Method and device for taking cinematographic streets giving, on projection, the impression of relief. The present invention relates to a method and a device for taking cinematographic pictures giving, on projection, the impression of relief.
The method consists in moving, relative to the support of the shooting device, optical means by which the light rays enter the device <B> '</B> this movement being carried out along a closed path, of so as to make the object take a succession of images from different angles. It has been observed that by projecting these images, one obtains the sensation of relief.
The device for carrying out this method has the peculiarity that a movable optical system is combined with the objective of the shooting device so as to be able to rotate around the optical axis of the objective and to send to the latter the light rays emanating from the cinematograph object.
Various embodiments of the object of the invention are shown schematically in the accompanying drawing, given by way of example.
In the drawing: FIG. 1 is a view of a cinematographic camera with a rotary optical system; Fig. 2 represents a variant of the preceding positive saying; Fig. 3 shows an eccentrically drilled rotating screen which can be combined with the lens of a cinematographic camera; Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section of another embodiment; Fig. 5 is a cross section following tl-tl, fig. 4.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a pinion 1 rotates concentrically with the optical axis of the objective o of the image pickup device 2, which is fixed. This pin 1 is controlled by the pinions 3, 4, 5 and the crank 6. Pinion 1 carries a housing 7 containing a prism with reflecting surfaces arranged to send the light rays along the path indicated, this prism being able to be replaced by a jet, mirrors or any other suitable optical system. The box 7 therefore rotates with the pi- e0111011 1.
The inclination of the housing with respect to the optical axis 3-B of the device 2, and around an axis 8 perpendicular to the latter, can be modified by means of a micronized screw 9 meshing with a toothed sector 10 integral with the latter. housing 7 and concentric with the axis 8, which is mounted in supports (not shown) integral with the pinion <B> 1, </B> In fig. ?, the mobile optical system, instead of being made up of a single prime,
consists of two prisms 11 A I? mounted in a housing 13 fixed on a rotating plate 1.1 rotating concentrically to the axis of the objective o and driven by an independent motor such as a clock movement 15. The objective and advancement mechanism of the film is moved by the usual means.
The modification shown in FIG. ? consists in that, instead of making the inclination of the whole optical system go up like â. fig. 1, one varies the inclination of only one of the prisms, that of the outside 12, thanks to a micrometric screw Lb attacking a helical wheel 17 wedged on an axis which is enclosed in the hypotenuse plane of the prism 12.
The device represented by, FIG. 3 (1 takes a screen 18 mounted in front of the object, jec- tive and rotating in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the latter, this screen being pierced with an opening 19 eccentric with respect to the axis of rotation and having a circular shape.
We can then consider the photographic lens placed behind this screen, as a complex, and its different parts as so many small discrete objectives operating successively, so that all these small objectives could even be replaced. by a single objective, of the same focal length, animated by a movement of rotation around the optical axis of the fictitious objective with a speed equal to that of the aperture 19.
The rotational movement can be communicated to the screen 18 by means of a crank 20 and a series of sprockets 21 as shown, this crank controlling, if desired, the usual mechanism of the cinematographic apparatus. - Graphic of begging views, or being coni- ma.ndée by him. One could obviously give any desired dimension to the opening 19, and increase, for example, its diameter, while moving its center away from the optical axis.
We could, if we place the rotating screen 'drilled 18 behind (the objective, or between the lens systems that make up the latter, but on the condition that part of the rays that would pass through the usual diaphragm sup posed reduced to its smallest aperture is always intercepted during the rotation of the screen. It would moreover be possible to replace this screen by a simple eccentric and rotating diaphragm-iris.
Figs. I and :-) show a w arrangement according to which the system of prisms @ -st removably mounted on the device and can slide deviating from the objective while being capable of a rotational movement around the optical axis. The goal? '? is placed behind a tray? 3 provided, on its periphery, with a toothing 24 which is used for its dragging.
