Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft Imidophenylamine der allgemeinen Formel:
- worin sind:
- R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy, substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl (beide einschließend Hydroxyl- oder Halogen-Substituenten), Halogen oder Mischungen davon;
- Me Methyl;
- T Allyl oder Methallyl;
- i 2;
- j Null, 1 oder 2 und
- G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-.
- Diese Imidophenylamine sind zur Herstellung von verbesserten, lösemittelbeständigen Compositen verwendbar, z.B. Polyamide oder Polyimide, wenn sie unter Bildung vernetzender Endverschlüsse in das Oligomer kondensiert werden.
- In jüngster Zeit suchen die Chemiker die synthetische Darstellung von Oligomeren für verbesserte Hochleistungs- Composite, die für Anwendungen in der Raumfahrt geeignet sind. Diese Composite sollten Lösemittelbeständigkeit, Zähigkeit, Schlagfestigkeit, Verarbeitungsfähigkeit und Festigkeit aufweisen und sollten thermoplastisch sein. Besonders angestrebt werden Oligomere und Composite, die thermooxidative Beständigkeit aufweisen und dementsprechend bei erhöhten Temperaturen eingesetzt werden können.
- Obgleich Composite auf Epoxidbasis für viele Anwendungen geeignet sind, sind sie wegen ihrer spröden Beschaffenheit und Empfindlichkeit gegenüber Zersetzung für viele Anwendungen in der Raumfahrt unzureichend und insbesondere bei solchen Anwendungen, bei denen thermisch stabile, zähe Composite gefordert werden. Dementsprechend hat sich die Forschung neuerdings auf Polyimid-Composite konzentriert, um eine akzeptable Ausgewogenheit zwischen thermischer Stabilität, Lösemittelbeständigkeit und zähigkeit zu erzielen. Noch immer liegen die Höchsttemperaturen für die Verwendung der Polyimid-Composite, wie beispielsweise PMR-15, bei etwa 316 ºC ... 329 ºC (600 ºF ... 625 ºF), da sie Glasübergangstemperaturen von etwa 366 ºC (690 ºF) besitzen.
- Es hat bei synthetisch dargestellten Polyimid- Sulfonverbindungen Fortschritte gegeben, um einzigartige Eigenschaften oder Kombinationen von Eigenschaften zu erzielen. Beispielsweise haben Kwiatkowski und Brode Maleinsäure-verschlossene lineare Polyarylimide synthetisch dargestellt, wie sie in der US-P-3 839 287 offenbart wurden. Holub und Evans haben Maleinsäure oder nadisch verschlossene, Imido-substituierte Polyester-Zusammensetzungen entsprechend der Offenbarung der US-P-3 729 446 synthetisch dargestellt. Wir selbst haben thermisch stabile Polysulfonoligomere entsprechend der Offenbarung in der US-P-4 476 184 oder der US-P-4 536 559 synthetisch dargestellt und weitere Verbesserungen bei Polyetherimidsulfonen, Polybenzoxazolsulfonen, Polybutadiensulfonen und mehrdimensionalen "Stern"- oder "Sternschnuppen"-Oligomere erzielt. Bei vielen dieser Oligomere und ihren Compositen haben wir überraschend hohe Glasübergangstemperaturen bei noch angemessener Verarbeitbarkeit und angestrebten physikalischen Eigenschaften erhalten.
- Polybenzoxazole können bei Temperaturen bis zu etwa 399 ºC ... 413 ºC (750 ºF ... 775 ºF) verwendet werden, da diese Composite Glasübergangstemperaturen von etwa 449 ºC (840 ºF) haben. Bei einigen Anwendungen in der Raumfahrt werden Composite benötigt, die noÅch höhere Anwendungstemperaturen haben, und zwar bei gleichzeitiger Erhaltung der Zähigkeit, Lösemittelbeständigkeit, Verarbeitbarkeit, Formbarkeit, Festigkeit und Schlagzähigkeit.
- Mehrdimensionale Oligomere sind in bezug auf Verarbeitbarkeit einigen verbesserten Composit-Oligomeren überlegen, da sie bei niedrigeren Temperaturen verarbeitet werden können. Beim Härten werden die Phenylimid-Endverschlüsse jedoch vernetzt, so daß die Wärmebeständigkeit des resultierenden Composits wesentlich erhöht wird bei nur geringfügiger Einbuße der Biegesteifheit, Matrix-Spannungstransfer (Schlagzähigkeit), Zähigkeit, Elastizität und anderer mechanischer Eigenschaften. Glasübergangstemperaturen oberhalb von 510 ºC (950 ºF) sind erreichbar.
