65 Die Erfindung betrifft den in den Ansprüchen gekennzeichneten Gegenstand.
Funktionelle Flüssigkeiten wurden bisher für sehr
verschiedenartige Zwecke verwendet, beispielsweise als elektronische Kühlmittel, Diffusionspumpenflüssigkeiten,
Schmiermittel, Dämpfungsflüssigkeiten, als Basis für Fette, als KraftUbertragungs- und hydraulische Flüssigkeiten,
als Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeiten, als Wärmepumpenflüssigkeiten, als Kühlanlagenflüssigkeiten
und als Filtermedien für Klimaanlagen. Besonders hohe Anforderungen werden an hydraulische Flüssigkeiten
gestellt, die in den hydraulischen Systemen von Flugzeugen zur Steuerung verschiedener mechanischer
Vorrichtungen und Kontrollsystemen eingesetzt werden. Eine der wichtigsten Anforderungen an eine
hydraulische Flüssigkeit für Flugzeuge ist die Forderung, daß die Flüssigkeit in ausreichendem Maße
chemisch stabil ist, um einem oxidativen und thermischen Abbau zu widerstehen, der zur Bildung von
Säuren und zum korrosiven Angriff auf die Metalle, die
mit der hydraulischen Flüssigkeit in Berührung kommen,
fahren kann.
Um das Ausmaß der Säurebildung während der Verwendung der Flüssigkeit unter Kontrolle zu halten
und die Korrosion der Bestandteile des hydraulischen Systems zu vermeiden, ist es üblich, dem Basismaterial
der hydraulsichen Flüssigkeit bestimmte Säurefänger und/oder Korrosionsinhibitoren zuzusetzen.
Obwohl bisher bereits eine Vielzahl von Verbindungen als Korrosionsinhibitoren vorgeschlagen wurden, '«
sind Säureakzeptoren, die als Protonenakzeptoren wirken und die Bildung von korrosiven Säuren in den
Flüssigkeiten verhindern, wenn diese bei längerer Verwendung und hohen Temperaturen einen Abbau
erleiden, im allgemeinen bevorzugt. Eine besonders -ι*
bevorzugte Materialklasse sind Epoxyverbindungen, insbesondere epoxidierte, in der Natur vorkommende
Materialien, wie epoxidierte, ungesättigte Glyceride, einschließlich epoxidiertes Sojaöl, epocidiertes Ricinusöl,
epoxidiertes Leinöl, epoxidierte Fette und dergleichen. Andere vorgeschlagene Materialien sind Epoxyester,
wie Butylepoxyacetoxystearat, Glyceryltriepoxyacetoxystearat, Isooctylepoxystearat, epoxidiertes Isooctylphthalat,
und dergleichen. Auch sind verschiedene Alkyl- und Arylalkylepoxide, wie Epoxydecan, Epoxyhexadecan,
Epoxyoctadecan, Cyclododecan, und dergleichen, und Glyceryl- und verschiedene Glycidyläther, wie
Phenylglycidyläther, Glycidylcyclohexyläther, Alkylglycidyläther, und dergleichen, vorgeschlagen worden.
Aus der DE-OS 19 06 293 sind 3,4-Epoxycycloalkyl-3,4-epoxycycloalkylcarboxylate,
und insbesondere S^-Epoxycyclohexylmethyl-S^-epoxycyclohexancarboxylat
bekannt, die als Säureakzeptoren für hydraulische Flüssigkeiten Verwendung finden. Bei diesen
Diepoxiden handelt es sich um Additive, die zwar wirksame Säurefänger sind, jedoch nachteiligerweise
harzartige Ablagerungen an der Welle der Flüssigkeitspumpe im Bereich der Dichtung verursachen. Diese
Ablagerungen führen nach einiger Zeit zu einem unerwünschten Flüssigkeitsleckverlust durch die WeI-lenabdichtung.
Demgegenüber wurde bereits für verschiedene Monoepoxide eine verbessernde Wirkung
bezüglich der Tendenz zum Flüssigkeitsleckverlust an der Abdichtung der Wellen von Flüssigkeitspumpen
festgestellt Die in den erfindungsgemäßen funktionellen
Flüssigkeiten enthaltenen Monoepoxid-Verbindungen sind nicht die einzigen, die als Säurefänger und
Korrosionsinhibitoren in funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten brauchbar sind Beispielsweise wird in der DE-OS
22 62 185 das verbesserte Verhalten der dort beschrie- so benen Monoepoxid-Additive bezüglich des Leckverlustes
an der Dichtung der Pumpenwelle im Vergleich zu dem Verhalten der bekannten Diepoxide, wie beispielsweise
derjenigen der DE-OS 19 06 293, dargelegt. So sind in der Tabelle auf Seite 27 durch die Versuche 4 und
7 die erheblichen Flüssigkeitsleckverluste an der Dichtung der Welle der Flüssigkeitspumpe zahlenmäßig
belegt angegeben, die mit der Diepoxid-Verbindung der DE-OS 19 06 293 (nämlich mit 3,4-Epoxycyclohexylmethyl^/t-epoxycyclohexancarboxylat)
erhalten werden. Insbesondere der Versuch 4, der laut Angabe von Seite
29, Zeile 20/21 der DE-OS 22 62185 vorzeitig abgebrochen werden mußte, läßt erkennen, daß der
Leckverlust an der Dichtung der Pumpenwelle (vgl. letzte Spalte der Tabelle) um viele Größenordnungen
höher als der mit Monoepoxid-Additiven erhaltene Leckverlust war.

