Description
Die O-Alkylierung der vorgenannten Ausgangsstoffe
wird im allgemeinen bei Temperaturen von —20 bis 00C
in Gegenwart von Lewis-Säuren, insbesondere von Bortrifluorid in Form eines Älherats durchgeführt. Diazoessigester
wird in einem Oberschuß, der zweckmäßig 10 bis 20% über der stöchiometrisch erforderlichen Menge
liegen sollte, zugegeben.
Die Umsetzung kann, sofern die Ausgangsstoffe bei
der Arbeilstemperatur in flüssiger Form vorliegen, in lösungsmittelfreier Arbeitsweise durchgeführt werden.
Werden Festsubstanzen umgesetzt, so können als Lösungsmittel unter den Reaktionsbedingungen inerte
Flüssigkeiten, insbesondere Chloroform, eingesetzt werden.
Zur Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsgemisches setzt man zunächst Wasser zu und extrahiert die Reaktionsprodukte
mit einem wasserunlöslichen Lösungsmittel. Aus der abgetrennten organischen Phase wird das Reaklionsprodukt
durch L/esiillation gewonnen.
Die Verseifung der Reaktionsprodukte kann auf übliche Weise, beispielsweise mit 10—20%iger NaOH-Lösung
erfolgen, deren Menge so zu bemessen ist, daß ein 10—20%iger Überschuß über die stöchiometrisch erforderliche
Menge NaOH vorhanden ist. Aus den resultierenden Verseifungslösungen werden die freien
Äthercarbonsäuren vorteilhaft dadurch gewonnen, daß man die Verseifungslösung über einen stark sauren Kationenaustauscher,
z. B. LewatiteS100, gibt und das EIuat unter vermindertem Druck einengt.
Die erfindungsgcm::ßcn Substanzen sind in Form ihrer
Salze verwendbar als Komnlexiern"gsmittel, insbesondere
für Ca-lonen. Die entsprechenden Komplexe sind in einem weiten pH-Bereich stabil. Derartige, N-
und P-freie Komplexbildner bieten den Vorteil, keine cutrophierendc Wirkung auf die Flora natürlicher Gewässer
auszuüben.

b) Tris-O-carboxymethyl-1,1,1 -trimethylolpropan

50 g (0,23 Mol) Tris-O-carboxymiMhyl-trimethylolpropan
wurden in eine Lösung von 30 g (0,75 Mol) Na-OH in Wasser eingetragen. Nach 3stündigem Erhitzen
unter Rückfluß trat Homogenisierung ein. Die alkalische Lösung wurde über einen Kationenaustauscher
(Lewatil®S 100) geleitet und das Eluat unter vermindertem
Druck eingeengt, wobei ein farbloser, öliger Rückstand verblieb. Es wurde bei Raumtemperatur im Vakuum
über P2O5 getrocknet, dabei kristallisierte das Tris-O-carboxymethyl-1,1,1-irimethylolpropan
langsam aus.
Farblose Kristalle vom Schmp. 102-040C.
Ausbeute: 39,9 g

Beispiel 1 Tris-0-carboxymethyl-l,l,l-trimethylol-propan(V)
a) Tris-O-carbüthoxymethyl-1,1,1 -trimethylolpropan(V)
Eine Aufschlämmung von 134,2 g (1 Mol) Trimethylolpropan
in 500 ml CHCIj wurde mit 7,05 g BFj-Ätherat versetzt; zu dieser Suspension wurde bei —20 bis
— 10° C langsam überschüssiger Diazoessigester (376,5 g = 3,3 Mol) getropft. Unter ^-Entwicklung trat
allmählich Homogenisierung ein.
Nach Beendigung der zunächst stürmischen NVEntwicklung
wurde noch einige Stunden unter Eiskühlung gehalten und die Lösung anschließend auf Eis gegeben.
Die Chforoformphase wurde abgetrennt, neutral gewaschen,
getrocknet, eingeengt und der verbleibende Rückstand im Hochvakuum destilliert.
Die im Siedebereich 174-198 °C/O,13-0,27 mbar
übergehenden Fraktionen (η Ί? = 1,4505—13) wurden
zweimal redestilliert. Das Tris-O-carbäthoxymethyl-1,1,1
-trimcthylolpropan wurde als farbloses öl vomSdp.
I72-73°C/O,O27 mbar erhalten.
O-Carboxy methyl-tartronsäure a)O-Carbäthoxy methyl-tartronsäurediä thy !ester
Zu 176,2 g (1 Mol) Tarironsäurediälhylester wurde
1 g BFj-Ätherat gegeben und zu der Lösung unter konstantem Rühren bei — 10°C insgesamt 12b,S g (1.11 Mol)
Diazoessigester getropft. Während der Reaktion wurden zur Reaklionsmischung weitere 2 g BF|-Ätherat gegeben.
Zu Beginn war eine stürmische Stickstoffentwicklung zu beobachten, die später nachließ.
Nach der Zugabe des Diazoessigesters wurde I Stunde bei 0°C, dann 1 Stunde bei Raumtemperatur weitergerührt.
Das Rcakiionsgeniiscli wurde in Äther gelöst. Die
Äther-Phase wurde mit Wasser neutral gewaschen und über Natriumsulfat getrocknet. Nach dem Abdestillieren
des Äthers wurde der verbleibende Rückstand zweimal im Vakuum destilliert. Die bei der /weiten Destillation
im Siedebercich von 120—132°C/0,13 mbar überdestillicrenden
Anteile (n 1S = 1,4365) waren nach dem
Gaschromatogramm zu 87 bis 95% rein. Ausbeute: 56,1 g.
Zur Analyse wurde eine Probe redestilliert. Bei 113-114°C/0,066 mbar wurde ein farbloses öl
(η Ό" = 1,4358) erhallen, das nach dem Gaschromatogramm
zu mehr als 98% aus O-Carbäthoxymeihyl-tartronsäurediäthylester
bestand.
Massenspektrum: m/e = 263 (Molekülmasse)
ni° = 1,4501
Ausbeute 121,3 g (31 % d. Th.).
Die Verbindung war gaschromatographisch rein.
Massenspektrum: m/c = 392 (Molekülmasse).
Analyse:Cii4iaO7(262,26)
ber.: C 50,38, H 6,92, 0 42,70% gef.: C 51,25, H 6,52, O 42,72%.

Im Infrarot-Spektrum war die OH-Bande abwesend.
b) O-Carboxymethyl-iarlronsäure
(Trinatriumsalz)
37,3 g (0,142 Mol) O-Carbäthoxymcthyl-tarlronsäureäthylester
wurden in einer Lösung von 17,1 g (0,427 Mol) NaOH in Wasser gelöst. Nach einstündigem
Stehen bei Raumtemperatur wurde eingeengt und der kristalline Rückstand über P2O5 getrocknet.
Ausbeute: 35,6 g Wasser nach Karl Fischer:9% H2O.

Unter Diazoessigestern ist in erster Linie der Äthylester der Diazoessigsäure zu verstehen, der üblicherweise für präparative Zwecke eingesetzt wird.
