Изобретение относится к способу получения поликристаллического блока галогенида формулы ALnX, в которой Ln означает один или более редкоземельных металлов, X означает один или более атомов галогена, выбранных из Cl, Br или I, и A означает один или более щелочных металлов, таких как K, Li, Na, Rb или Cs; e, которое может быть равно нулю, составляет меньше или равно 3f и f больше или равно 1, имеющего низкое содержание воды и оксигалогенида, включающему стадию нагревания смеси, имеющей, с одной стороны, по меньшей мере одно соединение по меньшей мере с одной Ln-X связью и, с другой стороны, достаточное количество NHX для того, чтобы получить желаемое содержание оксигалогенида, причем упомянутая стадия нагревания приводит к расплавленной массе, содержащей галогенид редкоземельного металла, где за упомянутой стадией нагревания следует стадия охлаждения, и на стадии нагревания после достижения 300°C температура не снижается ниже 200°C до того, как получена расплавленная масса.
