Viele organische Flüssigkeiten oder organische Stoffe enthaltende Flüssigkeiten neigen zur
Schaumbildung, wodurch ihre Handhabung erschwert wird. Beispielsweise treten in dieser Hinsicht
Schwierigkeiten auf bei der Herstellung von Leim oder Papier, der Reinigung von Abwässern,
der Destillation von ölen, Teeren und anderen organischen Stoffen, insbesondere aber bei der Anwendung
von Schmierölen, wenn öl und Luft zusammen bewegt werden.
Bei Schmierölen muß oft festgestellt werden, daß Zusatzstoffe, welche zur Erzielung bestimmter
Eigenschaften dem öl einverleibt werden, die Neigung zum Schäumen erhöhen. Das gilt insbesondere
für sogenannte Reinigungsmittel, wie öllösliche Salze aus organischen oder anorganischen
Fettsäuren mit etwa io bis 30 C-Atomen im Molekül, Wollfettsäuren, Paraffinwachssäuren (hergestellt
durch Oxydation von Paraffinwachs), chlorierten Fettsäuren, aromatischen Carbonsäuren
einschließlich der aromatischen Fettsäuren, aromatischen Oxyfettsäuren, Paraffinwachsbenzoesäuren,
Alkylsalicylsäuren, Phthalsäuremonoestern, aromatischen Ketosäuren, aromatischen Äthersäuren,
Diphenolen, wie Di-(alkylphenol)-sulfiden und-disulfiden, Methylen-di-(alkylphenole), Sulfonsäuren,
wie sie durch Behandlung von alkylaromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen oder hochsiedenden
Erdölen mit Schwefelsäure erhalten werden können, Schwefelsäuremonoestern, Phosphorsäure - mono-
und -diestern, einschließlich der entsprechenden Thiophosphorsäuren, Phosphonsäuren und Arsinsäuren.
Eine andere Gruppe von die Schaumbildung begünstigenden Reinigungsmitteln sind die Metallphenolate
oder Verbindungen, in welchen ein phe-
nolisches Wasserstoffatom durch ein Metallion ersetzt worden ist. Solche Verbindungen können
ein- oder mehrkernig sein. Die Kerne können eine oder mehrere Alkyl- (oder andere) Seitenketten
haben, und bzw, oder zwei oder mehr Kerne können durch ein oder mehrere Kohlenstoff-, Stickstoff-,
Sauerstoff-, Phosphor-, Aluminium-, Bor-, Arsen-, Antimon- oder Schwefelatome verbunden sein.
Unter den Metallphenolaten stellen die Metallsalze,
ίο insbesondere die Erdalkalisalze öllöslicher Phenolharze,
welche freie phenolische Gruppen enthalten, eine besondere wirksame Gruppe von Reinigungsmitteln
dar. Diese Salze können erhalten werden durch Kondensieren einer alkylierten aromatischen
Hydroxylverbindung (Phenol, Naphthol usw.) mit einer Kupplungskomponente von niedrigem Molgewicht
(Formaldehyd, Acetaldehyd usw.) unter Bildung eines mit Öl mischbaren Harzes mit freien
phenolischen Gruppen, die dann mit einem basischen Mittel (Kalk, Bariumhydroxyd usw.)
zwecks Bildung des Metallsalzes umgesetzt werden. Ein Beispiel für eine Gruppe dieser Verbindungen
ist das Calciumsalz von Methylen-bis-p-isooctylphenol.
as Nichtmetallische Reinigungsmittel, welche Schäume
hervorrufen können, sind z. B. die Phosphatide, wie Lecithin, gewisse fette Öle, wie Rapsöl und
voltolisierte fette oder mineralische Öle.
Besonders unerwünschte Schaumbildner sind die Erdalkaliphosphatdiester einschließlich der Thiophosphatdiester,
die Erdalkalidiphenolate, insbesondere das Calcium- und Bariumsalz von Diphenolmono-
und -polysulfiden, sowie Lecithin.
