I>,</I> titi canal à section annulaire h.
Le fonctionnement est le suivant: En position normale de l'obturateur p et pendant la marche au ralenti la dépression créée par le jeu du moteur dans le tuyau d'aspiration du mélange combustible, se fait sentir principalement, vit que le papillon est fermé, dans le conduit 11 et par suite dans le canal h';
2), le canal<I>t,</I> les trous<I>a</I> et la section annulaire h.
Shutter for idling devices in carburettors. The object of the present invention is a shutter for idling devices in the carburetors of internal combustion engines, in particular in gasoline carburetors.
It is known that the currently known carburettors, that is to say the organs (the purpose of which is to introduce into the cylinders of internal combustion engines the liquid fuel in the form of., Mist ", comprise a small tank in which a needle float keeps the level constant ("constant level tank \), tank which supplies, on the one hand, you) .. main nozzle" and, on the other hand, a, compensating nozzle ",
the latter being intended to automatically maintain the proportion of air and gasoline in the sensitive fuel mixture constant. And) in addition, these same carburettors are often fitted with a so-called "idling" device, such as for example that described in French patent No. 468810 granted to the applicant company dated May 3, 1913. </B> This idling device consists of an additional jet which.
By its construction, it delivers the combustible mixture in the engine suction pipe only when the throttle valve to which the engine speed is regulated is almost completely closed. By operating the shutter which will be described, it is possible to increase the negative pressure on said idle jet "at will" and, consequently, to increase its flow rate, for example to facilitate the starting of the cold engine.
This same maneuver also has the effect of increasing the flow rate of the compensating nozzle mentioned above.
The appended drawing represents one embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example and applied to a gasoline carburetor.
Fi-. 1 is a vertical section through the idle axis.
Fig. '? and 3 are cross sections along A-_1 of fig. 1, the shutter being, in fig. ?. in normal running position, and in fig. 3, as well as in fig. 1, in the maneuvering position; the idle parts were not shown.
In these figures, (a is a vertical well drilled in the reinforced wall u of a constant-level tank with which it communicates by a pipe .j. In the bottom of this well is screwed titi plug i drilled with a calibrated hole L which constitutes the well-known "compensating nozzle", nozzle which feeds a black compensating jet shown in the drawing by titi led <I> v. </I> Inside this same well <I> a </ I> is found,
screwed to the tail na 'of a plug -m. which closes it at the upper part, titi man chon <I> 1, </I> reinforced in <I> l '</I> for the thread, drilled with holes it and from which is suspended a fitting Ic. The latter has at the upper part a cone forming, with a countersunk conical hollow in the tail in <I>, </I> titi channel with annular section h. The nozzle k is.
in addition, pierced, in its length, with a finished channel, in the conical part, by a duct of small diameter. which constitutes the "idle jet '\. The gasoline delivered by this nozzle passes into a channel h', pierced in the plug m, and then enters the inlet of a conduit 11 which opens, at the other end, at night, in the engine suction pipe, in front of the edge of the adjustment throttle, when the latter is closed In the three figures, this is a small cylinder which will be designated hereinafter by "a.bore-1, communicating with the cc well by a channel t.
In this bore can slide a shutter piston p (, .l'obtrirateur4 'properly speaking) which is actuated by hand or by foot, from the apron of the car or from the front of the engine, by means of a rod or cable attached to eyelet e, eyelet which can be used to limit its travel in both directions.
This piston p is constantly pushed out of the bore by a spring r; it is hollowed out of a small chamber s whose wall is pierced with a hole f of small diameter, which, in the normal position (fig. 2) is closed by the wall of the bore, but which, in position operating mechanism (fig. 3) is located opposite one of several orifices drilled in the latter.
The diameter of the holes d is sufficient for that. in the normal position of the shutter p, they can give passage to the volume of air delivered by the well a in all circumstances, without. create a noticeable depression in the latter.
The operation is as follows: In the normal position of the shutter p and during idling the depression created by the play of the engine in the suction pipe of the fuel mixture, is mainly felt, saw that the throttle is closed, in conduit 11 and consequently in channel h ';
there is therefore aspiration, on the one hand, of the gasoline coming from j by b, Ic and y, on the other hand, of air introduced by the orifices d (fig. 2), the channel <I> t , </I> the holes <I> a </I> and the annular section h. -Gti very intimate mixture of air and gasoline, the richness of which depends on the diameter of the hole, g, is therefore supplied to the engine. But if, moving the eyelet e to the right.
the shutter is brought to its extreme position (fig. 1 and 3), the holes d are completely closed, except for the one opposite which the small-diameter orifice f is placed. As a result, the depression on the gasoline, which was limited in the first case by the proximity of wide communications with the free air, increases, the hole f having a smaller section than the annular section h.
The quantity of air introduced by said orifice f being small, it can be seen that the engine is supplied, on the one hand by the idle speed g and, on the other hand, by the compensator b of a rich and abundant mixture, which makes it easier, for example, to start the engine, even when cold.
It can also be seen that the richness of the mixture and the low pressure at idle speed can be adjusted at will by bringing the shutter p to intermediate positions between the two ends of its stroke.
