Waterproof watch box. The subject of the invention is a waterproof watch case comprising a back assembled with a middle part, and a sealing insert inserted between the back and the middle part. It mainly relates to this gasket and aims to use the latter as an anti-shock element, to dampen to a certain extent the shocks to which the watch movement is exposed, when it is fitted.
To this end, said sealing gasket, generally a washer or a ring made of elastic and impermeable material, rubber for example, at least partially protrudes inside the middle part and forms at least one elastically flexible rim constituting an element. shock absorber intended to maintain the movement in the caseband, either directly or by means of a movement holder circle.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is shown in cross section; fig. 2 shows the sealing washer in plan view; fig. 3 shows an alternative embodiment of this washer, plan view.
The drawing shows a round case comprising a caseband-bezel 4 and a back 5. The latter is threaded around its periphery and screwed into the caseband 4, provided with a corresponding thread. Between the middle part and the back is inserted a sealing washer 6 made, preferably, of an elastic and impermeable material such as, for example, rubber. This relatively wide washer is partially supported on a bearing surface 7 of the middle part and is strongly compressed between the elements 4 and 5, when the latter are assembled by clamping.
However, said washer 6 protrudes inside the frame 4 and therefore forms a wide circular rim 6 'which, elastically flexible, extends under a flange 8 of a movement carrier ring 9. In this circle is adjusted and fixed, by keys, the watch movement 10.
When the circle 9 with the movement 10 is introduced into the middle part 4, the collar 8 rests on a fitting bearing surface 12) of the middle part, while the rim 6 'of the washer 6, elastically flexible, resiliently presses on the collar 8 and maintains the circle 9 applied against its seat 12, as soon as the bottom 5 is screwed fully into the latter. Thus, the washer 6 serves not only as a gasket for the assembly joint between the caseband and the back, but also as an anti-shock element, by its rim 6 ', in order to subtract as much as possible the watch movement. the harmful effects of shocks.
Indeed, this rim 6 ′ reacts elastically against shocks by damping them. The movement-carrying circle is therefore secured to the case, on the one hand, by elastic clamping and, on the other hand, by the winding stem 14.
The seal could be formed by a single ring-shaped washer, or by two or more annular sealing elements superimposed on one another. The lining could possibly be made of metal or at least comprise metal parts, for example one or more metal lamellae springing and intended to constitute the resiliently flexible rim 6 '. In this vein, it should be noted that the projecting part 6 'of the lining could be formed by several projecting tabs 13, as shown in the variant execution according to FIG. 3. The tabs, distributed around the entire inner circumference of the box, are elastically flexible.
The invention is also applicable to shaped boxes, with or without a movement-carrying circle. If the box does not have a movement holder, the frame of the movement would be fitted with a fitting collar corresponding to that of circle 9.
Instead of a bezel case, the case could have a separate caseband and bezel assembled together.
As regards the means ensuring the sealing of the winder and of the other assembly joints of the case, they do not fall within the scope of this invention.