in den Flüssigkeitspumpen eine bessere Gesamtleistung der Flugmaschinen erzielt Die in den
funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung eingesetzten Epoxidverbindungen haben zwar mit
denen der DE-OS 22 62 185 sowohl den Monoepoxidring, als auch die Gegenwart von zumindest einer
Sauerstoff enthaltenden Gruppe an dem Sechsring gemeinsam, enthalten jedoch zusätzlich noch im
Sechsring eine CHi-Brücke. Diese Konfiguration des
Moleküls ist maßgeblich dafür verantwortlich, daß funktioneile Flüssigkeiten mit einem Gehalt an diesen
Verbindungen eine ausgezeichnete Korrosionsresistenz und lange Laufzeiten der damit geschmierten Pumpen
aufweisen.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung lag daher die Aufgabe zugrunde, verbesserte funktionelle Flüssigkeiten mit
erhöhter Stabilität gegen oxidativen und thermischen Abbau zu schaffen, die vor allem keine Ablagerungen im
Betrieb an bewegten Teilen ausbilden, und die ein geeignetes Viskositätsverhalten besitzen.
Diese Aufgabe wurde durch die erfindungsgemäßen Flüssigkeiten gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung, wie
sie durch die Patentansprüche wiedergespiegelt werden, gelöst
Die funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten als wesentliche Komponenten ein
Basismaterial und eine Epoxyverbindung. Die Konzentration der Epoxyverbindungen in der funktioneilen
Flüssigkeit wird innerhalb des angegebenen Bereichs von 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, entsprechend den
Anforderungen des Systems, in welchem die funktionelle Flüssigkeit eingesetzt werden soll, und entsprechend
der Beschaffenheit des zu verwendenden Basismaterials eingestellt, um Flüssigkeiten zu schaffen, die genügende
Mengen an Epoxymaterial enthalten, um die Säurebildung während des normalen Betriebs zu verhindern.
Eine bevorzugte Additivkonzentration der Epoxidverbindungen
in den erfindungsgemäßen funktionelleh Flüssigkeiten liegt im Bereich von 0,10 bis 7,0
Gewichtsprozent
Die funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten dieser Erfindung können auf eine beliebige, dem Fachmann zur
Einverleibung eines Additivs in ein Basismaterial bekannte Weise kompoundiert werden, beispielsweise
durch Zugabe der Epoxidverbindung zu dem Basismaterial unter Rühren, bis eine gleichmäßige Flüssigkeitszubereitung
erhalten wird.
Geeignete Epoxidmateriaüen sind Monoepoxynorbornylverbindungen
und alkylsubstituierte Monoepoxynorbornylverbindungen,
einschließlich beispielsweise Epoxynorbornancarboxylate (Beispiele hierfür werden

verwendet werden können, sind 5,6-Epoxynorbornancarboxylate der im Anspruch 2 angegebenen,
und dort näher definierten, allgemeinen Formel.

