Additional patent to main patent no. 302153. Process for the production of a cobalt-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, cobalt-containing azo dye can be obtained by using a mixture of the two monoazo dyes which follow the formulas
EMI0001.0009
correspond, lets the cobalt-releasing agent act in such a way that an azo dye containing cobalt is formed,
one molecule of each of the two output monoazo dyes attached to a cobalt atom. contains complex bound.
The new cobalt-containing dye forms. a dark powder that dissolves in water and dyes wool from neutral or slightly acidic baths in brownish-red shades.
The two monoazo dyes used as starting materials in the present process can be prepared by methods known per se, by adding diazotized 2-am; ino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methylamide and 2-oxynaphthalene and diazotized 4-chloro-2-amino-1 -oxybenzo, 1 and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-3'-sulfonic acid amide each in alkaline medium couples.
The treatment with the cobalt-releasing agents is carried out according to the present process in such a way that a cobalt-containing dye is produced which contains less than one atom of cobalt in complex bond per molecule of dye.
Accordingly, the metallization is expediently carried out using cobalt-releasing agents and using methods which, experience has shown, provide complex cobalt compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one atom of cobalt on a molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the metallization in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
Simple cobalt salts such as cobalt sulphate or cobalt acetate, and if necessary freshly precipitated cobalt hydroxide, are expediently used as cobalt-releasing agents.
Example: 17.8 parts of the dye from dianotized 2-amino-l-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methylamide and 2-oxynaphthalene and 20.4 parts of the dye from dia @zotierte 4-chloro-2- Amino-1-oxybenzene and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyr.azolone-3'-sulfonic acid amide, both dyes in the form of a moist paste (filter cake), are dissolved in 800 parts of water with the addition of 8.0 parts Dissolved sodium hydroxide.
Now is on. 80 and 110 parts of a carbon sulfate solution with a cobalt fr of 2.95 / n are added. After brief heating to 85, the complex formation
EMI0002.0016
correspond, cobalt-releasing agent, can act in such a way that a cobalt-containing azo dye is created, which each has one molecule of the two starting substances
contains no azo dyes bound to a carbon atom complex.
The new cobalt-containing dye forms a dark powder that dissolves in water and dyes wool from a neutral or slightly acidic bath in brownish-red shades.
SUBClaims: 1. Method according to the patent claim, characterized in that one ends on a. The dye is deposited by neutralizing with dilute acetic acid and adding sodium chloride.