Es ist nun gefunden worden, daß die Schaumbildung in organischen Flüssigkeiten oder organische Stoffe enthaltenden Flüssigkeiten zurückgedrängt werden kann durch einen Kohlenwasserstoff bzw. eine Kohlenwasserstoffmischung, ζ. B. in Form einer aliphatischen Erdölfraktion, mit einer Saybolt-Universal-Viskosität von weniger als etwa 50 Sekunden bei 380, welcher bzw. welche eine geringe Menge einer Verbindung enthält, die eine Kette von einer der beiden Strukturen
Es ist nun gefunden worden, daß die Schaumbildung in organischen Flüssigkeiten oder organische Stoffe enthaltenden Flüssigkeiten zurückgedrängt werden kann durch einen Kohlenwasserstoff bzw. eine Kohlenwasserstoffmischung, ζ. B. in Form einer aliphatischen Erdölfraktion, mit einer Saybolt-Universal-Viskosität von weniger als etwa 50 Sekunden bei 380, welcher bzw. welche eine geringe Menge einer Verbindung enthält, die eine Kette von einer der beiden Strukturen
Si-O-
- oder
Si-O-
aufweist, worin die verschiedenen R die gleichen oder verschiedene gesättigte organische Reste darstellen,
die an das X- oder Si-Atom durch ein aliphatisches Kohlenstoffatom gebunden sind, wobei X
ein Sauerstoff-, Schwefel-, Selen- oder Telluratom darstellt und η eine ganze Zahl von mindestens 2
bedeutet.
Die niedrigmolekularen Monomeren, wie Dimethylsilicon,
neigen dazu, stärker zu polymerisieren, und η kann beispielsweise zwischen 2 und 100
oder darüber liegen. Für den vorliegenden Zweck werden im allgemeinen die verhältnismäßig hochmolekularen
Polymeren vorgezogen, in welchen η ζ. B. 30 bis 5° sein kann. Andererseits scheint
Dicetylsilicon eine Assoziation von drei monomeren Einheiten zu bilden. Der hier verwendete Ausdruck
»assoziierte Verbindung« soll sowohl die stark polymerisierten als auch die lockerer assoziierten
Komplexe umfassen.
Siliciumverbindungen der obengenannten Arten, welche insgesamt mindestens etwa 24 gesättigte
Kohlenstoffatome in der monomeren Einheit aufweisen, sind zur Verminderung des Schäumens von
Öl-in-Wasser-Emulsionen, wie löslichen Schneidölen, sehr wirksam. Als Beispiel kann Dicetylsilicon
genannt werden.
Verbindungen, welche insgesamt etwa 10 oder
weniger Kohlenstoffatome im Monomeren enthalten, d. h. wenn R für einen aliphatischen Rest, wie Methyl,
Äthyl, n- oder Isopropyl, die verschiedenen Butyle, Amyle usw. steht, sind höchst wirksam zur
Verminderung des Schäumens von Wasser-in-Öl-Emulsionen oder von einphasigen organischen
Flüssigkeiten, z. B. von Mineralölen, anderen Kohlenwasserstoffen oder anderen organischen Flüssigkeiten,
wie Alkylbernsteinsäuren. Das hervorragendste Beispiel dieser Gruppe ist polymerisiertes
Dimethylsilicon.
Wenn Öl-in-Wasser-Emulsionen manchmal vorhanden sind und manchmal nicht, werden Gemische
dieser Siliciumverbindungen verwendet, welche sich von hoch- und niedermolekularen Monomeren ableiten.
Die Mengen dieser Siliciumverbindungen, insbesondere von Dimethylsilicon, welche eine beachtliche
Schaum verminderung herbeiführen, können sehr gering, z. B. ein Gewichtsteil auf eine Million,
sein. Normalerweise ergeben Konzentrationen der Polymeren niedrigmolekularer Siliciumverbindungen
von etwa 0,0001 bis 0,01 Gewichtsprozent sehr gute Ergebnisse, und selten wird mehr als 0,1 °/o
verwendet.
