本发明涉及内燃机中的滑动件,特别是活塞环。
背景技术
燃料消耗量在降低内燃机的二氧化碳排放中起着非常重要的作用。燃料消耗量主要受到发动机内的摩擦损耗的影响,特别是在如活塞环处的活塞区中。因此存在对于在整个使用寿命中表现出尽可能有利的摩擦性能的内燃机内的滑动件、尤其是活塞环的需求。对于整个使用寿命,需要特别考虑磨合性能、润滑油缺乏的可能性以及潜在的烧焦,这些都会导致摩擦学上特征的改变。
在上述领域中,硬质材料的PVD涂层是公知的,虽然其具有良好的耐磨性,但是仍需要在摩擦系数上有所改进。
DE 10 2005 063 123 B3公开了一种层结构,其由外到内包括:磨合层、粘合层和磨损保护层。然而,显而易见的是,能够在其使用寿命中对摩擦特征的性能作出进一步的改善。
US 6,528,115涉及一种具有碳涂层的滑动件,所述碳涂层具有变化的SP2/SP3比率,特别是所述比率可从基材向外减小,并且之后再增加到涂层外侧。
发明内容
本发明的目的在于提供一种用于内燃机的滑动件,特别是一种活塞环,其具有在尽可能长的时间周期中可靠地保持有利的摩擦特征的涂层。
通过权利要求1所描述的滑动件可实现这个目的。
因此,所述滑动件包括:ta-C(非晶四面体碳)型DLC(Diamond-Like-Carbon)涂层,其具有随着厚度变化的残余应力。换句话说,至少一个残余应力梯度横跨涂层的厚度而形成。“DLC”指的是类金刚石。所述ta-C型的特征在于四面体结构,无氢,并且在如德国工程师协会标准指南(VDI guideline)2840中被定义。这种类型的层由于下述原因提供了良好的摩擦性能以及特别长的使用寿命。
首先,所述残余应力随着层的厚度的变化允许产生较大的层厚度,如大于10μm,而不会带来关于层的粘合和脆度的问题。其原因在于,例如,经发现,层中的低残余应力区域对于整个层合成物(layercomposite)、也即对于多层涂层提供了局部的松弛或者应力消除。这样,当经受如在内燃机中使用时发生的较高的切应力时,不会超过DLC涂层的屈服点。因此,这是限制涂层磨损的有效方法。
对于涂层的既非完全外侧也非完全内侧的中央区域,已经证明负残余应力梯度是有效的,优选的是其小于内侧的负残余应力梯度,也即小于在涂层与基底材料结合处的区域中的负残余应力梯度。这就意味着残余应力的最高水平位于朝涂层外侧相对较远处,这意味着有利的性能。结合上下文,所述中央区域具有比内部区域更大的层厚度,优选的具有明显较大的大约为三倍的厚度。
本发明的滑动件的优选的实施例在随后的权利要求中被描述。
对于滑动件中涂层和基底材料的连接处,在从外侧向内侧观察时,已经证明在滑动件的涂层的该区域即内部区域中,负残余应力梯度是有益的。换句话说,所述残余应力朝向基底材料减少到较低值,因此实现了对基底材料的有利的应力过渡以及良好的层的粘合。
当从外侧向内侧观察时,对于外部区域,已经证明正残余应力梯度为有益的。换句话说,在涂层的外表面处的残余应力处于相对低的水平,已经证明这对于有利的磨合性能是有益的。由此,优选的是残余应力朝向内侧急剧增大,从而实现上述效果。
特别是在预期有极高的表面压力的滑动件的情况下,有利的是在最内部区域、即直接邻接基底材料处具有恒定低水平的残余应力分布。
此外,所述磨合性能还可通过在涂层外侧处的同样的恒定且相对低水平的残余应力分布而进一步改善,但是优选的是处于比最内部区域的水平高的水平。
在同样在此描述的可选实施例中,已经证明具有广泛地交替的残余应力的中央区域对于避免涂层中的裂纹扩散是有益的。此处低残余应力区的尺寸可短于、等于或长于高残余应力区的尺寸。
可能的周期值,即从低残余应力区域的起点、穿过高残余应力区域、直到下一低残余应力区域的起点的厚度为0.01至1μm。
所述方法(measures)允许产生具有10μm或更大厚度的涂层,提供了有利的磨合性能,而且具有足够的层厚度,以确保涂层具有较长使用寿命,在承受不可避免的磨损后仍具有有利的摩擦特征。
为了产生不同的残余应力,例如,有益的是改变sp2杂化碳原子和sp3杂化碳原子之间的比率。特别是,压缩残余应力可通过增大sp3含量而增大,从而能够形成残余应力梯度。
当密度增大时同样适用,并且因此通过改变层的横跨其厚度的密度,可以设想横跨层厚度的残余应力可以以有益的方式改变。
最后,同样可以考虑改变层的横跨其厚度的硬度,因为更大的硬度会产生更大的压缩残余应力,并且因此能够设定期望的残余应力梯度。