On this plate 23 is mounted, removably, and sliding, by tongues 25 (fig. 5) in suitable grooves dtt plate? <B> 3 </B>, third box? FS carrying the prism system . This box is kept in the correct position. that is to say the fiNf prism,? 7 which it contains placed in front of the objective ?? by a stopper? 8 fixed on the plate \? 3 and by spring locks 29.
The prism system comprises, as in the example of. fig. ?, two prisms? 7 and 30 and when the replaced? Ki box hides the lens 22 again, the image says.
reference point lie can reach the sensitive surface only after passing through the prisms, 30 and 27, so that, in order to bring it back strictly to the center of this surface, it is necessary to vary the position of the s @ -, - tème of prisms, which makes it possible to achieve the arrangement shown in FIGS. d and 5.
The prism 27, called the internal prism, is at 45 and is placed in front of the objective so that its hypotenuse surface returns there the light rays coming from the object to be cinematographed and reflected by the second prism 30, said external prism.
The distance which separates these prisms from one another is variable and, for this purpose, the prism 30 is mounted in a box 31 capable of sliding inside the box 26 thanks to the slides 32 and of being held in certain positions determined by good spring men 33. A window suitably drilled in this box 31 and the box 26 will allow the external face of the prism 30 to receive the light rays emanating from the subject to be filmed.
To bring the image of the reference point to the center of the sensitive surface, the external prism 30 is movable, with reference to FIG. 4, around a vertical axis which merges with the median vertical axis of its hypotenuse surface and around a horizontal axis passing through the center of this same surface, that is to say parallel to the bases of the prism. These movements are obtained by means of plates or toothed sectors, one of which, 34, is arranged horizontally and wedged on the pivot 38 of the prism 30, this pivot coinciding with the median vertical axis of the hypotenuse surface of the prism and being mounted in flanges 39 integral with the other toothed plate 35; the latter is arranged vertically and its axis 40 passes through the center of this same hypotenuse surface.
These plates 34: and 35 mesh respectively with micro-metric screws 36 and 37 controlled from the outside key to the box and one of which is carried by said box, while the other is carried by one of the flanges 39 and can move concentrically with the axis 40, in a slot pierced in the wall of the box, so as to allow the relative movements of the two plates, movements which are, moreover, still of a very low amplitude. By this means, the image of the cue point will be reflected at the center of the sensitive surface throughout the duration of the rotation of the prism system around the optical axis.
The registration, that is to say the positioning at the center of the sensitive surface of the image of the reference point can be obtained directly, thanks to the mobility of the prism holder box 26 with respect to the objective . It suffices, in fact, to slide this box 26 on the plate 23, after having released it from the bolts 29, to completely release the objective 22, which allows it to be used for determining the reference point and for bring the image of this landmark exactly and directly to the center of the sensitive surface.
This tracking could also be carried out using the usual viewfinder included in all photographic cameras. In this case, after placing the image of the reference point on the center of the sensitive surface, using the viewfinder, as usual, the prism system is moved so as to bring the internal prism in front of the viewfinder, the center of the hypotenuse surface of the prism coinciding with the line of sight; the reference point then appears in the viewfinder only through the external and internal prisms and is no longer located in the center of the viewfinder; it is brought there by adjusting the external prism as explained above, then the prism system is returned to its normal position, that is to say the internal prism placed in front of the objective.
One could naturally combine on the same device the perforated screen 18 shown in FIG. -3 and the prism system 27 and; 30 as shown in fig. 4 and 5. The maximum relief will be obtained when the orifice 19 of the screen 18 is diametrically opposed to: the external prism 30 and the screen 18 is placed between the constituent parts of the lens. On the contrary, said opening should be placed on the same side as the external prism, if the screen was mounted in front of or behind the objective.
The movement of the crank controlling the drive of the film and the shutter of the device is transmitted by means of pins, as shown in fig. 3 or by means of straps, to the plate 23 of which the lens is or is not integral, and to the screen. The rotation thus produced may be continuous or intermittent.