- Kommerziell verfügbare Polyester zeigen bei Vereinigung mit bekannten Streckmitteln, wie beispielsweise Styrol, keine zufriedenstellende Wärmebeständigkeit und Oxidationsbeständigkeit, um bei Anwendungen in der Luftfahrt und Raumfahrt verwendbar zu sein. Polyarylester sind oftmals nicht zufriedenstellend, da die Harze ebenfalls oft halbkristallin sind, wodurch sie in Lösemitteln zum Laminieren unlösbar werden, in der Schmelze nicht verarbeitbar sind und während der Composit-Herstellung einem Schrumpfen oder Verwerfen unterliegen. Solche Polyarylester, die in konventionellen Lösemitteln zum Laminieren löslich sind, bleiben so in Compositform und begrenzen dadurch ihre Verwendbarkeit in Strukturcompositen. Die hohe Konzentration der Estergruppen trägt zur Festigkeit und Zähigkeit des Kunstharzes bei, macht aber auch das Harz empfindlich gegenüber schädlichen Einwirkungen von Wasserabsorption. Die hohe Feuchtigkeitsabsorption von kommerziellen Polyestern kann zur Verformung des Composits führen, wenn es bei erhöhter Temperatur belastet wird.
- Es können jedoch verbesserte Hochleistungs-Polyestercomposite für die Raumfahrt unter Verwendung von vernetzungsfähigen, endverschlossenen Polyesterimidethersulfon oligomeren hergestellt werden, die über eine annehmbare Kombination von Lösemittelbeständigkeit, Zähigkeit, Schlagzähigkeit, Festigkeit, Verarbeitbarkeit, Formbarkeit und Wärmefestigkeit verfügen. Unter Einbeziehung von Schiff'scher Base (-CH=N-), Imidazol-, Thiazo- oder Oxazol-Verknüpfungen in der Oligomerkette können verbesserte Composite, die mit Polyesteroligomeren gebildet werden, bei entsprechender Dotierung halbleitende oder leitende Eigenschaften aufweisen.
- Leitfähige und halbleitende Kunststoffe wurden umfangreich untersucht (siehe z.B. die US-P-4 375 427; 4 338 222; 3 966 987; 4 344 869 und 4 344 870), jedoch besitzen diese Polymere nicht die Blendeigenschaften, die bei Anwendungen in der Raumfahrt entscheidend sind, d.h. die leitfähigen Polymere besitzen nicht die (1) Zähigkeit des Blends, (2) Biegesteifheit, (3) Elastizität, (4) Bearbeitbarkeit, (5) Schlagzähigkeit (und andere Fähigkeiten zum Matrix- Spannungstransfer), (6) Bewahrung der Eigenschaften über einen breiten Temperaturbereich und (7) hohe Temperaturbeständigkeit, wie sie bei verbesserten Compositen in der Raumfahrt erwünscht werden. Composite bekannter Ausführung sind oftmals zu spröde.
- Die DE-A-2 626 795 betrifft Imidyl-Verbindungen, die eine spezifische Formel haben und zur Herstellung von Polymeren geeignet sind, die mit Hilfe von Licht vernetzt werden können. Die Polymere dieses Typs sind gemäß der Erfindung für die Ausführung unserer photochemischen Prozesse geeignet und sind im Vergleich zu bekannten Polymeren photochemisch empfindlicher.
- Die linearen Arme der thermisch stabilen, mehrdimensionalen Oligomere haben halbleitende oder leitende Eigenschaften, sofern eine Dotierung mit geeigneten Dotierungsmitteln erfolgt, die leitfähige Verknüpfungen zwischen den aromatischen Gruppen enthalten, wie beispielsweise die Schiff'sche Base (-N=CH-)-Bindungen. Die Arme sind durchsetzt mit Sulfon- und Ether-Verknüpfungen. Jeder Arm ist mit einem mono- oder bifunktionellen Endverschluß terminiert, um ein kontrollierte Vernetzen beim wärmeinduzierten oder chemisch induzierten Härten zu ermöglichen.
- Gemäß einem Aspekt der Erfindung werden vernetzende Imidophenylamine der allgemeinen Formel gewährt:
- worin sind:
- R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy, substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl (beide einschließend Hydroxyl- oder Halogen-Substituenten), Halogen oder Mischungen davon;
- Me Methyl;
- T Allyl oder Methallyl;
- i 2;
- j Null, 1 oder 2 und
- G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-.
- R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy, substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl, Halogen oder Mischungen davon, wobei die Substituenten für Alkyl oder Aryl ausgewählt aus der Gruppe, bestehend aus Hydroxyl oder Halogen;
- i 2;
- Me Methyl;
- T Allyl oder Methallyl;
- j Null, 1 oder 2; sowie
- G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-.
- Vorzugsweise sind R&sub1;
- j 1 und G -CH&sub2;-. Die höchste Wärmebeständigkeit für ein Oligomer oder Composit, das den Endverschluß enthält, kann mit dem folgenden Endverschluß erzielt werden:
- Diese Familie kann hergestellt werden aus dem entsprechenden Imidophenyl-säurehalogenid der Formel:
- indem das Säurehalogenid mit Ammoniak unter Bildung eines Säureamids gefolgt von einer Umlagerung des Säureamids zu dem Amin umgesetzt wird.
- Das Imidophenylsäurehalogenid kann nach dem in der US-P- 4 604 437 beschriebenen Verfahren durch Umsetzen des entsprechenden Anhydrids der Formel:
- mit einem entsprechenden Amin der Formel: (Aminobenzoesäure)
- oder (Diaminobenzoesäurehalogenid)
- hergestellt werden.
