Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Schmiermitteln,
die zum Schmieren bei hohen Drucken, erhöhten Temperaturen und hohen Geschwindigkeiten
geeignet sind.
Es wurde gefunden, daß organische, cyclische Verbindungen, welche Gruppen enthalten,
in denen an Sauerstoff und Halogen gebundener Schwefel vorhanden ist, beim Zusatz zu Schmiermitteln, wie mineralischen
Schmierölen, diesen sogenannte Hochdruckeigenschaften verleihen. Diese Eigenschaften
sind wesentlich besser, als die Eigenschaften solcher Schmiermittel, denen, wie dieses für
diesen Zweck schon vorgeschlagen ist, schwefel- und bzw. oder chlorhaltige Substanzen
einverleibt sind.
Gruppen, in denen der Schwefel an Sauerstoff und Halogen gebunden ist, können u. a.
die Sulfohalogenidgruppe (SO2HaI) und die
Sulfinhalogenidgruppe (SOHaI) darstellen. Im übrigen können noch andere Radikale,
wie -NH2, —OH, -COOH, —Halogen
u. dgl., gegebenenfalls vorhanden sein, obwohl dieses kein wesentliches Merkmal der Erfindung
darstellt.
Die betreffenden Stoffe werden in der Regel dem Schmiermittel in kleinen Mengen zugesetzt,
d. h. in der Größenordnung von einigen wenigen Prozenten und sollen vorzugsweise
in dem Schmiermittel löslich sein.
Es kann von Wichtigkeit sein, außer dem Zusatz solcher Stoffe, die dem Schmiermittel
sogenannte Hochdruckeigenschaften verleihen, auch noch andere Stoffe zuzusetzen, um das
Schmiermittel in anderer Hinsicht zu verbessern. So können etwa gleichzeitig oxydationsverhindernde
Mittel, Mittel zur Verbesserung der sogenannten Schlüpfrigkeit, Mittel zur Verhinderung der Korrosion, falls
das Öl mit Metallen in Berührung kommt, u.dgl. zugesetzt werden. Die gemäß der Erfindung
zu verwendenden Stoffe können beispielsweise häufig mit Vorteil mit höher molekularen Polycarbonsäuren vereinigt werden,
welche, wie gefunden wurde, außerordentlich geeignet sind, um eine Korrosion zu verhindern. Eine derartige Vereinigung
oder ein entsprechend wirkender Zusatz wird dann sehr erwünscht, wenn das Schmiermittel
mit Wasser in Berührung kommt, weil in diesem Fall die Sulfohalogenid- oder Sulfinhalogenidverbindungen
sich unter Bildung korrodierender Produkte zersetzen können.
Die folgende Zahlentafel erläutert die Brauchbarkeit der entsprechenden Stoffe zur
Bildung von Hochdruckschmierfiltnen, wobei verschiedene Sulfohalogenide dem Schmieröl
zugesetzt sind, während der Druck, bei dem ein Festfressen eintritt, sowohl wie auch der
Durchmesser der sich abnutzenden Oberfläche mit Hilfe einer Untersuchung in dem Vier-Kugel-Apparat
gemessen wurde. Eine Beschreibung dieses Apparates hat G. D. Boerlage
in der Zeitschrift »Engineering« unter dem 14. IuIi 1933 gegeben.

Um zu beweisen, daß Gruppen, in denen der Schwefel an Sauerstoff und Halogen gebunden
ist, hinsichtlich der Hochdruckeigenschäften überlegen sind, kann gesagt werden,
daß der Methylester der Parachlorbenzolsulfosäure und der Chloräthylester der Benzolsulfosäure,
deren Bruttozusammensetzung praktisch die gleiche wie die von Toluolsulfochlorid
ist, beim Zusatz zu dem gleichen Schmieröl in Mengen von 2°/0 und bei ihrer
Verwendung entsprechend der obigen Tabelle einen Druck, bei dem ein Festfressen eintritt,

Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verwendung von an sich bekannten cyclisehen Verbindungen, welche Gruppen enthalten, in denen der Schwefel an Sauerstoff und Halogen gebunden ist, als Zusatz zu Schmiermitteln für hohe Drucke, erhöhte Temperaturen und hohe Geschwindigkeiten.
