Carburetor-elevator. The present invention relates to a carburettor-elevator having a closed constant level tank feeding the jets by the action of a vacuum prevailing in the carburetor body.
Carburettors are known in which the constant-level vessel comprises calibrations and air and vacuum fuel channels necessary for the formation of a rich mixture, the assembly being able to be placed more or less against the bottom of the gasket. suction pipe, suitable conduits being provided to channel the rich mixture to the carburetor body regulating the admission of gases, which is fixed to said pipe. Such a carburetor is, for example, described in French patent no. 780282, of January 12, 1934, by the same inventor.
It facilitates the raising of the co # mhustible from the main tank to the constant level tank.
The carburettor-lift forming the subject of the invention is characterized in that it comprises an automatic air intake regulator, ensuring all the qualities of flexibility and sensitivity necessary for the precision of regulation of the air. air inlet, as well as a recovery pump, capable of supplementing the automatic action of said air inlet regulator at the time of recovery.
In a preferred embodiment of the carburetor according to the invention, the constant level vessel forming the rich mixture is placed far below the carburetor body fixed to the intake nozzle, this arrangement, which facilitates as has been said, the increase in fuel, on the other hand, in known carburetors, making pick-ups more difficult during abrupt changes in engine speed.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the carburettor-elevator forming the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a sectional view of the constant level vessel that said said; carburetor; Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the body pro prement called the carburetor, intended to be fixed on the. engine suction pipe.
As seen at, fi-. 1, clans Iii tank 1 at ronsta.nt level is a float which controls a needle 3 by pivoting a lever 4 around an axis 5. A chamber 6 contains a rich carburetion device, consisting of a nozzle î screwed into a nozzle holder 8 which is surmounted by a tube 8.
On the nozzle holder 8 is mounted an foam concentrate 10, the lower end of which is hexagonal. allows easy dismantling of the nozzle, and the upper end of which is connected by a pipe 11 to the carburetor body (.fie ,. 2) fixed to the aspiration pipe of the engine. A connector 12, placed above the tank 1, receives. a vacuum tube 13 also connected. on the other hand, to the carburetor body. Finally, a connector 14.
placed at the bottom of the. tank 1, supplies ca.rbti- rant a tube 15, which is connected by a connector 20 (fig. 2) to a pump ac colée to the carburetor body.
As shown in. fig. ?, the carburettor body has a butterfly valve, 16, a diffuser 17 with three connectors 1 S, 19 and 20 connected to. the. conaiatit level tank, shown in fig. 1, by the appropriate length pipes 11, 13 and 15.
An air intake regulator has a piston 21 controlling a shutter 22 and connected to. a cylinder 23 by means of a part 4 having in cross section the shape of a U and constituted either by a suitable leather or by any flexible material capable of withstanding. heat and various fuels. During the. engine running. the depression prevailing in the diffuser 17 is. transmitted in the cylinder 23 and on the drive face said piston 21 by a tube? 5 on which is mounted the shutter 22.
At this time, the flexible part 24 ensures the tight connection between the pis ton and the cylinder by unwinding on itself during the opening and closing movements of the shutter, and this without oppose any own resistance, the locus of the points (the unwinding being a cylindrical surface arranged between the piston and its cylinder and whose diameter corresponds to the average diameter between the diameters of the piston and the cylinder.
On the other hand, a pump body 26 is attached to the carburetor body and it comintinates with the interior of the latter by an idle jet 27. a channel 28 and an orifice (the outlet 29. Finally, it communicates with the constant level tank by a wedge channel 30 carrying a check valve 31 and connected to the pipe 15.
Levers 32 and 33, integral with a movable stop 34 which slides by a druid 35 by compressing a spring 36, constitute an elastic coupling. of a piston 37 of this pump with the accelerator control.
The operation is as follows: During idling, the control throttle 16 is almost closed. the. vacuum is transmitted in the pump body? 6 through the orifice 29, the channel '38 and the idle jet 27, and sucks through the channel 30, the valve 31 and; the pipe 15, the fuel contained in the constant level tank.
When opening the throttle valve, the levers 32 and 33, integral with the accelerator, will drive the movable stop 34 towards the inside of the pump body 26 and the spring 36, being compressed, will drive out. in turn the piston 37 of the pump at a speed which will be determined by the flow of the contents of the pump body through the slowdown nozzle 27. The valve 31 will be applied to either seat by the pressure of the piston and will oppose when the fuel returns to the constant level tank.
