1. REVENDICATION:
Cinematographic projection device. Topographic cinema projectors are already known in which the film is animated with a continuous movement, while the optical projection system is animated with an alternating movement to accompany the film in its movement during the travel time of a picture.
This makes it possible to project a still image on the screen each time a wire image is revealed in front of the lens while having continuous movement of the film.
The invention relates to a cinematographic projection apparatus in which the film is animated with a continuous movement, the fixedness of the image on the screen being obtained by a set of reflecting surfaces, at least one of which is animated by a movement alternative, accompanies each image of the film in its displacement, projection apparatus characterized in that at least one of said reflective surfaces, animated by an alternating movement of period substantially equal to the duration of projection of an image of the film, is located inside the objective between the fixed lenses of entry and exit of the light rays.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, various embodiments of the projection apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 schematically represents a first projection device.
Fig. 2 represents the device for controlling the reciprocating movements of the projection prisms. Fig. 3 schematically shows a spiral shutter disc.
Figs. 4 and 5 represent respectively, seen in profile and seen from the front, a spiral ob turator device mounted on a cone.
Figs. 6 and 7 represent respectively, seen in profile and seen from the front, a spiral ob turator device mounted on a cylinder.
Fig. 8 schematically shows another projection device.
Fig. 9 is a vertical section of another embodiment of the invention. The projection apparatus shown as a whole in FIG. 1 comprises a projection window 1 placed in front of the objective 2 and a device for moving the film in front of the projection window.
Objective 2 has two lenses 3 and 4. These two lenses close a chamber 5 inside which there are two oscillating sockets 6 and 7.
The oscillation of the prisms is controlled as follows: The prism 7 can rotate around an axis 8 placed at the center of the reflection face and parallel to this face.
This axis 8 is extended on one of its sides by a finger 9 and on the other side by a flange 10 which is biased by a spring 11, along arrow F1.
This spring 11 constantly recalls the finger 9 against a cam 12 with an appropriate profile, rotating about an axis 13. The rotation of the cam produces the oscillation of the finger 9 and, consequently, the oscillation of the axis 8. and prism 7.
The oscillating prism 7 reflects towards the prism 6 the light rays coming from the projection window 1, after passing through the lens 3.
The prism 6 reflects the light rays reflected by the prism 7 towards the screen through the lens 4.
The film 14 moves in front of the projection window following a continuous movement, this movement is accompanied during the time of passage of the image by the oscillating prism 7, so that the image projected on the screen is fixed.
The prism 7 then returns to the initial position, then moves again to accompany the next image of the film in its movement and so on. The profile of the cam 12 is suitably calculated so that the return movement of the prism 7 is very rapid, so that the period of oscillation of the prism is substantially equal to the. projection time of an image.
The arrows P1 indicate the path of the light rays crossing first the projection window, then the lens 3, the two taken my 6 and 7 and the exit lens of the objective.
The film is moved in the following way: The film 14 coming from the unwinding reel first passes over a drum 15 comprising claws 16 entering the perforations of the film.
The film 14 then passes over two rotating guides 17 and 18 placed on each side of the projection window 1, then over a rotating drum 19.
As it passes over the drum 15, the film is applied against this drum by a rotating roller 20.
The cam 12 controlling the reciprocating movement of the prism 7 is controlled in its rotational movement directly by a drive shaft on which is mounted a pin 21 meshing with a pinion 22 which itself engages a pinion device which transmits its movement to the shutter shaft 23.
The projection apparatus further comprises, behind the projection window 1, a shutter device allowing limitation of the image projected on the screen.
This shutter device is advantageously constituted by a disc 24 rotating in front of said objective (FIG. 3).
This disc 24 comprises a spiral 25 and two shutter blades 26; the shape of this spiral being such as to ensure the framing of the projected image as the de-. film placement.
The spiral disc 24 is driven by a rotational movement controlled by the film drive mechanism, so that the rotation of this disc is synchronous with the speed of movement of the film, as well as the frequency of oscillation. of the prism 7, the movement of which is also controlled by the same motor device as that for driving the film.
The projection apparatus described above has many advantages and in particular the following 1 The optical compensation of the fixedness of the image is effected by a set of oscillating prisms inside the objective at the focus of the lenses, so that these prisms have a small dimension and can therefore have a fast return oscillation, the cross-section of the light beam between the lenses being small.
2 The assembly 7 to 10 is mounted on a positive device allowing it to slide parallel to the optical axis of the apparatus, that is to say the lenses 3, 4 relative to the cam, which allows the image to be adjusted according to the focal length of the objectives used, or for any other adjustment compensating for variations resulting from changes in film pitch, shrinkage or elongation, or from any other operating variations.
3 The limitation of the projected image is achieved by a shutter comprising two spiral lights separated by two extremely small shutter blades, which allows an appreciable gain of light and a better brightness of the projection.
4: The size of the projection device is very small.
Many modifications can be made to the projection apparatus described above, without going beyond the scope of the invention, in particular, instead of using an oscillating prism, it is possible to use two oscillating prisms 7 and 27 (fig. 2), these two oscillating prisms are controlled in the same way as that described above. To this end, each prism rotates about an axis 8, pro-lengthened on each side by a finger 91, 9 = and respectively on the other side by a flange 101, 1 Ol.
The two flanges 101, 10 = are joined together by a spring 11; the fingers 91, 92 are pressed constantly on the cam 12, comprising a double boss 261, 262, corresponding to each of said fingers 91, 9Z.
The shutter device for limiting the image may consist of a. truncated cone 29 with spirals 30 (fig. 4 and 5).
Instead of using a truncated cone for the obturation, it is also possible to use a cylinder 31 with spirals 32 (FIGS. 6 and 7).
Fig. 8 represents a variant of the positive device of FIG. 1, variant in which there is an objective formed by two lenses 3 and 4 leaving between them a space inside which the oscillating prisms 7 and 27 are placed.
The control of the movement of these sockets is analogous to that of FIG. 2.
This device also comprises a positive framing device acting on the position of the film with respect to the shutter member.
This framing device makes it possible to manually control the angular displacement of the claw drum 34 for driving the film.
For this purpose, the axis 35 of the claw drum 34 comprises a pinion 361 meshing with a worm 371 mounted on a shaft 38.
The screw 371 which can slide on the shaft 38 is controlled by a fork 39 which pivots around an axis 40 on which a control lever is mounted, which conveniently ensures the framing.
By turning the shaft 40, in one direction or the other, the drive drum 34 is rotated by means of the worm 371 and the pinion 361 by a given angle, which modifies the position of the film image relative to the opturator.
The shaft 38 comprises, on the other hand, a worm 372 meshing. with a pinion 36 = integral with another claw drum 33 for driving the film.
Numerous modifications can be made to the apparatus described above by way of example.
In particular, in the case where key lenses at short focal length are used, the space between the two lenses being reduced, the arrangement of the reflecting surfaces can be achieved according to FIG. 9. The lens 4 is disposed between the two prisms 6 and 7, the fixed prism 6 being disposed outside the assembly and above the lens 4: this ensures the reduction in size above. above indicated. The prism 7 is oscillating and its movement can be controlled in the same way as that of the prism 7 in the embodiment of FIG. 1. CLAIM:
