Zur Schmierung von Ofenförderketten wurden bisher Kohlenwasserstofföle, die eine geringe Menge öl enthielten, benutzt. Infolge der durch die zirkulierende heiße Luft in einem Ofen erzeugten Turbulenz werden feine Teilchen von Staub, Schmutz oder dem Fördermaterial auf den ölbenetzten Kettengliedern und Walzen abgelagert. Da auch das Kohlenwasserstofföl bei der hohen Temperatur des Ofens gespalten wird, bilden sich somit dicke Ablagerungsschichten auf den Ketten, die zu einer starken Belastung und Beanspruchung der Ketten führen. Diese Belastungen können sogar ein Verziehen und Brechen der Kette bewirken.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß diese Ablagerungen nicht bzw. nur in geringem Umfang eintreten, wenn eine Wasser-in-öl-Emulsion als Mittel zum Schmieren von Ofenförderketten verwendet wird, die aus 0,1 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent eines üblichen Emulgiermittels, 0,1 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent eines üblichen Hochtemperaturstabilisierungsmittels und 0,5 bis 5 Gewichtsprozent eines festen Schmiermittels in feinteiliger Form besteht, wobei Emulgiermittel und Stabilistermittel zusammen eine HLB-Zahl von 2 bis 8 haben, die ölphase aus 85 bis 30 Gewichtsprozent eines Kohlenwasserstoffs mit einer Viskosität von 50 bis 1000 SUS bei 38° C besteht und der Wassergehalt 15 bis 70 Gewichtsprozent beträgt.
Das beanspruchte Schmiermittel eignet sich für Ausrüstungen, die erhöhten Temperaturen ausgesetzt sind, insbesondere für Ketten und andere Bauteile in staubigen öfen, die über lange Zeiträume bei Temperaturen von 204 bis 427° C betrieben werden. Die durch das Emulgiermittel und das Stabilisiermittel gebildete Emulsion sollte eine HLB-Zahl von allgemein etwa 2 bis 8 und vorzugsweise etwa 3 bis 7 haben. Das Emulgiermittel und das Stabilisiermittel können aus den Gruppen der nichtionischen, anionischen oder kationischen oberflächenaktiven Mittel ausgewählt werden.
Das verwendete öl ist ein Kohlenwasserstofföl mit einem Viskositätsbereich von 50 bis 1000 SUS bei 38° C. Jedoch wird der Viskositätsbereich von 80 bis 150 SUS bei 38° C bevorzugt. Das Öl verdampft und krackt im allgemeinen während der Schmierung der Ofenförderketten, und daher sollte der Conradson-Verkokungsrückstand allgemein weniger als etwa 0,25 °/u und vorzugsweise weniger als 0,05 %> betragen. Die ölphase der Emulsion, einschließlich des Emulgiermittels, soll etwa 85 bis 30 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise etwa 70 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent, betragen. Eine besonders gute Schmiermittelzusammenstellun» wird erhalten, wenn man ein Weißöl Mittel zum Schmieren von Ofenförderketten

Das Emulgiermittel kann eine anionische, nichtionische oder kationische Verbindung mit einer HLB-Zähl von etwa 2 bis 6, vorzugsweise 3 bis 5, sein. Verbindungen des anionischen Typs, die sich als besonders brauchbar erwiesen haben, sind oleophile Erdalkalipetroleumsulfonate, oleophile Erdalkali· naphthalinsulfonate, oleophile Erdalkali-C.,-CrK-AI~ kylphenate und Kalium-, Natrium-, Ammonium-. Calcium-, Barium-, Strontium- und Lithiumsalze von sauren Phosphaten, wobei diese Phosphate teilweise durch Veresterung mit etwa CH-C24-Alkylphenolen und Äthylenoxydderivaten (2 bis 12 Mol Äthylenoxyd) dieser Phenole neutralisiert worden sind. Verbindungen des nichtionischen Typs, die sich als brauchbar gezeigt haben, sind Teilester von Polyolen und C10-C24-FeHSaUrCn oder Teilester von Polyolen oder Wachssäuren, die durch Oxydation einer Mischung von Erdölkohlenwasserstoffen mit einer mittleren Kohlenstoffkettenlänge im Bereich von Q0 bis C50 hergestellt worden sind; solche Mischungen sind auch als Petrolatum oder mikrokristallines Wachs bekannt. Besonders gute Ergebnisse sind mit Teilestern von Sorbit und seinem Dehydratationsprodukt, z. B. Sorbitmonooleat, erhalten worden. Diese Emulgiermittel werden in einer Menge von 0,1 bis 0,5 Gewichtsprozent, vorzugsweise 0,3 bis 3,0 Gewichtsprozent, verwendet.
