Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a una pelicula de UHMWPE que tiene una resistencia a la tension de al menos 2.0 GPa, una energia de tension para romperse de al menos 30 J/g, un PM de al menos 500000 gramos/mol, y una proporcion PM/Mn de al menos 6. La pelicula puede ser manufacturada a través de un proceso que comprende someter un UHMWPE inicial con un peso promedio del peso molecular de al menos 500000 gramos/mol, un modulo elastico de corte determinado directamente después de la fusion a 160°C de a lo mas 0.9 MPa, y una proporcion PM/Mn de a lo mas 6 a una etapa de compactacion y una etapa de estiramiento bajo condiciones tales que en ning·n punto durante el procesamiento del polimero su temperatura es elevada a un valor por encima de su punto de fusion. Aplicaciones apropiadas incluyen aplicaciones balisticas, cuerdas, cables, redes, telas, y aplicaciones protectoras. 1.- Una pelicula de UHMWPE que tiene una resistencia a la tension de al menos 2.0 GPa, una energia de tension para romperse de al menos 30 J/g, un PM de al menos 500000 gramos/mol, y una proporcion PM/Mn de al menos 6. 2.- La pelicula de UHMWPE de la reivindicacion 1 que tiene una Resistencia a la tension de al menos 2.5 GPa, particularmente de al menos 3.0 GPa, mas particularmente al menos 3.5 GPa, o incluso al menos 4.0 GPa. 3.- La pelicula de UHMWPE de la reivindicacion 1 o 2 que tiene una energia de tension para romperse de al menos 35 J/g, particularmente de al menos 40 J/g GPa, mas particularmente de al menos 50 J/g GPa.
