Es ist bekannt, Alkalinitrite, z. B. Natriumnitrit, als Rostinhibitoren in Schmiermitteln zu verwenden. Deren Zusatz hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß hierbei während des Einsatzes der Schmiermittel eine Beschädigung oder ein Abrieb der geschmierten Metalloberflächen bewirkt werden kann. Bei Anwendung geringerer Konzentrationen an Alkalinitrit besitzen die Schmiermittel jedoch keine hinreichende korrosionsverhindernde Eigenschaft.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß Schmiermittel mit wirksamen und brauchbaren korrosions- und rostinhibierenden Eigenschaften hergestellt werden können, wenn sie zusätzlich zu den Alkalinitriten noch ein N-Carboxymethylalkenylbernsteinsäureamid mit 8 bis 35 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkenylrest enthalten. Die synergistische Wirkung dieser Kombination macht es möglich, 'so kleine Mengen des Alkalinitrits und der N-Carboxymethylalkenylbemsteinsäureamide zu verwenden, daß geschmierte metallische Oberflächen durch die Nitritkomponente in der Schmiermittelzusammensetzung nicht abgeschliffen, zerkratzt oder in anderer Weise beschädigt werden, wobei andererseits diese Schmiermittel wirksame korrosionsinhibierende Eigenschaften besitzen.
Als Alkalinitrite werden Natriumnitrit, Kaliumnitrit und Lithiumnitrit, vorzugsweise Natriumnitrit, in einer Menge von 40 bis 70, vorzugsweise 45 bis 65 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Menge der Zusatzmischung, verwendet.
Das N - Carboxymethylalkenylbernsteinsäureamid wird nach verschiedenen bekannten Methoden hergestellt, z. B. indem man ein Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid oder eine Alkenylbernsteinsäure mit Glycin (Aminoessigsäure) in äquimolaren Mengen und unter Entfernung von Wasser bei 90 bis 120° C umsetzt.
Als Alkenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid werden z. B. Octenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid^iisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, 2 - Methylheptenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, 4 - Äthylhexenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Nonenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Decenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Undecenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Dodecenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Triisobutenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Tetrapropenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, Tetradecenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid^exadecenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid, 11 - Tricosenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid und 17-Pentatriacontenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid verwendet. Es können auch die entsprechenden Alkenylbernsteinsäuren verwendet werden. Das N-Carboxymethylalkenylbernsteinsäureamid wird dem Schmiermittel in einer Menge von 30 bis 60, vorzugsweise 35 bis 55 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die Zusatzmischung, zugesetzt.

Das Schmiermittel enthält die Zusatzmischung in einer Menge von 0,2 bis 3,0, vorzugsweise von 0,5 bis 1,5 Gewichtsprozent, das entspricht einem Alkalinitritgehalt von 0,1 bis 2,0 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,3 bis 1,0 Gewichtsprozent, und einem N-Carboxymethyl - alkenylbernsteinsäureamidgehalt von 0,1 bis 1,0, vorzugsweise 0,2 bis 0,5 Gewichtsprozent.
Beim Zusatz der Komponenten zu dem Schmiermittel ist zu beachten, daß, falls es sich um ein wasserhaltiges Schmiermittel handelt, das Alkalinitrit zuerst hinzugegeben wird, während bei einem nicht wasserhaltigen Schmiermittel die Reihenfolge des Zusatzes beliebig ist.
In den Beispielen werden Natriumnitrit und N-Carboxymethyltetrapropenylbernsteinsäureamid (das Reaktionsproduktvon Glycin mitTetrapropenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid) in ein komplexes Calcium-Bleiacetat-Schmierfett (nach USA.-Patentschrift 2 898 297) zugegeben. In jedem Fall werden wäßrige Lösungen von Natriumnitrit verwendet und zu dem Schmierfett zugegeben, während letzteres über einen hinreichenden Zeitraum, um das anwesende Wasser auszutreiben, bei einer Temperatur von 99° C gehalten wird. Das Bernsteinsäureamid wird danach zugesetzt. Die entsprechenden Schmierfettzusammenstellungen werden dem Lagerschutztest (Bearing Protection Test), ASTM-D-1743-Einstufung, unterworfen.

* Einstufung 1: Keine Flecken am Lagergehäuse oder an der Walze (ausgezeichnet). Einstufung 2: Einen bis drei sehr kleine Flecken (genügend). Einstufung 3: Zwei oder mehr große Flecken (schlecht).
Aus den vorstehenden Werten ist ersichtlich, daß gemäß den Beispielen 5 und 6 durch die kombinierte Verwendung des Alkalinitrits und des N-Carboxymethylalkenylbernsteinsäureamids eine synergistische Wirkung erzielt wird.

Claims (1)

  1. Patentanspruch:
    Schmieröl, enthaltend ein Alkalinitrit, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es zusätzlich ein N - Carboxymethylalkenylbernsteinsäureamid mit 8 bis 35 Kohlenstoffatomen im Alkenylrest enthält.
