Die Erfindung betrifft die Herstellung von als Schmiermittelzusätze verwendbaren neutralisierten
Reaktionsprodukten aus Phosphorsulfid und Kohlenwasserstoffen mit einem hohen Verhältnis von Erdalkalimetall
zu Phosphor, die mit polymeren Fettsäuren praktisch ohne Erhöhung der Viskosität verträglich
sind.
Viele neuzeitliche Automotoren sind mit hydraulischen Ventilhebern ausgestattet, wodurch der Wirkungsgrad
des Motors erhöht wird und dieser weicher und elastischer läuft. Die hydraulischen Ventilheber
werden mit einer Nockenwelle gesteuert, um die Drehbewegung der Nocken in eine hin- und hergehende
Bewegung, durch die die Ventile geöffnet und geschlossen werden, umzuwandeln. Die Basis des Ventilhebers
wird als Nockenteller bezeichnet. Die Hydraulik des Ventilhebers weist einen Kolben- der sich
innen in dem Zylinder des Ventilhebers befindet, sowie ein federbetätigtes Kugelrückschlagventil auf.
Um eine größere und besser ausnutzbare Motorenleistung zu erhalten, werden größere Ventile, höhere
Ventüfederdrücke und Nockenwellen, die ein schnelleres
Öffnen und Schließen verursachen, angewandt. Bei der Arbeitsweise solcher Motoren ist ein großes
Zunehmen der Drücke zu verzeichnen, wodurch die Nocken mit den Seiten der Ventilheber in Berührung
kommen und eine übermäßig starke Abnutzung der Nocken und Heber ebenso wie ein Aufrauhen der
Nockenteller die Folge ist.
Diese Abnutzung und/oder Aufrauhung kann durch die bekannten Schmiermittel für die Kurbelgehäuse
von Verbrennungsmaschinen nicht ausreichend verhindert werden.
Überraschenderweise sind die Eigenschaften, die eine Abnutzung von Kolbenring und Zylinder verhindern,
nicht unumgänglich dieselben wie die, welche erforderlich sind, um einer Abnutzung von Nocken
und Hebern wirksam zu begegnen.
Das Problem wird weiter auch dadurch schwieriger, als zur Herstellung von Nockenwellen und Ventilhebern
verschiedene Materialien verwendet werden, da in zahlreichen Motoren verschiedene Metalle und
Metallzusammensetzungen jeweils für diese Nockenwellen und Ventilheber angewandt werden. Wenn
Nockenwelle und Ventilheber aus verschiedenen Metallen hergestellt werden, sind ganz bestimmte
Antiabnutzungszusätze in dem Schmiermittel erforderlich, so daß diese nur für einige Metallkombinationen
von Nocken und Heber wirksam, jedoch unwirksam bei anderen Metallkombinationen sind.
Darüber hinaus können bereits sehr kleine Ablagerungsmengen, wie z. B. von Harz und/oder Rost, den

Dieses Aufrauhen und/oder die Abnutzung des Nockentellers und das Verstopfen der hydraulischen
Ventilheber können durch Verwendung eines Schmieröls wirksam verhindert werden, welches geringe
Mengen eines mit Erdalkali neutralisierten Reaktionsprodukts aus einem Phosphorsulfid und einem Kohlen-
Wasserstoff zusammen mit einer polymeren Fettsäure enthält, z. B. polymeren Linolsäuren, wie Linolsäure
und Dinieren, und Gemische polymerer Fettsäuren, wie in der USA.-Patentschrift 2 833 713 beschrieben
ist. Die in dieser Patentschrift angegebene Kombination von Zusatzstoffen ist zwar wirksam, wenn sie
mit praktisch neutralen erdalkalihaltigen Reaktionsprodukten aus Phosphorsulfiden und Kohlenwasserstoffen
verwendet wird, doch sinkt die Wirksamkeit ab, wenn die polymeren Fettsäuren in Kombination
mit einem erdalkalihaltigen Reaktionsprodukt aus einem Phosphorsulfid und einem Kohlenwasserstoff

