Waterproof box, especially for a timepiece. The object of the present invention is a sealed box, in particular for a timepiece, comprising at least two parts, including a middle part and having nested parts with interposed sealing package, characterized in that the package presents , in one of its faces, an axial annular slot into which penetrates, when the two parts fit together, an annular rib with a triangular cross section, said rib causing by its,
radial expansion of the packet is penetrated into said slot: against the nested parts.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the sealed box forming the subject of the invention.
Each of fig. 1 to 3 is a partial axial section of one such embodiment.
The watch case shown in fig. 1 comprises a caseband-bezel 4 and a back 5. The back has a flange with a cylindrical inner face 7 which fits onto a cylindrical sleeve 6 extending the caseband and the end of which has an outer thread 6 '. A sealing package 8 of slightly elastic material surrounds the non-threaded part of the sleeve 6 and seals the seal between this sleeve and the flange 7 of the bottom. This package has, in its underside, an axial annular slot 9.
On the threaded end 6 'of the man chon 6 is engaged a threaded ring 10, metal or synthetic resin for example, having on its upper face a rib 11 with a triangular cross section, the edge of which penetrates into the slot 9 of package 8 and causes the radial expansion of this. padding against the edge 7, from the bottom. By screwing the ring 10, the rib 11 is made to penetrate deeper into the slot 9.
Now, a stop device makes it possible to secure the ring and the base 5 in rotation when the latter is fitted, so that a slight rotation of the fitted base causes the ring 10 and thus increases the radial expansion of the package. This abutment device comprises a tenon 12 fixed to the bottom and engaging in a notch 13 formed in the outer flank of the ring.
In a variant shown in the right part of FIG. 1, this stopper device may comprise a tenon 14 projecting bound on the outer periphery of the ring 10 and cooperating with a notch 15 formed in a ring 16 fixed to the rim 7 of the bottom or formed integrally with this rim.
To form the box of fig. 1, the package 8 is first put in place and the ring 10 screwed in sufficient quantity so that the package is slightly expanded radially outward. The bottom is then fitted, taking care that the tenon 12 or 14 is engaged in the notch 13 or 15.
It is then sufficient to turn the bottom of a very small angle (by means of a wrench or, simply with the fingers) to screw the ring 10 a little more and obtain by the deeper penetration of the. rib 11 in the slot 9 of the package, the expansion. additional of this package which ensures the perfect tightness of the joint between them. nested parts.
On the underside of the caseband is provided a small annular rib 17 of the tines to cooperate with a groove 18 of the re edge 7 of the bottom to prevent the latter .de opening under the radial pressure of the packet. In the example of FIG. 2, the package 8 is housed in the bottom 5 and has the axial annular slot 9 in its upper face.
The ring 10 having the annular rib 11 on its lower face is housed in an annular groove 19 of the middle part. This ba gue 10 can be free or fixed to the middle part (by welding or crimping, for example); the rib can also be made in one piece with the middle part. The bottom is fixed at the .carrure by a Bran 20.
The embodiment of FIG. 3 differs from the previous one only by the reciprocal position of the ring 10 and of the package 8.
Indeed, the package is partly housed in a groove 21 adjacent to the cylindrical sleeve 6 of the middle part and its axial annular slot 9 is provided in its lower face, while the annular rib 11 intended to penetrate into this slot to cause the radial expansion of the package towards the outside, that is to say against the rim 7 of the nested bottom,
-is provided on the upper face of the ring 10 which rests freely on the bottom 5. The latter is also fixed to the caseband 4 by a notch 20. Icï -exicore the ring 10 could be fixed, for example welded to the bottom 5; one could also provide a rib 11 from manufacture with this bottom.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown and described by way of example. Thus it can be applied not only to the sealed closure of the back, but also to that of the bezel, round or shaped boxes, for timepieces or measuring instruments of all kinds.
The parts making up the box and comprising nested parts with interposed split packaging can be fixed: one to the other by simple interlocking, notch or screw. The reciprocal position of the nested parts may be different from that of the examples described and shown. One can, for example, provide a box .comprenant a bottom nested in the middle part.
In each variant, the position of the split pack may vary and the ring carrying the rib may be free. fixed to one or the other of the nested parts or screwed to one or the other of these parts with or without a stop device allowing it to be driven in rotation after boxing of the two parts.