Diese Verbindungen können nach dem Fachmann für die Herstellung von Epoxidverbindungen bekannten
Verfahren hergestellt werden, beispielsweise nach Verfahren, die in der US-PS 31 87 018 beschrieben
worden sind.
Zur Herstellung der in den erfindungsgemäßen funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten enthaltenen Epoxynorbornylmonocarboxylaten
oder -dicarboxylaten kann vom Cyclopentadien oder einem substituierten Cyclopentadien
ausgegangen werden, das mit einem Acrylat der allgemeinen Formel CH3CHCOOR', worin R' ein Ci- bis
Cie-Alkylrest ist, umgesetzt wird. Dieses Reaktionsprodukt
wird anschließend mit Wasserstoffperoxid in das Monoepoxynorbornylcarboxylat überführt. Falls die
Diester gewünscht werden, kann anstelle des Acrylats Maleinsäureanhydrid verwendet werden. Das Reaktionsprodukt
des Maleinsäureanhydrids und Cyclopentadien wird anschließend mit einem Ci- bis Cig-Alkohol
zum Diester verestert, der anschließend mit Wasserstoffperoxid in das Monoepoxydicarboxylat überführt
wird.
Das in den erfindungsgemäßen Flüssigkeiten enthaltene Basismaterial, das mindestens etwa 50 Gewichtsprozent
der funktionellen Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung ausmacht, besteht, wie oben erwähnt, aus
Estern und Amiden einer Phosphorsäure und/oder Dioder Tricarbonsäureestern und/oder Estern von Polyhydroxyverbindungen.
Derartige Basismaterialien werden in der US-PS 37 23 320 beschrieben.
Als Basismaterialien werden Kohlenwasserstoffphosphate
bevorzugt. Phosphorsäureester-Basismaterialien sind Trialkylphosphate, Triaryl- und/oder alkylsubstituierte
Arylphosphate und gemischte Aryl- und/oder substituierte Arylalkylphosphate. Im Hinblick auf die
Alkylreste werden solche mit 2 bis 18 C-Atomen, vorzugsweise 2 bis 12 C-Atomen bevorzugt, und im
Hinblick auf die Aryl- und substituierten Arylreste werden solche mit 6 bis 16 C-Atomen, und vorzugsweise
6 bis 12 C-Atomen bevorzugt.

jo 2-Äthylhexyldiphenylphosphat. Alle Prozentangaben
sind Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht des Gemisches.
Außer den Basismaterialien und der Monoepoxynorbornylverbindung
können die funktionellen Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung auch gegebenenfalls
einen Viskositätsindexverbesserer enthalten.
Bevorzugte polymere Viskositätsindexverbesserer, die in den funktionellen Flüssigkeiten dieser Erfindung
enthalten sein können, sind Polymere von Alkylestern ungesättigter Monocarbonsäuren der im Anspruch 7
angegebenen und dort näher definierten allgemeinen Formel. Beispiele für die in dieser Formel enthaltenen
Alkylreste R5, R6 und R7 sind der Methyl-, Äthyl-,
Propyl-, Butyl-, tert.-ButyI-, Isopropyl-, 2-Äthylhexyl-,
Hexyl-, Decyl-, Undecyl-, Dodecyl-Rest und dergleichen.
Diese Polymeren sind beispielsweise
Poly(butylmethacrylat),
Poly(hexylmethacrylate),
Poly(octylacrylate),
Poly(dodecylacrylate)
Poly(hexylmethacrylate),
Poly(octylacrylate),
Poly(dodecylacrylate)
und Polymere, in denen der Ester ein Gemisch von Verbindungen ist, die durch Veresterung der ^-ungesättigten
Monocarbonsäure mit einem Gemisch von y> Monoalkoholen mit 1 bis 12 C-Atomen erhalten werden.
Derartige Viskositätsindexverbesserer werden in der US-PS 37 23 320 beschrieben.
Nach einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten die funktionellen Flüssigen
ketten mindestens etwa 50 Gewichtsprozent eines Phosphatesters oder eines Gemisches von Phosphatestern
der im Anspruch 2 angegebenen und dort definierten allgemeinen Formel.
Besonders bevorzugte funktioneile Flüssigkeiten b5 enthalten mindestens etwa 65 Gewichtsprozent Phosphatester
und weniger als etwa 35 Gewichtsprozent andere Materialien, einschließlich des gegebenenfalls
enthaltenen Viskositätsindexverbesserers, und sogar
mindestens etwa 80 Gewichtsprozent derartige Phosphatester und weniger als etwa 20 Gewichtsprozent
andere Materialien.
Besonders bevorzugte Phosphatester zur Verwendung in den erfindungsgemäßen Flüssigkeiten sind
Dialkylarylphosphate, in denen die Alkylreste 1 bis 18 C-Atome aufweisen, beispielsweise Dibuty!phenyl phosphat
und Gemische von Trialkylphosphat und Trialkylphosphat, wie Tributylphosphat/Trikresylphosphat im
Verhältnis von 88; 12.
Selbstverständlich können die erfindungsgemäßen funktionellen Flüssigkeiten gegebenenfalls auch übliche
Modifizierungsmittel, wie Farbstoffe, Stockpunkterniedriger, Antioxidationsmittel, Antischaummittel,
Schmiermittel und Wasser, enthalten.
Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung. Alle Teile und Prozente sind Gewichtsteile und Gewichtsprozente,
es sei denn, daß ausdrücklich etwas anderes angegeben wird.