Von hochmolekularen Monomeren, wie Dicetylsilicon, abgeleitete Siliciumverbindungen können
auch größere Mengen, beispielsweise zwischen 0,05 und 0,5 Gewichtsprozent, verwendet werden.
Die beschriebenen Siliciumverbindungen können zur Herstellung der schaumverhindernden Mittel
bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur in Mengen bis zu 5.0 oder mehr Volumprozent in überwiegend aus Kohlenwasserstoff
bestehenden Mischungen, wie Erdölfraktionen, mit einer Viskosität von weniger als
etwa 50 SUS. leicht gelöst werden. Solche Erdölfraktionen
sind (je nach der schwankenden Viskosität) bekannt als Sprühöle, Gasöle, Kerosin
u. dgl., und in manchen Fällen können sogar auch flüchtigere Flüssigkeiten verwendet werden.
Beispielsweise kann als bevorzugte Ausführungsform eine Lösung von 4 Volumprozent Dimethylsiliconpolymeren
in einem aliphatischen Sprühöl mit einer Viskosität von etwa 40 bis 50 SUS. bei
3 8° genannt werden.
Es ist auch gefunden worden, daß andere Zusätze ebenfalls mit Vorteil zusammen mit den Siliciumverbindungen
verwendet werden können. In diesem Zusammenhang ist beobachtet worden, daß insbesondere
die öllöslichen Reinigungsmittel, die früher erwähnt worden sind, die Mischbarkeit der
Siliciumverbindungen mit dem Kohlenwasserstoffträger erhöhen.
Solche Konzentrate von Schaumverhütungsmitteln, die z. B. zur Dispergierung in etwa
io Raumteilen Schmieröl geeignet sind, können etwa 0,001 bis 0,005 Gewichtsprozent der hier beschriebenen
schaumvermindernden Siliciumverbindungen, etwa 2,5 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent eines öllöslichen.
Reinigungsmittels und etwa 1 bis 3 Gewichtsprozent
eines öllöslichen Antioxydationsmittels enthalten.
So kann ein Kohlenwasserstoff lösungsmittel, z.B. ein aliphatisches Sprühöl mit einer Viskosität von
ao etwa 40 bis 50 SUS. bei 380, etwa 0,0025 Gewichtsprozent
der Dimethylsiliconpolymeren, etwa 2,5 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent eines öllöslichen Reinigungsmittels
und etwa 1 bis 3 Gewichtsprozent eines Antioxydationsmittels enthalten.
Claims (3)
- Patentansprüche.·i. Schaumverhindernde Mittel für organische Flüssigkeiten oder organische Stoffe enthaltende Flüssigkeiten, insbesondere Schmieröle, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie einen Kohlenwasserstoff oder ein Gemisch aus Kohlenwasserstoffen, insbesondere aliphatische Erdölfraktionen, mit einer Saybolt-Universal-Viskosität von weniger als etwa 50 Sekunden, vorzugsweise 40 bis 50 Sekunden, bei 380 und in diesen gelöst einen kleineren Anteil schaumverringernder Verbindungen enthalten, welche eine Kette von einer der beiden StrukturenSi-O-R— oderSi-O-aufweisen, worin die verschiedenen R die gleichen oder verschiedene, gesättigte organische Reste darstellen, die an das X- oder Si-Atom durch ein aliphatisches Kohlenstoffatom gebunden sind, wobei X ein Sauerstoff-, Schwefel-, Selen- oder Telluratom darstellt und η eine ganze Zahl von mindestens 2 bedeutet.
- 2. Mittel nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jedes R ein gesättigtes Alkyl radikal ist.
- 3. Mittel nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie zusätzlich in Schmierölen als Reinigungsmittel wirkende Stoffe, wie öllösliche Metal !phenolate, enthalten.I 5849 3.54
