Waterproof winding and time-setting mechanism. The subject of the invention is a waterproof winding and time-setting mechanism for watches of all kinds comprising a winding crown engaged on a tube of the case and rigidly assembled through this tube, with the winding stem.
According to the invention, the. crown and the winding stem are rigidly connected to each other, through said tube, by means of a threaded assembly sleeve, into which said members are screwed, each by a respective threaded tenon, a sleeve compressible seal being inserted, on the one hand, between the assembly sleeve and the tube of the housing and, on the other hand, between two bearing surfaces formed on two of the three aforesaid members assembled with each other. One of these bearing surfaces is preferably formed by a shoulder of the assembly sleeve; it could also be formed by a shoulder of the winding stem.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention limited to the part essential for understanding the invention, La, FIG. 1 is a sectional view along the winding stem, while FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The middle part 5 of the watch case is pierced with a round hole 6, in which is fixed (driven out or welded) a cylindrical tube 7 mounted on a hollow winding crown 8. This crown is connected to the winding stem. 9 and rigidly assembled therewith, through the bore of the tube 7, by means of a connection sleeve 10, in which the crown 8 and the ring are screwed fully. winding stem 9, each by a threaded tenon 8 ', respectively 9', these tenons having been manufactured with said components.
Between the sleeve 10 and the tube 7, on the one hand, a shoulder 10 'of this sleeve and the bottom of the ring 8, on the other hand, is inserted a sealing sleeve 11 made of impermeable and compressible material, by example in leather or rubber.
A little clearance is provided between the lower part of the sleeve 10 and the tube of the housing, in an annular space separating the. on the outer face of the tube 7 and the crown 8 of one another, is also inserted a second sealing gasket formed of washers 12 of leather or other compressible and impermeable material. These washers are. superimposed on each other and kept compressed, as a block, in their housing, by means of a ring 13 crimped in the base of the crown 8.
The gasket 12 is not essential, however, because the sleeve 11 is sufficient on its own to ensure the perfect tightness of the hole giving access to the interior of the case, whatever the position of the crown. Indeed, the sleeve 11 is uniformly compressed during assembly by screwing the crown 8, the winding stem 9 and the connecting sleeve 10 with each other, so that the sleeve can frictionally slide. fat inside tube 7, when the. crown is pulled out and then pushed back to its. original position, when the time is set for the hands of the watch, using the direct-effect winding and time-setting mechanism.
When the crown is rotated, it drives the connection sleeve 10 and the winding stem 9, at the same time as the sleeve 11.
The sealing sleeve 11 could be formed of two or more segments or constituent elements inserted, on the one hand, between the tube 7 and the sleeve 10 and, on the other hand, between two surfaces of the members 8, 9 and 10. However, the sleeve could extend between the bottom of the crown, bottom forming a bearing, and the bearing 14 of the back rod. Finally, the sleeve could be inserted between the scope 14 of the. winding stem and a bearing of the connection sleeve 1 ().
The mechanism described ensures the sealing of the winder, and. it also offers the advantage of leaving <<the stem (the winder has a certain. lateral freedom, which is. important when the centering (the stem in relation to the case leaves much to be desired.
