor vehicles, but because of their large number they do not make a central display of malfunctions by warning lights or similar display devices superfluous, but on the contrary require the driver's attention to disturbed operating states that can be dangerous for the driver and vehicle and / or announce major damage, inform and warn effectively, so that timely remedial action can be taken.
  • the present invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages of the known warning device with a central display to make the display so that no additional space in the driver's good field of vision on the dashboard is claimed, so that the greatest possible guarantee for the striking one indicated critical operating state is given.
  • This arrangement of the display should be associated with as little additional effort as possible in order to be able to use the warning device desired for safety reasons to the greatest extent possible.
  • the space already provided in the dashboard for displaying the generally less important information about the time is used to display operating states to be monitored. It is assumed that the time display is still clearly visible to the driver. This not only eliminates the additional space required for the surface of the dashboard, which is clearly observable from the outside, but also does not require any further openings or openings in the dashboard for installing the display device of the warning device.
  • the warning device is distinguished by the fact that the display device of a digital time clock is used as the display device, which is coupled to the operation monitoring device and can be controlled by this to show the designation of the operating states to be displayed, such that the time display disappears and takes place in the case of operating states of greater importance that are to be represented whose name the function is represented.
  • the operational monitoring device is switched in such a way that operating states of a high priority level are preferably displayed, the time disappearing during a predetermined period of time or until acknowledgment.
  • the display display has a number of fields equal to the number of priority groups and that the operating states of each field are in one field assigned priority group can be represented.
  • This warning device has the advantage that the operating states of the highest priority are shown in one field and the operating states of the next lower priority are unhindered by the representation of the critical operating states of higher priority in a second field.
  • the least important operating states to be monitored can be displayed in a third field. This arrangement of the fields also improves the clarity of the importance of the disturbed operating state.
  • each display or field comprises a luminous area, a display area for the designation of the respective operating status to be displayed and a numerical area for the display of the number of operating conditions that occur at the same time.
  • the display is set up to show the operating state as a pictorial representation (pictogram).
  • warning device A further development of the warning device is that a query unit comprising a keyboard is connected to the display and / or the operational monitoring device for selecting the functions to be monitored.
  • functions of lower priority to be monitored can be selected with the keyboard in order to determine successively by operating the keyboard whether the corresponding operating states are present or not.
  • the display can take place either in the display provided for displaying the time or in a separate display field within the clock.
  • warning device can advantageously have the feature that the display and / or the operational monitoring device is provided with a program memory for coding the designation to be displayed in one of several predefined languages.
  • the part of the stored program that includes the naming of the operating states in the desired language is activated. Switching can be done either by a program switch or by a program card programmed for the respective language.
  • Fig. 1 groups of sensors are shown in the left part, which are assigned to the engine, the lighting, the chassis and the body.
  • the transmitters provide information about the operating states to be monitored as discrete signals - J-No signals - as analog signals, for example as a function of resistance transmitters, or as a frequency.
  • Functions of the engine to be monitored are, for example, oil pressure, oil level, oil temperature, cooling water level, cooling water temperature, fuel consumption, engine speed, top dead center and exhaust gas values.
  • Functions of the lighting to be monitored are brake light, tail light, license plate light, parking light, driving light, high beam, fog light.