具体实施方式
图中分别示出了横跨相应的DLC涂层的厚度的残余应力。涂层的最外部区域被示出在图的左侧,而涂层的最内部区域被示出在右侧。换句话说,诸如钢铁或铸铁的基底材料位于右侧,邻接具有所示的残余应力的涂层。
图1中的实施例包括负残余应力梯度(由外侧向内侧),从涂层的内部区域或者“基底”(区域III)开始。换句话说,在涂层与基底材料之间的连接处的残余应力处于特别低的水平,以实现良好的应力过渡以及良好的涂层的粘合。在中央区域(区域II)中,残余应力持续增长,但是以较低的梯度,直至其最高水平。在外部(区域I)处,残余应力急剧下降,从而形成了由外向内的大的正残余应力梯度,这产生了有利的磨合性能。中央区域II显著地大于内部区域III和/或外部区域I。优选地,中央区域II大于其余的区域I和III二者。这两个区域I和III可具有近似相同的厚度。中央区域II的厚度优选地显著大于两个其余区域的厚度,特别是大约为其余区域I和III中的每个的厚度的三倍。
在图2的实施例中,在最外部区域I中的残余应力最初处于恒定的低水平,并在之后急剧上升(区域I.2)。这提供了在区域I和残余应力广泛交替的区域II之间适当的过渡。已经表明,恒定的高水平的残余应力状态容易裂开,特别是在切应力的负荷下时。在区域II中的交替的残余应力禁止了裂纹的扩散。作为示例,在该区域内的周期可以在0.1μm至1μm的范围之内。以与图1的实施例相似的方式,存在面向基底材料的高的负残余应力梯度的邻接区域III.1(图的右侧),以及直接邻接到基底材料的恒定的低水平残余应力的区域III.2,以提供对于基底材料的良好的应力过渡并实现良好的粘合。特别地,区域III.2中的残余应力水平可以低于最外部区域I.1,并且在区域II中的残余应力可在绝对最大水平和稍位于区域I的水平之上的水平之间变化。
还应补充的是,在两幅附图中从点D到点C延伸的区域I大致上彼此对应。同样适用于中央区域II(即点C和点B之间)以及相应的区域III(即点B和点A之间)。特别的,上述提及的厚度比率也同样适用于图2。最后,应该注意的是,上述每个实施例的特征在不相矛盾的情况下可相互组合。

Claims (9)

1.一种用于内燃机的滑动件,特别是一种活塞环,包括ta-C型DLC涂层,所述涂层具有随着其厚度变化的残余应力,从而包括至少一个残余应力梯度,其特征在于,从外侧向内侧观察时,负残余应力梯度形成在涂层的中央区域(II)中,所述梯度优选地小于内部区域(III)中的梯度,并且所述内部区域(III)具有小于所述中央区域(II)的层厚度。
2.根据权利要求1所述的滑动件,其特征在于,从外侧向内侧观察时,负残余应力梯度形成在面向基底材料的区域(III)中。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的滑动件,其特征在于,从外侧向内侧观察时,正残余应力梯度形成在外部区域(I)中。
4.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,所述涂层的最内部区域(III.2)和/或最外部区域(I.1)中的残余应力大体上是恒定的。
5.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,所述涂层的最内部区域中的残余应力低于在其最外部区域中的残余应力。
6.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,所述涂层为至少10μm厚。
7.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,具有残余应力梯度的至少一个区域包括在sp2杂化碳原子和sp3杂化碳原子之间的变化的比率。
8.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,具有残余应力梯度的至少一个区域包括变化的层密度。
9.根据前述权利要求中的任一项所述的滑动件,其特征在于,具有残余应力梯度的至少一个区域包括变化的层硬度。