- Diese Familie von Amidophenylaminen kann in Kondensationsreaktionen zur Erzeugung von vernetzenden linearen oder mehrdimensionalen Oligomeren verwendet werden, insbesondere Polyamiden oder Polyimiden. Beispielsweise können die Imidophenylamine mit Diacidhalogeniden und Diaminen unter Bildung (u.a.) von Polyamiden der allgemeinen Formel kondensiert werden:
- E-NHCO-P-CONH&lsqbstr;Q-NHCO-P-CONH&rsqbstr;E
- Ar&lsqbstr;CONH-P-NHCO-Q-CONH-E]n
- Ar&lsqbstr;CONH-E]n oder Ar&lsqbstr;NHCO-Q-CONH-E]
- Nach einem weiteren Aspekt der vorliegenden Erfindung wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Imidophenylamins der allgemeinen Formel gewährt:
- worin sind:
- R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy, substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl, Halogen oder Mischungen davon, wobei die Substituenten für Alkyl oder Aryl ausgewählt werden aus der Gruppe, bestehend aus Hydroxyl oder Halogen;
- Me Methyl;
- T Allyl oder Methallyl;
- i 2;
- j Null, 1 oder 2 und
- G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-;
- umfassend die Schritte
- (a) Umsetzen eines sauren Halogenids der Formel:
- worin X Halogen ist,
- mit Ammoniak unter Bildung eines Säureamids; sowie
- (b) Umlagerung des Säureamids zu dem Amin.
- Für verbesserte Composite verwendbare vernetzende Imidophenylamine haben die allgemeine Formel:
- worin sind:
- R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy, substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl, Halogen oder Mischungen davon;
- Me Methyl;
- T Allyl oder Methallyl;
- i 2;
- j Null, 1 oder 2 und
- G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-.
- Die ungesättigte Stelle bei dieser Familie von Aminen kann thermisch oder chemisch nach dem Kondensieren des Amins in ein Oligomer unter Bildung vernetzender Stabilität des gehärteten Composits aktiviert werden, indem wesentlich die Lösemittelbeständigkeit der Composite verbessert wird. Imidophenol-Analoga dieser Amine wurden beschrieben in unserer Anmeldung US-A-4 661 604.
- Diese Imidophenylamine können hergestellt werden durch Umsetzen der entsprechenden Imidophenyl-säurehalogenide der allgemeinen Formel:
- mit Ammoniak unter Bildung eines Säureamids. Die Umlagerung des Säureamids liefert das angestrebte Amin. Das Aminhalogenid kann aus der entsprechenden Säure in Gegenwart von SOCl&sub2; hergestellt werden. Entsprechend der Beschreibung in der US-P-4-604 437 läßt sich die Säure leicht durch Umsetzen des entsprechenden Hydrids entweder mit Aminobenzoesäure oder Diaminobenzoesäure herstellen. Der Fachmann ist in der Lage, die erforderlichen Anhydride mit Hilfe konventioneller synthetischer Darstellungen zu erzeugen.
- Vorzugsweise sind j 1, G -CH&sub2;, R&sub1;
- Die Substituenten an dem Alkyl- oder Aryl-Radikal sind Halogen- oder Hydroxyl-Radikale. Gemäß den bevorzugten Ausführungsformen sind dann die Amidophenylamine:
- Die Monomere bieten einen großen Bereich von Aktivierungstemperaturen und gewähren dementsprechend die angestrebten Endverschlüsse für einen großen Bereich härtbarer Oligomere. Wenn der Endverschluß in der Nähe der Fließtemperatur des polymeren Grundgerüsts aktiviert wird, werden die besten Ergebnisse erzielt.
Claims (13)
1. Vernetzendes, endverschlossenes Monomer, ausgewählt aus
der Gruppe, bestehend aus
worin sind:
R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy,
substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl, Halogen oder
Mischungen davon, wobei die Substituenten für Alkyl oder
Aryl ausgewählt werden aus der Gruppe, bestehend aus
Hydroxyl oder Halogen;
Me Methyl;
T Allyl oder Methallyl;
i 2;
j Null, 1 oder 2 und
G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-.

j = 1.

12. Vernetzendes, endverschlossenes Monomer nach Anspruch 1

13. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Imidophenylamins der
allgemeinen Formel
worin sind:
R&sub1; niederes Alkyl, niederes Alkoxy, Aryl, Aryloxy,
substituiertes Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl, Halogen oder
Mischungen davon, wobei die Substituenten für Alkyl oder
Aryl ausgewählt werden aus der Gruppe, bestehend aus
Hydroxyl oder Halogen;
Me Methyl;
T Allyl oder Methallyl;
i 2;
j Null, 1 oder 2 und
G -CH&sub2;-, -O-, -S- oder -SO&sub2;-,
umfassend die Schritte:
(a) Umsetzen eines sauren Halogenids der Formel:
worin X Halogen ist,
mit Ammoniak unter Bildung eines Säureamids; sowie
(b) Umlagerung des Säureamids zu dem Amin.
