Additional patent to the main patent No. 301811. Process for the production of a cobalt-containing azo carbate. It has been found that a nice, valuable cobalt-containing azo dye can be obtained by using a mixture of the two

correspond, allows cobalt-releasing agents to act in such a way that a cobalt-containing azo dye is formed which contains one molecule of each of the two starting monoazo dyes bonded to a cobalt atom in a complex.
The new cobalt-containing dye forms a dark powder that dissolves in water and dyes wool from a neutral or slightly acidic bath in red-brown shades.
The two monoazo dyes used as starting materials in the present process can be prepared by methods known per se by adding diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid-N, N-di- (ss-oxyethyl) amide and 2-oxynaphthalene and doped 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid-1 az isopropylamide and ethylacetic anilide each coupling in an alkaline medium.
Monoazo dyes which have the following formulas: Treatment with the cobalt-releasing agents is carried out according to the present method. In such a way that a cobalt-containing dye is produced that contains less than one atom of cobalt in complex bonds per molecule of dye.
Accordingly, the metallization is expediently carried out with those cobalt-releasing agents and by those methods which, experience has shown, give complex cobalt compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one atom of cobalt on a molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the metallization in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
Simple cobalt salts, such as cobalt sulphate or cobalt acetate, and optionally also freshly precipitated cobalt hydroxide, are expediently used as the cobalt-releasing agent. example:
21.5 parts of the dye from diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonsäLire-N, N-di - (ss oxyäthyl) amide and 2-oxynaphthalene and 0.9 parts of the dye from diazotized 2 -Amino -1- oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid isopropyl a.mid and acetoacetic anilide, both dyes in the form of a moist paste (filter cake), are dissolved in 800 parts of water with the addition of 8.0 parts of sodium hydroxide.
The mixture is now heated to 80 and 110 parts of a cobalt sulfate solution with a cobalt content of 2.95% are added. After brief heating to 85 is. the complex formation ends. The dye is deposited by neutralizing with dilute acetic acid and adding sodium chloride.