Herstellung von Äthyl-5,6-epoxynorbornancarboxylat
In ein geeignetes Reaktionsgefäß wurden Äthyl-5-norbornancarboxylat
(100 g; Molekulargewicht 166,22) der Formel

Methylenchlorid (400 ml) und Natriumcarbonat (90 g) J3
eingebracht. Hierzu wurde langsam eine wässerige Peressigsäurelösung (135 ml), die 25 g NaOAc · 3 H2O
enthielt, zugesetzt, wobei die Reaktionstemperatur mit einem Eisbad auf 3 bis :8°C gehalten wurde. Das
Methylenchlorid wurde abgestreift und das Reaktions- -to gemisch durch Waschen von gelösten Salzen befreit.
Die Ausbeute betrug 93,1 g (99,5%ige Reinheit).
Herstellung von Dibutyl-5,6-epoxynorbornan-2,3-dicarboxylat
(A) Herstellung des Dibutylesters von 5-Norbornen-2,3-dicarbonsäureanhydrid
In ein mit Rückflußkühler und Rührer versehenes Reaktionsgefäß wurde 5-Borbornen-23-dicarbonsäureanhydrid
(164,16 g; Molekulargewicht 164) der Formel

n-Butylalkohol (178 g) und p-Toluolsulfonsäure (Ig)
eingebracht. Das Gemisch wurde auf 97° C erwärmt und während der Reaktion auf einer Temperatur von 97° bis
104" C bei etwa 240 mm Hg gehalten. Während der
letzten Stunde der Reaktion betrug der Druck 185 mm Hg. Nach 7,34 Stunden wurde die Reaktion
abgebrochen, das Reaktionsgemisch gewaschen und die organische und wässerige Schicht getrennt. Die
Ausbeute an dem gewünschten Ester betrug 275,3 g.
(B) Epoxidierung des unter (A) erhaltenen Produkts
In ein geeignetes Reaktionsgefäß wurden 58,8 g des unter (A) erhaltenen Produkts eingebracht. 85°/oige
m-Chlorperbenzoesäure (44,6 g) wurde in Methylenchlorid
(325 ml) gelöst und die Lösung langsam im Verlaufe von 2,5 Stunden zugesetzt, wobei die
Reaktionstemperatur mittels eines Eisbads auf unterhalb 23" C gehalten wurde.
Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde gewaschen und das Lösungsmittel durch Abstreifen entfernt. Die Ausbeute
betrug 94,6 g an dem gewünschten Epoxid. Versuchsergebnisse mit Flüssigkeiten, welche diese Epoxide
enthielten, sind in der nachfolgenden Tabelle zusammengefaßt.

Die Basisflüssigkeit (A) enthält 94,2% Dibutylphenylphosphat, 5,1% Polyalkylrnethacrylat (polymerer Viskositätsindexverbesserer);
0,2% Wasser.
Die Säurestabilität der Flüssigkeit gegenüber Oxidation und Säurebildung wurde bestimmt, indem man die
Flüssigkeit auf 135° C hielt und periodisch entnommene Proben der Flüssigkeit zur Bestimmung der Säurezahl
titrierte. Eine titrierbare Säurezahl (TSZ) von 0,50 wurde als Endpunkt genommen und die Anzahl der
Stunden, die erforderlich war, damit die Flüssigkeit diese Säurekonzentration erreichte, wurde als Säurebildungswert
aufgezeichnet. Die Korrosionsraten wurden bestimmt und als Metallverlust in mg/cm2 angegeben.
Die Werte für die Leckverluste an der Wellenabdichtung wurden erhalten, indem man die Flüssigkeit durch
ein geschlossenes, hydraulisches System mittels einer Pumpe vom Typ APL-10v-7B, die mit 3600 UpM und
einer Flüssigkeitstemperatur von 107° C und einem Druck von 2,1 kg/cm2 betrieben wurde, im Kreis führte.

Der Radialdichtungsrotor bestand aus rostfreiem Stahl vom Typ 440, während der Stator aus gesinterter
Bronze bestand. Die durch das Leck an der Wellenabdichtung gedrungene Flüssigkeit wurde gesammelt und
gewogen und der Wert als Leckverlust in g Flüssigkeit/
Versuchsstunde angegeben. Die Versuchsdauer betrug mindestens 200 Stunden, sofern nicht durch eine
erhebliche Leckbildung eine frühere Beendigung des Versuchs notwendig war.
Claims (1)
1. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit, bestehend aus
(A) mindestens 50 Gewichtsprozent eines Basismaterials aus Estern und Amiden einer Phosphorsäure
und/oder Di- oder Tricarbonsäureestern und/oder Estern von Polyhydroxyverbindungen,
(B) 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent einer Epoxidverbindung
der allgemeinen Formel