Aus der vorstehenden Tabelle ergibt sich, daß die erfindungsgemäß mit Kohlendioxyd behandelten alkalischen
erdalkalihaltigen Phosphorsulfid-Kohlenwasserstoff-Reaktionsprodukte
nach dem Vermischen mit polymeren Fettsäuren hohen Molekulargewichts bei Zimmertemperatur flüssig sind, wohingegen ohne
eine derartige Kohlendioxydbehandlung sich bei Zimmertemperaturen feste Gemische ausbilden.
Die Kombination aus dem erfindungsgemäß hergestellten erdalkalihaltigen Phosphorsulfid-Kohlenwasserstoff-Reaktionsprodukt
und der oben definierten polymeren mehrbasischen Carbonsäure hohen Molekulargewichts
ist ein sehr guter Zusatz für Schmierölzusammensetzungen auf Kohlenwasserstoffbasis, beispielsweise
Schmieröle für Verbrennungskraftmaschinen.
Für die Verwendung in Schmiermitteln für Verbrennungskraftmaschinen
werden etwa 1 bis etwa 20% des erdalkalihaltigen Reaktionsproduktes- aus
einem Phosphorsulfid und einem Kohlenwasserstoff und etwa 0,1 bis etwa 1,0% der polymeren Säure eingesetzt.
Solche Schmiermittel können geringe Mengen anderer Zusätze, wie sie üblicherweise für derartige
Zubereitungen verwendet werden, enthalten, z. B. Metallsalze von Dialkyldithiophosphorsäuren wie
Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat, Mittel zur Verbesserung des Viskositätsindexes, wie Polybutene mit hohem
Molekulargewicht, Polymethacrylat, Mittel zur Erniedrigung des Stockpunktes, wie Kondensationsprodukte aus chloriertem Paraffinwachs und Naphthalin,
und die Abnutzung verhindernde Mittel.
Kohlenwasserstofföle, die die Kombination aus einem erfindungsgemäß hergestellten mit Kohlendioxyd
behandelten erdalkalihaltigen Phosphorsulfidreaktionsprodukt und einer polymeren mehrbasischen
Carbonsäure hohen Molekulargewichts und einer geringen Menge Wasser enthalten, zeigen verbesserte
Rostschutzeigenschaften. Die Angaben der Tabelle II zeigen die Verbesserung der Rostschutzeigenschaften,
die mit den erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Produkten erzielt werden.

* Bei dem beschleunigten Rostversuch wird eine Zusammensetzung verwendet, die aus 1 °/0 einer Mischung der angegebenen
Zusätze, 29°/o einer solventextrahierten »S AE-10«-
Mineralölbasis und 70 % Naphtha besteht.
Bei dem vorstehend angegebenen beschleunigten Rostversuch wird eine Stahlplatte von 5 · 7 cm verwendet,
die mit einem Sanddstrahler gereinigt und dann
1 Minute in die oben angegebene Mischung aus Öl, Naphtha und Zusatz getaucht wird. Danach läßt man
die Platte bei Zimmertemperatur 30 Minuten abtropfen und taucht sie dann in destilliertes Wasser von
38° C ein. Die Platte wird als unbrauchbar angesehen, wenn etwa 0,1% der Gesamtfläche Rostflecken aufweisen.
Die im vorstehenden angegebenen Prozentsätze beziehen sich auf das Gewicht, wenn nichts anderes
angegeben ist.
Claims (2)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Derivaten metallhaltiger, hydrolysierter, phosphorgeschwefelter
Kohlenwasserstoffe durch Umsetzen von Phosphorsulfiden mit normalerweise nicht gasförmigen

Kohlenwasserstoffen bei 66 bis 315°C, Hydrolysieren
der erhaltenen Stoffe und Umsetzen der Hydrolysate mit einer basischen Erdalkaliverbindung,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man das überschüssige Alkalinität aufweisende Reaktionsprodukt bei 38 bis 177° C mit Kohlendioxyd
behandelt, bis seine maßanalytisch mit Phenolphthalein als Indikator bestimmte Alkalinität,
ausgedrückt in Milligramm NaOH je Gramm Produkt, etwa Null beträgt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Kohlendioxydbehandlung
in Gegenwart von etwa 0,1 bis 5°/o Wasser durchführt.
