Abstract

Lubricants for use at high pressures are formed by adding to known lubricants a few per cent of organic cyclic compounds containing groups in which sulphur occurs bound to oxygen and halogen, e.g. the groups SO2Hal and SOHal. Other radicals such as NH2, OH, COOH and halogen may be present in the compounds. Compounds specified are ortho and para toluene sulphochloride, para toluene sulphobromide and chlorbenzene sulphochloride. Anti-oxidants, substances for improving the oiliness, and substances for checking corrosion, e.g. high molecular weight polycarboxylic acids may also be added.
